Dev Talk: Latest Improvements for March

Hello,
Here's an update on the development progress and latest news.

[h2][Development Progress][/h2]

I'd like to briefly share the changes in Nakwon's UI since the pre-alpha.

First, the basic interface during exploration has undergone significant changes.
We are redesigning it to be more intuitive and easier to read, while minimizing screen obstruction.
Elements like health and stamina indicators have been adjusted for better visibility,
and a new 'Infection Level' gauge, introduced after the pre-alpha, has been added to the bottom left.

Meanwhile, survival-related elements such as hunger and stress, which need to be managed outside of exploration, have been removed from the main exploration screen.
Additionally, UI elements obstructing the overall view at the top of the screen have been removed or minimized.

We've also continuously refined the inventory screen.
We wanted the inventory, accessible via the TAB key, to serve as the central hub for character information.
It needed to present a lot of information in a clear and organized way without feeling cluttered.
After multiple revisions, we are now close to the final version.

During exploration, pressing the TAB key will allow you to check not only your inventory
but also your stats, traits, and skill settings.

The tablet and map have also been redesigned for better usability and immersion.
We wanted them to work like a real tablet PC so that players, already familiar with tablets, wouldn't need extra tutorials.
However, due to development constraints, the pre-alpha version included only rough implementations.

Now, you can freely navigate between apps, view maps, receive quests via in-game messages,
and manage your friends—just like using a real tablet.

I'm sure many of you are eager to see how the game is shaping up.
With most core systems in place, the team is now fully focused on development.

To fine-tune content and balance, we conduct internal playtests daily.
Personally, I always play as a stealth-focused character.
Here's a short gameplay video I recorded during a single session.

We'll soon resume Nakwon's Discord and other community activities, with a separate announcement to follow.

That wraps up this short Dev Talk.
We're working hard to meet you all as soon as possible.

Thank you!

For today, I’ll briefly share two points from the content above.

First, let's talk about "Reworked to allow all building glass to be breakable." part.
[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
In the pre-alpha, only building doors (glass and metal) could be destroyed.
Now, all windows in accessible buildings can be broken.
This change makes the choices and strategies during scout much more dynamic.
You’ll be able to use the upcoming rope skill to enter through second-floor windows, or experience zombies breaking through storefront windows.

Nest is about "housing" part.
[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
The citizen's in NAKWON are living in their assigned home.
You should eat, sleep, and live your life in your assined home, which can be improved according to your citizen class.
You can place a crafting station to craft gear or set up a bed to sleep.
Additionally, you can freely arrange and decorate all the items in the game.
You can hang a frame on your wall or place a lamp on your desk, both of which you can bring back from your scouting.
Currently, we are developing the foundation of a system that allows for complete freedom in item and furniture placement.
What we’re sharing today is still in progress, so some aspects may be rough, but we hope it gives you a glimpse of the housing experience NAKWON aims to provide.

A lot is being prepared, and we’re working hard to bring it to you as soon as possible.
In this ruined world, where people struggle to survive together after the zombie outbreak,
we look forward to the day we can invite you to NAKWON.

Thank you for your continued support and love for the game.

Dev Talk: A Sneak Peek into the World of NAKWON

Today at Nexon's NEXT ON, we released footage of NAKWON.
We've been working hard on NAKWON, incorporating the feedback we've received since the pre-alpha test last year. We've preserved the core tension that makes it fun, while also creating systems that meet the expectations of a zombie game and provide a foundation for survival and progression.

All of the footage we've released showcases real gameplay, but there's still so much more to the game than what we've captured on video. So we share some screenshots that highlight what we've accomplished here.

Our ultimate goal is to convey the experience of surviving in a zombie apocalypse, where you'll need to scrape together a living. The entire team is dedicated to opening the gates of NAKWON for you.

As always, thank you for your patience. We promise it will be as fun as you've been waiting for.
