Battle Log

The new battle log will provide answers as to why creatures died or why a run was lost. Full list of changes:

  • Added battle log (new button in upper right corner)
  • Spell costs have been halved, rounded up. I.e. spells with 1 slot cost 1 despair, spells with 5 slots cost 3 despair
  • Improved enemy stack visuals, so it should be a bit clearer whether there are enemies left in the stack (thanks NowOnTest and Baxil)
  • Lacrima that are activated by chance show their value now when hovering over them in satchels (i.e. Capture 10% shows value of 5)
  • Broken spells no longer show a sell price in shop (thanks Auri)
  • Hovering over a map fragment when choosing between two fragments now shows icon infos (thanks kabukistar)
  • Removed Flying and FirstStrike from treasure rewards
  • Show dots in inventory for pages below cards instead of "1 / X"
  • Fixed cards on end game screen not being put in front of other cards when hovering over them
  • Fixed error when calling "Abandon run" at the start screen
  • Fixed undiscovered lacrima showing rarity sprites in collection (thanks NowOnTest)
  • Fixed description of OnEnemySleep ("an enemy of this creature") (thanks NowOnTest)

Inventory Improvements

Version 0.1.16 introduces an improved inventory, which should help a lot with crafting your cards.

  • Completely reworked inventory (thanks NowOnTest)
  • Lacrima names are always displayed
  • More satchels appear dynamically (up to 5 total, for a total inventory space of 30, just like before)
  • Always shows 10 cards of your deck
  • Add sort options for lacrima and for cards
  • Cards are now sorted automatically by type when opening inventory / shop / study / sacrifice
  • OnCardReveal no longer appears on enemies (thanks Baxil)
  • Random Buff no longer appears on enemies (thanks Baxil)
  • Changed "Reduce Despair Cost" to "Bliss" (reduces despair cost by 2)
  • Adjusted several boss values (thanks Baxil)
  • Adjusted the way rarity affects distributed lacrima
  • Lacrima sprites now have variations depending on rarity (thanks Baxil)
  • Space no longer closes sacrifice/study/shop, but still open/closes inventory while on the map screen (thanks Auri)
  • Next/previous arrows in inventory are now only shown when there are more than one page
  • Slightly increased chances of elite battles appearing on map
  • Fixed bug where cards from previous run would appear again in new deck (thanks Baxil)
  • Fixed "Activate Again" not working anymore (thanks Auri)
  • Fixed issue where a shop looked the same as the last visited shop on previous chapter (thanks Auri)
  • Fixed "NEW" indicator sometimes not disappearing
  • Fixed card details still showing after buying a card
  • Fixed "On Full Despair" on curse not disappearing when a new curse replaces it
  • Fixed description for Mud (Materia instead of Lacrima) (thanks Kai45)
  • Fixed cards on endscreen not zooming back out to original scale

Circles of Hell - Version 0.1.15

Version 0.1.15 introduces Circles of Hell, which are difficulty adjustments. More of them will be added in the future. With this change, the default game has been made slightly easier.

  • Added Circles of Hell (selection appears after the first run)
  • No more starter curse by default
  • Added fixed starter blessing by default ("Meditation")
  • No more unlimited curses by default, each new curse will replace the old one
  • Increased default max despair to 67
  • Reduced redraw price from 50 to 10 (thanks Syndel)
  • Buffed starter deck cards (one Spell with Heal has a value of 10 now)
  • Added 5 missing tooltips for triggers (thanks Syndel and tmachine)
  • Card details are now shown for cards in hand as well (thanks Syndel)
  • Right-click doesn't close end screen anymore (thanks NowOnTest)
  • "On Attack" now triggers before physical damage is dealt (thanks Syndel)
  • New cards are now drawn after enemy cards are revealed (to make OnShuffleDeck work after revealing cards) (thanks Syndel)
  • Blessings selection screen now also shows card details on hover
  • Added trigger "On Discard Card" (thanks Syndel)
  • To address an issue with reloading a save file, I've now added a global exception handling (thanks NowOnTest)
  • Fixed issue where card info was still displayed after leaving the end screen (thanks NowOnTest)
  • Fixed calculation error with Burn on card with Magic Ward
  • Fixed issue where sometimes after a fight you couldn't view blessings/curses (thanks Syndel)
  • Fixed shops letting you sell more than one card if you didn't sell a card in previous shops (thanks Syndel)
  • Fixed card arrow sometimes appearing misplaced

Version 0.1.14 - Deckbuilder Fest

This patch includes small but relevant bug fixes.

  • ​GlassCannon now reduces max HP by 75%, instead of current HP (thanks Syndel).
  • Redraw button glows now when you have fewer creatures in hand than total enemies (and if you have enough money).
  • Rearranged shop layout
  • Open inventory with square (playstation controller) or x (xbox controller) or Space (keyboard)
  • You can now hover over cards on end screen
  • Lacrima rewards will now avoid offering duplicates
  • Changed "Immune to Physical Damage" to "Reinforced Shield" (blocks 90% of physical damage)
  • Changed "Immune to Magic Damage" to "Magic Ward" (blocks 90% of magic damage)
  • Fixed lacrima description being visible when flipping through inventory pages
  • Fixed issue where "OnEnemyDeath" would trigger endlessly
  • Fixed bug in webgl build that showed "select an event" when closing blessings/curse mid-fight
  • Fixed JS bug in webgl build due to fullscreen permissions (also added fullscreen button in lower right)
  • Fixed description not updating when getting rid of Mud status
  • Fixed issue where sometimes cards could have negative HP

Quality of Life

This update focuses mainly on performance and quality of life features. Here's the full list:

  • Added 27 new sounds designed by KAON
  • Added info when hovering over lacrima in rewards: Equipped: X, Inventory: Y

  • Added target arrow after selecting cards

  • Trigger now get displayed as card events
  • Cards with flying/levitations now gently hover over the board
