Update from the Depths – the demo has more content!

[p][/p][p][/p][p]Greetings, Well Dwellers! Unwell has just received a powerful injection of fixes and improvements![/p][h3]Improvements[/h3]
  • [p]During the alarm cycle, hiding in a locker will no longer cancel the alarm, but you can still feel relatively safe there. Or… maybe it’s better to go hunting for items?[/p]
  • [p]The hostile creatures in the well have grown even smarter. Sometimes it will already be too late to escape.[/p]
  • [p]Many more events are now included in the save system, so you won’t need to repeat them.[/p]
  • [p]Movement physics have been polished again – guiding the protagonist through his descent should feel smoother.[/p]
  • [p]New Points of Interest have been added – it’ll be harder to miss certain events now.[/p]
  • [p]The Fear mechanic has been reworked. The protagonist now needs to stare at a threat for longer before starting to lose it.[/p]
  • [p]Sounds have been added for weapon crafting and weapon breaking.[/p]
  • [p]Additional sounds have been added for hiding.[/p]
  • [p]Creature sounds have been expanded.[/p]
  • [p]The in-game cursor should now properly stay within the game window.[/p]
  • [p]Fullscreen interactions have been improved – spoken text should remain on screen while choosing responses.[/p]
  • [p]The alarm warning has been improved and is now more visible.[/p]
  • [p]The lantern has received a serious boost![/p]
[h3]Bug Fixes[/h3]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where after a weapon broke, the remaining ones would stop working.[/p]
  • [p]Improved the save manager so that the protagonist’s progress is properly saved in certain situations.[/p]
  • [p]Restored item pickup sounds.[/p]
  • [p]Adjusted items lying on maps so they’re easier to pick up.[/p]

Update from the Depths — The Demo has more content!

Hello, fellow well-dwellers.

Unwell demo just got... deeper.

[h2]New Content[/h2]

  • Expanded exploration in the Pride level – more paths to take and more room to outsmart enemies.
  • Additional items in the Pride level to help you hold your ground.
  • More hiding spots – use them strategically!
  • Improved visibility: more walls are now transparent in tight areas.
  • New encounters and events across all demo levels.
  • Fresh points of interest waiting to be discovered :)

Brand-new animations!
Several existing animations have been polished and refined :)
Overhauled protagonist animation logic for smoother gameplay.
Upgraded inventory fonts for better readability.
High-step stairs are easier to climb now.
Enhanced models with improved details.

[h2]Bug Fixes[/h2]
Fixed an issue where some items displayed a condition meter unnecessarily.
Defeated monsters no longer block your path.

Update from the Abyss: The Protagonist Gains Momentum!

Hello, fellow well dwellers.

We know you're waiting for version 1.0, but we haven't forgotten about the current content! We've just introduced several important fixes and improvements.

What's new?
Improved movement physics – moving our protagonist is now smoother and more intuitive.

Revised UI – UI elements now appear and disappear exactly when they should, providing a better gameplay experience.

Collision bug fixes – we've removed a few spots where you could unexpectedly fall through the floor. The well can be treacherous, but not that much!

Linux fix – the game should now launch without any issues on Linux systems. Let us know if you're playing on Proton—we've heard it's working great there too!

Update from the depths — Demo gets better!



Hello, dwellers of the Well!

While working on the full version of The Well, we haven’t forgotten to polish the content already available. :)

  • Fixed assignment and loading of quickslots from saved games.
  • Improved camera behavior when consuming various substances – mostly the not-so-healthy kind.
  • Lots of out-of-bounds fixes!
  • Added safe zones where you can hide from the not-so-friendly inhabitants of the Well – plan your descents wisely!
  • Tons of small tweaks and improvements to existing mechanics.


Production of the full version of Unwell is moving full steam ahead – it’s very likely you’ll be able to dive into the Early Access version soon!

  • Subtle lighting tweaks – navigating the darkness should feel slightly more manageable. But only slightly.
  • New light effects – waiting to be discovered... or avoided.
  • Well cycle warnings – now shown in your inventory. Keep an eye on them.
  • Lighter UI improved – you'll now get clearer feedback about heat levels.
  • Additional UI polish – just enough to make things feel off in a good way.
  • Bug fixes galore – the kind that hide in the corners and whisper.
