Follower System Guide

■ Follower Overview

All characters can be designated as followers. Assigned followers participate in battle as AI-controlled allies that support the player.

■ Follower Features
Combat Support Role: Followers support the player in battle by attacking or guarding against enemies based on AI behavior.

■ Follower Behavior During Combat
Default Positioning: Followers generally stay close to the player and automatically approach enemies to engage in combat when a battle begins.
Attack Pattern: Followers perform combo-based attacks and will dodge or guard depending on the situation.
Damage Response: Followers lose HP when hit by enemy attacks and visibly react to damage with appropriate animations.
※ Some animations and behaviors may appear awkward during the alpha test.

■ Revival System
When a follower is incapacitated during battle, they will enter a revival standby state. After a set period, they will automatically revive.
You can interact with them to revive them faster.

■ Follower Growth
Followers grow in the same way as the player. If a follower is later switched to a playable character, their growth progress will be retained.

Growth Elements:
- Base Stats
- Craft & Enhance Weapons
- Shared / Unique Abilities
- Level System (Shared Across Account)
※ Weapon enhancement levels persist when switching between follower and playable character. ※ All growth elements are applied to followers, but their final damage is adjusted when applied in combat.

■ Appearance Customization
Followers share appearance items with the player.
They use a unified appearance inventory, and any customized look will remain intact when the character is assigned as a follower.

■ Environmental Interaction
Followers can interact with certain environmental elements.
Can Interact With: Ladders, mantling, ziplines, etc.
Cannot Interact With: Doors, movable objects, falling traps, etc.

1) Normal / Elite Monsters

2) Boss Monsters

■ Boss Monster Special Attacks
1) Guard Break Attacks

Before a boss monster uses this pattern, you will be able to see a 'Yellow' flash. You cannot use the guard skill against these attacks.

2) Unavoidable Attacks
Before a boss monster uses this pattern, you will be able to see a ‘Red’ flash. You cannot use the guard skill, nor use the dodge skill against these attacks.

MAY DEV LOG

Greetings, Players! We're excited to bring you the May edition of our Dev Log.
Thanks to your continued support and encouragement, our team has been pushing forward with more energy.
Today, we’d like to share some of the features we’re working on to make your gameplay experience feel even more lively and immersive.
1. Interactions Through Gestures
[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
During the Pre-Alpha Test, you may remember traveling alone without meeting other players.
In the upcoming Alpha Test, we’re adding a variety of gestures to help you interact with other players in more expressive and engaging ways.

You’ll be able to greet players you meet in town, stretch together,
or even stage playful moments like falling, adding a layer of fun and personality to your interactions.
2. Karok’s "Precision Action"
[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
We hope you enjoyed the gameplay footage of Karok we recently shared!
With his debut drawing closer, we want to dive a little deeper into one of his key features: "Precision Action."

In the April Dev Log, we introduced the "Precision Action" system in Vindictus: Defying Fate.
Karok will also be able to perform a “Precision Action” by timing it precisely during a boss monster’s attack.

When executed, it will trigger a “Clash”, a dramatic contest of strength between Karok and the boss.

Of course, there’s always a chance the “Precision Action” might fail.
During our motion capture sessions, we’ve been working hard to showcase Karok’s unique personality across both success and failure animations.

We hope you’ll counter the boss’s attack with perfect timing, trigger a “Clash”, and create that thrilling moment of success.
As you do, our team will continue refining Karok’s actions to make them feel even better.

That’s all for the May Dev Log.
We’ll continue working hard to bring you even more exciting updates in the next one!

Thank you once again for your continued encouragement and support.

Sincerely,
Vindictus: Defying Fate Dev Team

World Overview & Key Regions
■ Game Overview
Vindictus: Defying Fate is an action RPG developed using Unreal Engine 5, based on the IP of Vindictus.

Set in a fantasy world inspired by Celtic mythology, the game tells the stories of various characters who defy their fate. With a reimagined narrative rooted in the original IP, it offers diverse combat tempos and action styles across each playable character.

You can enjoy unique combat experiences of each character, and can change them according to the situation to tackle the same enemies in various ways.

Character customization is one of the core elements of this game, allowing free appearance settings through body types (excluding the face), outfit combinations consisting of up to 5 parts, custom dyeing for each part of the outfit.
■ World Setting
The world is gripped by a long-standing war between two races, humans and the Fomors.
Each believes that only by annihilating the other can they fulfill the prophecy and reach the promised paradise, “Erinn.”

You, the player, are a member of the human faction’s Kalbram Mercenaries, taking part in the escalating conflict against the Fomors. However, this war is not simply about race. Greed, fractured beliefs, and clashes of differing values will test your resolve.

Your journey won’t always be guided by clear notions of good and evil, but every choice you make will change the course of your fate.
■ Key Regions
1) Northern Ruins

Ancient ruins now overtaken by nature. Once a sacred ground, the area is currently occupied by the “Gnolls,” one of the Fomor sub-factions.

This is the first major battlefield in the Alpha Test and acts as both a tutorial and the game's opening region. The deeper you venture, the more you’ll see a unique blend of weathered architecture and newly constructed structures from recent settlers.

Having once lived as nomads, the Gnolls now appear to be establishing a permanent settlement in the Northern Ruins, an act that’s rapidly intensifying tensions in the region.

2) Frozen Valley

A crystalline landscape formed by an ancient ice volcano.

A mix of winding valleys and cavernous interiors, this region alternates between indoor and outdoor environments.

Its glacial terrain and subdued lighting creates a chilling tension, with traces of resource mining scattered throughout. Some areas are connected to the surface, offering open visibility while also revealing that this land was designed for industrial use, much like a mining facility.

The Kobold Tribe, known for their resilience and labor, resides in the area, where tensions over resources may arise.

3) Colhen Village

Colhen is the game’s central hub and home to multiple systems and narrative progression.
Though it once suffered major destruction from a Fomor invasion, it was rebuilt by its villagers and is now also used as a base by the Kalbram Mercenaries.

The village represents a world where war and peace coexist, serving as a hub for various content and systems, including key NPC interactions, the Fitting Room, and customization features.

Certain features, such as weapon crafting for character progression and community-based features, are exclusively available in the village. After completing the main story, players can connect with others in real time, enabling rich multiplayer interactions.
