Lambda Wars Patch May 16th, 2020 - 3.14a

We've been hard at work on patch 3.14a. The most notable change is the rework of the Combine Spec Ops Model, we feel like it oozes the Combine menacing design. Maps such as city16, skyfight and uzvara have seen some changes and optimizations. And lastly this patch introduces a heap of rebalances and bugfixes. Control points:

AR2 Upgrade:
- Research time reduced from 82 to 72.
Medic healrate upgrade:
- Research time reduced from 80 sec. to 35.
- Price reduced from 50/0 to 25/10.
Medic regenerate upgrade:

Attributes:
metal(dog, rollermines): removed bonus damage against light units.
plasma(snipers, veterans): reduced damage against meduim unitsfrom 35 to 20; reduced damage against heavy units from 25 to 20.


Units

Units with SG:
- Damage increased from 40 to 50.
Units with AR2:
- Attack speed reduced from 0.1 to 0.11.
- Units with ar2 make now 3 shots.

Rebels:

Partisans:
- Health reduced from 70 to 50.
Partisan with SMG:
- Price changed from 12/3 to 12/0.
Partisan with molotov:
- Price changed from 10/2 to 10/0.
Medic:
- Unit build time increased from 23 sec. to 24.
- Unit view distance reduced from 896 to 768.
- Can now research an SMG1 in Triage Center.
Veteran:
- Pop. cap. reduced from 3 to 2.
- Health increased from 150 to 180.
- Preparation time before unit can attack reduced from 3.51 sec. to 1.8 sec.
- Doesn't now require triage center.
- Explosive Bolt price reduced from 6 scrap to 5.
- Explosive bolt damage reduced from 240 to 200.
- Explosive bolt now requires to be researched in munition depot.
RPG:
- Unit price reduced from 40/40 to 40/30.
Dog:
- Moved from Vort. den to junkyard.
- Requires now Vort. den.
- Price reduced from 80/100 to 80/80
- Damage insreased from 35 to 45.
- Removed bonus damage against light units.

Metropolice with SMG:

Sniper:
- Preparation time before unit can attack reduced from 4.98 sec. to 3.51 sec.
- Attack speed increased from 2.75 sec. to 2.63 sec.
Strider:
- Unit price reduced from 100/100 to 100/80.


Buildings

Rebels:
Junkyard:
- Scrap generation interval increased from 5 sec. to 8.
Munition Depot:
- Added new ability upgrade: explosive bolt for veterans. It takes 44 seconds to be researched; 30/20 upgrade price.
Radio Tower:
- Auto-detection range increased from 192 to 256.
Rebel barracks:
- Now requires junkyard.
Barrel Trap Tower:
- Range increased from 1152 to 1408.
Triage Center:
- New research ability - equip SMG1.

Combine:
Combine armory:
- Added new ability upgrade: energy sphere for elite soldiers. It takes 38 seconds to be researched; 30/15 upgrade price.
- Energy ball requires special ops to be researched.
Mortar:
- Damage against light units increased from 150 to 180.
- Damage against medium units increased from 180 to 240.
- Damage against heavy units increased from 200 to 280.


Misc

- Fixed junkyard hp difference in annihilation and destroyHQ modes.
- Fixed model collisions for some buildings.
- Fixed population check for deploying manhacks by the metropolice.
- Fixed c4explosive ability not placing at target entity position when targeting an unit.
- Fixed population check for deploying manhacks by the metropolice.
- When a player loses, they can no longer abuse the reconnection issue that allowed them to continue playing in DestroyHQ/Competitive mode
- When a player loses, their buildings no longer become neutral.
- Some units didn't die after player loss. This has been fixed.
- The units now respond more actively to the game mechanic that could be abused with units by running around other units. The reaction speed was increased from 1/10 to 1/20.
- Stunned units won't be able to use their abilities.

Localization:
- Updated Czech translations. Provided by Lukyn150.
- Added Latin America Spanish support Provided by Vorticiano and Senor Erns.

Playerbase Growth

We are very excited by the recent growth in playerbase which has more than doubled the past week (Thank you STALKEROS). In order to share our excitement with the community we’d like to take a moment to update you on the game’s upcoming content.


New Models

Some of our original models are over 6 years old and we found that they could use some touch ups. The Garrison was the first to get a makeover and has been usable since update 3.13c, the Spec Ops is next in line for a remodel. Pouchyboy and Spok have been hard at work on both of these models.

New Maps

Throughout the game’s lifecycle we have continued designing and building a varied portfolio of maps. The vast majority have been multiplayer focussed, but we know many of you would like to see more focus on singleplayer. We’re happy to share that we have multiple singleplayer maps in production.

Intel has shown that the rebels are hiding somewhere in this sector. It's time for the Combine forces to find better intel on the rebel base location and eradicate them. This will be the game's first mission with the Combine as the playable faction.

Young Alice is on a very important mission: What has happened to the Rebel headquarters? The truth might be worse than she imagined. As the title suggests this will be the game's first multi level mini-campaign.

Loading Screen Images

There are currently numerous community loading screen background images being used. We'd like to expand that collection of images. Please contact us through Discord if you want to help extend the collection.


Tournament

The team is looking at organizing another tournament. It’s a perfect opportunity for the best players to show their true potential, plus we get more data on balance at high level play. You can expect another post that goes into more detail about this in the future.


Balance Tweaks and Bugfixes

One thing that will always change and shift is the balance. A very specific process where one minor change here impacts the effectiveness elsewhere. Bugs are another thing that can have a heavy impact on the gameplay. In order to make the game as enjoyable and fair as possible we will continue to fix bugs and tweak the balance.

This patch features a new Garrison model and balance tweaks for Radio Towers, RPG, shotguns, mortars and Rollermines. You can find detailed patchnotes below.

The Garrison

After many years of use the garrison has received a remodel.

Model by PouchyBoi (Jason Havens) and Textured by Spok.

Patch Notes

Colors:
- Replaced skyblue with cyan.

Radio Tower:
- Added auto-detection with 192 range.

Combine and Rebel shotgun:
- Damage reduced from 50 to 40.
- Amount of bullets reduced from 10 to 8.

Rebel RPG:
- Increased damage from 20 to 35.
- Min. attack range reduced from 228 to 128.
- Attack range reduced from 1088 to 1024.
- Removed bonus damage against "creature" units(vort, zombies, antlions).
- Reduced bonus damage against heavy units(flamer, elits) from 60 to 35.
- Reduced bonus damage against synth units from 100 to 90.

Rollermine:
- Increased population cost from 1 to 2.
- Increased stun duration from 0.89 to 1.34

Mortar:

Lambda Wars Update April, 4th 2020 - 3.13a



As the time passes, it becomes harded to work on the mod as it used to be. We have our own lives to take care of, and sadly it's not so easy to work so actively on this. I hope you guys can understand!

None the less though, to me, personally, Half-Life: Alyx was like a breath of fresh air, perhaps I'll work on Lambda Wars again once I have the proper hardware and time. Besides, we still have Mr. Lazy who's actively trying to change the game. This and some previous updates were published thanks to him. Here's the changelog:

Fixed:
- Veteran could not attack property.
- Combine mine's attribute didn't work property.
- Mines didn't take resources on its use.

Updated team colors.
- Updated hl2 orange, purple colors.
- Dark cyan replaced with teal.
- Red color replaced with dark red.
- Violet replaced with brown.
- Orange replaced with sky blue/white.

Other improvements:
- Removed unit avatar window from the hud.

- Added new maps: or_village.
- Fixed hlw_fortress: players couldn't build strutures at one part of the map.
