Title Art, Run Statistics, Adjustments

This update adjusts lots of values, introduces more detailed run statistics and adds a new title screen.

Additions
  • Added new title screen art by Marcela Bolívar
  • End screen: Added map traversal history and additional statistics
  • New Trigger: Card Played
  • Cards now overcharge when they get triggered for their total number of slots.
    • Example: a card with 2 slots can get triggered 2 times per turn.
  • Improved enemy generation:
    • They won't hurt their allies or help their enemies (unless they target all)
    • They won't spawn with a combination of Shield and any healing lacrima
  • Improved Shop cards:
    • Guaranteed 2-3 creatures
    • Guaranteed 1 non-common lacrima
  • Bosses, Blessings, Curses now have three different rarities
  • Regenerate / Shield / Weak / Vulnerable increase their percentage with higher stacks (thanks Lord Arugula)
  • Example: Shield:
    • 10% plus 5% for each turn left, max. 50%
    • i.e. Shield 6 => 40%
  • New maximum for Weak (30% instead of 25%)
  • Reduced Despairbound to only add 50% of your current despair
  • Minor performance improvements in regards to RAM usage (thanks Qwerty for reporting performance issues)
  • Added different card borders for different card rarities
  • Ally Captured now only triggers when card is successfully captured (thanks Auri)
  • Remove Bloodied from Healer deck, added First Blood instead (thanks Qwerty)
  • Reduced controller stick sensitivity
Fixes
  • Fixed multiple First Blood and Bloodied activations (thanks blankity)
  • Fixed issue where Increase Despair could lead to the game softlocking (thanks Lord Arugula)
  • Fixed issue where Time Eater would not work if the third card played in a turn was a spell (thanks Lord Arugula)
  • Fixed OnEnemyAttack appearing too often in some cases
  • Fixed issue where total triggered counter was not reset correctly between fights (thanks TheRealAskz)
  • Fixed OnAttack triggering even though there was no opposite enemy
  • Fixed issue where battle log button info was still visible after opening battle log
  • Fixed TargetLeftmostAlly not working as intended

Quality of Death

Version 0.2.0 features a new introduction scene with Death, several crucial tips (at the right moments), and a bunch of quality of life improvements.

  • Enemies are now stacked like Solitaire so you can clearly see how many there are left in a stack (thanks Lord Arugula)
  • Changed "Magic Attack" to "Impulse" (thanks Lord Arugula)

Art, Music & New Deck: Bloodsucker

Version 0.1.20 introduces a new deck called Bloodsucker, which comes with unique lacrima. In addition to that, there is new card art, new music, and a new UI.

Additions:


  • Added new starter deck: Bloodsucker
  • Added new lacrima exclusive to new Bloodsucker deck
  • Added music for chapter 3 with cello by Lou Dunand-Vincent
  • Added art to bosses and curses by Vergvoktre
  • Added art to blessings by Marvin Blattert
  • Added background art for lacrima rewards and made them easier to select
  • Added new chapter backgrounds
  • Added map animation when shown the first time

  • Overhauled UI: All information is in the top left corner now, blessings and curses are on the right side of the screen

  • When starting a new run, deck and difficulty selection from previous run is now preserved
  • No longer highlight Redraw if you have 0 cards in deck and discard pile (thanks Auri)

  • Fixed front of a card sometimes not disappearing when faced down inside the deck (only happened in inventory)

  • Fixed battle log using untranslated lacrima text
  • Fixed OnAllyCapture checking for the wrong card to trigger (caster instead of target) (thanks Auri)

Hex-Style Map

This update changes the map layout from a simple grid of cards to hex-shaped map fragments. You now have more of a goal (to get to the right), and still retain choices along the way.

Full list of changes:

  • New map layout with hex tiles
  • New hand layout with slightly rotated cards
  • Added start sound by KAON (recording by Muddasheep)
  • Added effect when selecting map fragments
  • Added effects for upgrading and sacrificing cards
  • Added "Return to Title" to pause screen (thanks NowOnTest)
  • Added option for gamespeed, also works in-game by pressing G/L2/LB or H/R2/RB (thanks Legendary_Pups)
  • Prepared for localization by moving all lacrima names into localization spreadsheet (this breaks already achieved collection - sorry!)
  • Removed "On" from all triggers, and renamed most of them for brevity
  • Changed difficulty circle to reduce max despair by 25 (instead of a percentage)
  • Changed difficulty circle to increase base redraw cost to 20 Gold (instead of percentage)
  • Card now gets deselected when dragging a card, and letting go after moving it away from hand (thanks Legendary_Pups)

New Starter Deck: Gravedigger

This version adds a new starter deck, which starts with 10 different cards and a unique gameplay rule.

  • Added new starter deck "Gravedigger" (unlocked if you win with the first deck)
  • Decks can be mastered by winning with 5 activated circles of hell
  • Added PS1-style fade in beginning and between chapters (thanks to AnalogFeelings)
  • Battle log now has a marker for when player turn begins
  • Charmed cards now have a particle effect (thanks to medvezilla for additional help)
  • Exhumed enemies now receive the Permadeath modifier (thanks Baxil)
  • Exhumed enemies now have a rare chance of receiving an additional modifier that can land in fight rewards
  • Renamed "Return To Deck After Death" to "Eternal"
  • Map fragments with 3 Fights now turn one Fight into an Unkown symbol (if the fragment already has an Unknown symbol, it will get an Elite Fight instead)
  • You can now click on Blessings and Curses on the end screen
  • Added new fight header
  • Music now stops after a boss fight to allow some "downtime"
  • HP and ATK are now in the same text object (saves at least 1 FPS!)
  • Changed rarity of OnAllyAttack / OnEnemyAttack to ultrarare
  • Changed rarity of OnAttack to rare
  • Added new UI click and hover sounds
  • Modifiers are now displayed at the top of card descriptions (thanks Kai45)

Fixes:
  • Fixed issue where you could hear the "remove status effect" sound when viewing cards in battle log
  • Fixed issue where lanes weren't clickable after opening pause menu during an ongoing turn
  • Fixed being able to end turn while in pause/options (with SPACE)
  • Fixed hover effect not appearing when selecting circles of hell
  • Fixed card slot sprite not appearing when dragging a lacrima in inventory
  • Fixed bug where exhumed enemy creatures didn't receive the correct lane number
  • Fixed bug where after killing an enemy with a spell, the next revealed card wasn't possible to target
