Temtem: Swarm News

Temtem: Swarm's demo is over! Here's some info on the upcoming Early Access!

Helloooo, Tamers! Have you been Swarming successfully?Steam Next Fest has been a total blast, and the Demo has been enjoyed by over 100,000 people! As we reach the end of it, we'd like to talk a bit about what this means for the future.
Many of our Demo players have asked us: will the demo progression remain as we progress into the Early Access phase of the full game? And we finally have an answer!
Demo progression will be maintained into Early Access.
Although we were being careful about confirming, we can now safely say that we won't have to do a reset on the progress you made in the demo! That said, we're making a small adjustment to Pansun spending on the Skill Trees: all your Skill Trees will be set to 0 and all the Pansuns invested will be returned to you. You won't be losing any Pansuns earned, but you'll have to reallocate them come Early Access.
Aiming is going to feel brand new
A lot of feedback on the demo was focused on how frustrating the frontal-facing aiming system could feel, so we got to work! Following the feedback, we made a huge change in the game's controls and aiming: we're adding manual aiming to the right joystick and mouse. For some, that means Temtem: Swarm can be considered a twin-stick shooter now!
These changes will be applied once Temtem: Swarm launches into its Early Access version.

If you don't feel like aiming and want to keep things simple, don't worry! We’re keeping the option to auto-aim these Techniques when the manual aim is not used so they'll always target the nearest enemy, to make things more approachable for casual players. This change has been born entirely from feedback we’ve read across our communication channels.

As you can see in the video below, the game will display a small arrow on the screen to let you know where you're aiming with the right stick or mouse. If you don't use the right stick or mouse, the game will revert to its auto-aim feature, but improved upon: it will target the nearest enemy, making hitting the Swarm way easier.

Not all Techniques will be manually aimed, though! There will still be techniques that spawn on a random position, like Crystal Spikes, but these have a 30% chance of spawning under an enemy, and this chance can be improved by the Luck skill in the Skill Tree! There will also be techs that aim forward (think shields! Nothing with projectiles anymore), behind and to the sides of the tem, and a lot more variables that you'll discover come Early Access!
Why did you take down the Demo?
The Demo no longer represented the gameplay of Temtem: Swarm come Early Access and so we didn't want players to base their decisions to play or not on something that wasn't truly representative. We gained a lot of from your reports and feedback, and we'd rather focus all our efforts into making sure that the EA is as polished, functional and fun as possible! We'll see you there on November 13th, won't we? Wishlist Temtem: Swarm now so you get notified the second it launches!
I reaaaally enjoyed Innki during the demo
Patch 0.4.9.6

Balance
We have reverted the following changes, made previously on patch 0.4.9.5.The reason for these changes was to make forward-aimed Techniques feel better without adding an aiming option. From reading feedback provided on the Demo after these changes, we've understood they didn't solve the main issue, so we've decided two things: first, we're as of now working on an aiming system with the right joystick, as well as improving the auto-aiming of many Techniques, since auto-aim will remain available for those that prefer not having to aim. This big change will not make it in time for the Demo, but will be part of the Early Access initial release. And second, we're reverting these changes so nobody gets attached to this playstyle, since once we reach Early Access it will either be twin-stick shooting or auto-aimed to the nearest enemy.Any changes not explicitly reverted here remain.REVERTED
