Preparing for the Future + New Loading Screens!


Greetings, Creators!

This morning’s update features another small batch of incremental changes as we ramp up to some heavy-duty updates ahead. The bulk of this update is under the hood, hidden beneath the surface like a submerged Thing raising its single eye, periscope-like, up from the corrupted depths... its disturbing tangle of limbs lurking invisible beneath the calm irradiated surface, and... what were we talking about again?

Oh yeah, new loading screens! We’re overjoyed to be able to kick the old savannah biome loading screen to the curb in favor of ten stunning screenshots submitted by our brilliant community. You might find yourself teleporting around and loading up worlds for no reason other than to gaze upon them!

New Features and Content
  • Ten new loading screens
Bugfixes
  • Fix for sounds playing on some models (like Haunted Idols) inside decorative containers
  • Fix for case where an announcement that world owner activated a seasonal encounter would appear, but the encounter itself wouldn’t
  • Fix bug where machine hotspots sometimes wouldn’t show up with the wiring tool equipped
  • Fix for “Reject All” on the map claim screen actually accepting all instead
  • Fences no longer connect to placemats, just like in real life

The Forbidden City Update Continues

This morning’s update features a set of under-the-hood improvements, some of which will help make Creativerse ready for some exciting upcoming features. There isn't anything new to check out quite yet, but our enthusiasm is high for those future updates; we think they’ll be worth the wait.

We’ll be monitoring your comments and feedback closely to see how these adjustments are performing out in the wild. As always, please let us know if you notice anything going awry.

Improvements
  • Performance improvements (reduced hitching when moving quickly across the map, and quicker arc sign toggling)
  • Placemat, Hidden Temple Chest, Medieval Chest, Flower Pot, and Wood Planter are now fully rotatable
  • All storage and decorative containers are now fire and explosion-proof
  • Cleaned up Mob Spawner menu (removed some duplicate and holiday mobs, added Twiggy, Hoglet, and Keepa)
  • Added alternate server messages for better communication during downtimes
Bugfixes
  • There can be only one: Fix for two blocks being named “Spiral Limestone Column”
  • Fix for ice slopes and stairs requiring stone mining cell to pick up
  • Blizzard Bomb can now be added to decorative containers
  • Blue Carpet is now flammable, just like its red and yellow siblings
  • Fixed missing icon for “Snowball Pile” on the loot spawner menu
  • Dismissed pets will once again leave behind loot bags, as if to say “thank you for abandoning me”
  • Fix for invisible faces on several outer corner blocks in certain configurations

Your challenge: capture a Creativerse moment that’s so breathtaking, thrilling, hilarious, frightful, or just plain amazing that it should be part of the game forever. That’s right - ten winning screenshots will be added to Creativerse as loading screens!

Rules & Restrictions
  • The deadline for entries is 11:59 AM CST on Monday, February 19, 2018
  • Important: screenshots must be exactly 1920x1080 resolution.
    • This is so the screenshot will work as a loading screen
  • Screenshots must be in the PNG or JPG format.
    • The Steam screenshot tool uses JPG and the Creativerse camera tool uses PNG, so if you use either of those, you’re probably good.
  • No UI; use the /hud command to hide the interface and and get a clear shot.
  • No Photoshop; we want 100% all-natural unedited screenshots.
  • No copyrighted stuff; this is not the time to share a screenshot from your Deadpool and Elsa go to Hogwarts adventure (although you should totally show that to us some other time).
  • Limit one screenshot entered per person. Take your best shot and make it count!
  • Make sure you’ve registered your email address in Creativerse so we can contact you if you win.

Q: Do I have to build everything in my screenshot myself?
A: Nope! This is a screenshot contest, not a building contest. But it is considered good manners to ask permission before snapping a shot of someone else’s build.

Q: Do I need to add the Creativerse logo to my screenshot?
A: Nope, we’ll take care of that for the winning shots.

Q: How do I upload a screenshot to Steam?

Q: Can I use something other than Steam (like imgur) to upload my screenshot?
A: Sure, as long as we don’t need a special account or anything to access it.

Q: Got any tips?
A: If possible, crank your draw distance and other visual options all the way up -- even if it’s just for the one second you need to snap a screenshot.

Q: Cool! Any more tips?
A: Did you know Creativerse has a built-in camera tool? It drops PNG format screenshots straight into a folder on your desktop. The default camera key is ‘p’ -- just be sure your game’s resolution is set to 1920x1080 so your shots are loading screen-ready.

A Pebble-Sized Update!

Creativerse R51 is a Pebble-sized batch of all the bugfixes and improvements that have piled up as we've been working on some bigger features & fixes for the future. We're gonna let those Rockster-sized improvements continue to simmer for a while longer, but in the meantime there's still plenty to enjoy in this modest Pebble of a patch.

Blocky the Snowman, a leftover brand new holiday decoration, has been a little cranky since he missed out on all the holiday festivities. Give him some sharp weapons to hold so he can fully express his surly brand of holiday spirit!

Plus we heard your feedback that it took too dang long to tame, wash, and harvest pets, so we sliced all those times in half with the fabled Lumite Sword of Balancing... or maybe Chase the designer changed three numbers in a data file. There's really no way to be certain.

New Features and Content
  • New decorative & weapon display item: Blocky the Snowman!
Improvements
  • Pet taming, washing, and harvesting times cut in half
  • Added opt-out option for newsletters when validating e-mail
Bugfixes
  • Fixed recent issues with Creativerse Pro occasionally vanishing for a bit
  • Costume icons now unified to face the same way. Finally!
  • End of World blocks can no longer be phased and replaced
  • Fix for other players with female characters playing male voices
  • Fix for multiple music box sounds not starting if they started on the same frame (via machine activation for example)
  • Sent the Holiday Hat costume to the dry cleaners - it came back cleaner and brighter
  • Fix for blueprints extending higher than world height causing lag
  • Very large blueprints now show up in-world preview (but may still show as incomplete depending on the size)
  • Fixed broken email and help buttons on main menu
  • Fix for that 1-pixel UI gap on Message of the Day panel that was driving everyone crazy
  • Fix for loot chests in decorative containers causing the container UI to open repeatedly
  • Fix for certain block types (like holiday lights) to correctly show random variants
