Demo version 1.6.9. Improvements, and new languages.

Hello,

Golel Demo version 1.6.9 is now available.

[h2]What's in version 1.6.9?[/h2]
In this version of the Demo, I have add support to Russian language, and also Spanish(Spain).
However, Spanish has an issue that the launch option could not be added.
You will have to launch the Demo and make sure to add the argument "-es".
This should be fixed in the future.

More bug fixes to the Demo. There is also a red - to the talent cursor, when the monster has immunity to at least some of it's effects:
Undead cannot get critical damage(critical stab).
Undead and big monsters cannot be stunned.
Some big monsters cannot be pushed back.
Undead cannot get bleeding condition.
Those are a few examples.

Some environments now look better than before. Some other small decoration additions here and there.

NPC dialog trigger is better now. If before walking into a tile would always trigger a dialog. Now trying to walk into the blocked entrance will trigger the dialog.

[h2]What's next for the Demo?[/h2]
The demo still need some bug fixing and quality improvements.
Also addition of more language translations.
I would also like to have gamepad support.
Also improvements to VR.

The Demo is quite polished right now, please let me know if there are any special issues or recommendations you have.

[h2]Full game progress[/h2]
There is progress in the full campaign as well. Still working on chapter 2 though.
When I will be mostly done with chapter 2 I will let you know.

Golel Demo version 1.6.2

Golel Demo version 1.6.2 is now available.

[h2]What's new in Version 1.6.2?[/h2]
In this version I have fixed a bug in the inventory system.
This will pave the way to inventory management like was often requested.

I have also made save files listing faster. In case you have a lot of save files.
And in the future save files listing will be even faster, and I will also give the option to delete save files.
If you see any bugs related to save files and inventory, please let me know.

In addition, you now have tooltips for conditions like when being poisoned or stunned.
It will finally be more clear what happen when you have those conditions.

Another small change, that I am not sure about yet, is that you can go over the HP bar, SP bar and XP bar, and see the values with text.

[h2]What's next for the Demo?[/h2]
For the demo, more bug fixes, more performance improvement.
More language support.
The next version will likely have inventory management.
Languages I would like to add: Russian, Traditional Chinese, Spanish-Spain and Spanish Latin America.
I would theoretically would like to add all possible languages. If I have time.

[h2]New trailer and capsule[/h2]
If you noticed, there is a new extended trailer, and a new capsule.
The capsule is AI generated. When I will get closer to release, I would like to commission and artist for that.
The trailer can be viewed in the Golel steam page.

[h2]What's next for the full game?[/h2]
I am still working on chapter 2, I paused a bit to make the improvements on the Demo.
However, chapter 2 is looking great. I can't wait for you to eventually try it out.
In addition, it is possible I will add the challenge mode in release day, or at least a WIP version of it on release day.
I bought a 3rd party maze generation library. Creating the code for procedural generation might have prolonged the time for release, so I hope this 3rd party library will give good results and will allow me to release on time.

New talents, and a big update for Demo version 1.5.7

I have uploaded and published Golel Demo version 1.5.7.

[h2]New Talents[/h2]
There are 3 new talents.
  • Sword Parry - It's an old talent that got implemented.
    Sword Parry allows you to attack an enemy and knock them off balance, enabling you to flank them.
    But if you fail to hit, you end up being flanked yourself.
  • Feint Strike - A mace talent that allows you to ignore half of the enemy's armor bonus.
    On a successful hit, it causes confusion in the enemy for one or two turns.
    Confusion results in temporary reduction of enemy's armor.
  • Flank Hack - An axe talent that let you attack and rotate to your right or left, facing your enemy in less than a turn.
    This one is a bit problematic UI wise. You will have to look to your side, and use the special ability button on the enemy.
    The default for dragging your view is holding right button, but so is activating a special ability.
    Your default alt view dragging, is the shift button. And you can also bind any other mouse button to the alt drag(except the two main), such as the middle mouse button.
    So you will have to drag with your alt, and click with right mouse button to activate this talent.


[h2]Graphics quality and performance[/h2]
There is a new quality to the shadows.
This is the high Shadow Quality(can be found in graphics options).
It is activated by default and is not expected to cause significant performance issues.
However, you can turn back the old shadows that demand even less resources.

There are also several performance improvements in physics and animations.
These changes should ensure that physics and animations match your screen's refresh rate instead of being limited to 30 or 60 FPS.
However, a few issues might appear.
Please let me know in the discussions if you find anything weird.

[h2]Bug fixes and changes[/h2]
A few bugs were fixed as well.
In addition, you may not use your regular attack on flanked enemies like before.
Previously, you could look to the right and attack an enemy without rotating, but this is no longer possible.

[h2]What's next?[/h2]
In regards to the demo: More bug fixes, performance fixes. Additional improvements to quality.
It is possible I will add more minor loot items.
More languages support for certain.

Apart from that, I am looking forward to keep developing chapter two.

Golel Demo version 1.5.4. German language support.

I made good progress on Chapter 2, that is not in the Demo.
It turns out to be very promising as well. I am not going to reveal anything from the new chapters, unless you really ask for something specific.

I have also update Golel's Demo to version 1.5.4.
In this version, there are a few bug fixes.
There is now also support for the German language.
Please let me know if you find any issues about your language, in the discussions.

[h2]Next update[/h2]
In the next update, I want to fix more bugs, but also add new talents.
I will make the Sword Parry talent useable(currently it's there without being properly implemented).
I will add new Axe Talent, and new Mace talent.
This will make so that every category has exactly 5 talents.

Apart from that, I will continue work on the second chapter.
I will add more languages.
Next languages might be Chinese, Russian and Korean.

Japanese language support. Build 1.4.7

Hello,

I have added support for the Japanese language for the subtitles and interface(but not audio).
With this language support, I have added the infrastructure that will allow me to add more languages easily.
Is there any language you suggest to add as well?

The translation was made using AI.

The linux build is a bit behind, and the next things to do, is update the linux build, fix bugs. But mostly continue working on chapter two.
