Patch Notes #88 - Love and Luck

[h3]Winter Will Come Again![/h3]
Holiday Isle and the 2024 Christmas Event are gone! To anyone that bought a key, don't worry, you'll be able to go to HI again next year without having to purchase another one!



[h3]Love and Luck Battle Pass[/h3]
Battle passes that follow the seasons of Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter are great but unfortunately, we've run out of seasons! Introducing the "Love and Luck" Battle Pass! Enjoy some Valentine's Day and St. Patrick Day themed cosmetics along with overhauled rewards now including Amethysts, Ice Plates and new Faction consumables to level up your Glacier Union rank!

[h3]Skill Balancing[/h3]
- Self Motivated 5 level requirement has changed from 60 to 56.
- Self Motivated 5 intellect requirement has changed from 300 to 280.
Self Motivated 5 requirements to use were too high for players entering MW and wanted players to be able to enjoy it while exploring the new zone.

- That's the Stuff 4 level requirement changed from 60 to 62.
- That's the Stuff 4 now gives -4% crit.
- That's the Stuff 4 buff timer has been changed from 10 minutes to 8 minutes.
That's the Stuff 4 gives an average of 125 HP per second. In comparison to TTS3 which only gave 20 HP per second. This is a super high jump and needs to be balanced. Instead of the traditional nerf to the HP values we're going to try adding negative 4% crit. This way the skill still does what it's supposed to do but at a small cost.

- All MW mobs, not bosses, have had their HP nerfed.
- Gold rates have been updated to match the HP changes.
- Reduced the amount of Alien and Cyborg Crabs kills in FU Quests.
- New SSC's have been delivered. Thank you for your support and love seeing your creations in game!
- Balanced Self Motivated 5.
- Balanced That's the Stuff 4.
- Removed Nice List Scraps from MW mobs.
- Removed 2024 Christmas Event NPCs.
- Removed Holiday Isle Shop and Sign.
- Changed the function of the Holiday Isle Teleport to TP you to MC. (don't leave if you're finishing crafts)
- Added Love and Luck Battle Pass
- Brought back Spring 2024 Battle Pass.
* Fixed the bug where non-combat skills were getting cancelled after a kill.
* Kills from party members now increment quest kill counters and unlock kill achievements. (You don't need to be the killer)
* Added kill achievement server code. (We now have a lot more achievements.)

Patch Notes #87 - Super Servers

* Upgraded our MySQL database.

* Upgraded Ubuntu on our game servers.

* Upgraded game servers from c7g.large to c7g.xlarge. 4 virtual cpus hurray!

* Fixed a bug where you would get kicked right on login.

* Steam version now clears Electron's Chromium cache on app start.

* Fixed the bug where you could see level up animations in zones above or below you.

* Casting is now cancelled when the mob you're attacking dies.

* Fixed the bug where lots of skill duplicates would appear when learning a new skill.

* Rewrote the Skillbook. Skills are now put into categories and sub categories sorted by rank and sorted by the level of the first skill in the series.

* Sent 1099-NEC forms to the two USA people I paid in 2024. Musician is in another country so I don't need to deal with that!

* Fixed the bug where you could invite/join parties while fighting.

* Added a referral code for each account. You can see your referral code in the Settings window. (More details coming in the future)

* Verified domain ownership with bluesky and now our handle is @fantasyonline2.com which is cool. https://bsky.app/profile/fantasyonline2.com

* Added a data endpoint to pull the last 5 bluesky posts for the upcoming welcome window.

* If casting is cancelled, the black animation over the skill being cast is now cancelled as well.

* Added https://fantasyonline2.com/api/public/character/leaderboard endpoint

* Added caching to the Guild Leaderboard endpoint.

* Fixed a bug with faction achievement unlocking.

* Added a Top 500 Players leaderboard to MC. It updates every 10 minutes from https://fantasyonline2.com/api/public/character/leaderboard. The sorting is by level then achievements. (We'll add more leaderboards in the future.)

* Setup JDK Mission Control and started using Java Flight Recorder to find bottlenecks.

* Found some bottlenecks and fixed them!

* Fixed the bug where items were stacking in Steam inventories.

* Added DDOS protection.

* Scaled back DDOS protection as it was too harsh. lol

* Optimized several areas where data is converted between JSON Objects.

* Optimized tick iteration of mob spawns.

* Turned off DDOS protection as it was giving a lot of false positives. I'll find some other better software to deal with it.

* Optimized the server rate limiters.

* Fixed a bug where transfering quest items between a bank tab and bags wouldn't inc/dec the quest counter.

* Fixed the bug where sometimes randomly a kill wouldn't count towards a quest.

* More optimizations across many parts of the server code.

* Fixed the Steam Inventory stacked item not transfering to mail properly bug.

* Added a check for buffs being full when trying to cast.

* While logging in to the Steam version, the game now checks if in-game achievements need syncing to Steam and then syncs. (Some people were having an issue where random achievements weren't unlocking on Steam)

* Upgraded to version 34 of Electron. Made a build and released it to Steam.

* FO2 has been reviewed by Steam's Steam Deck compatibility team and we are now marked as Playable!

Things to work on to become Steam Deck verified.

The freezing land of Frozen North has blown its way into FO2! Along with a new zone comes lots of new loot to discover, mobs and bosses to slay, secrets, and quests! Enjoy the notes below for sneak at other features coming in this patch. - Dino

[h3]Rebirth[/h3]
What is Rebirth? Rebirth is a new leveling mechanic that can be done in Frozen North once you've hit level 60. Find Frozen Death in the main town and get ready to experience the game all over again. Complete quests, level up and play the game from the beginning but this time with additional rewards! Every 4 levels you'll get a bonus stat point and the ability to level past 60! Other rewards for Rebirthing are currently in production.



[h3]Back Items and Elite Bosses[/h3]
With this update we're introducing some pretty tough bosses with great rewards, the first back armor items!!! Get out there and slay these bosses as quickly as you can to be immortalized in FO2 history!



[h3]Amethyst Gemstones[/h3]
New gemstone who dis? Stamina needs some love and to do that why don't we give it its own gemstone? Introducing Amethysts, Mega Amethysts and Uber Amethysts!



[h3]Glacier Union[/h3]
A new faction is here too! The Glacier Union is the organization being run by McFreezeGuy and his goons. Defeat mobs and bosses to level up your faction and unlock the ability to use high level gear and purchase the medallion, crest and faction outfit!



[h3]Dusty "The Guard" and Gem Dailies[/h3]
With daily gem quests moving to mining dailies let's make obtaining a pickaxe more fun! Head on over to Dusty "The Guard" in Mirabella Cove to lend a helping hand! Gem Dailies are now in CoSR, SG, FW, FU/FUU and FN.

* Fixed a bug with frozen death.
* Updated Market median query to be more accurate.
* Hacked a fix for a bug that came in BabylonJS 7.35.6 and now we're updated to the latest.
* Made many fixes due to changes in BabylonJS SpriteManager code.
* Fixed flicker when changing visible equipment.
* Setup development tools for iOS and Android using https://capacitorjs.com/
* Loot window now closes if the mob corpse rots.
* Fixed a bug where bags could get out of sync while looting.
* All devices with window size smaller than 1024x768 are now being detected as mobile devices. Under this size is when the current UI starts to overlap.
* Chat is now hidden on mobile.
* Game will now continue to send move messages even if your cursor is over unwalkable terrain. This means you can now get closer to things.
* Improved click selection code by seprating it from the cursor code.
* If your screen appears to be a mobile phone I now turn off a bunch of the UI and hide the cursor. (Work in progress for the mobile UI)
* Mobile phones now load the game and not a blank screen.
* Lockpick and Pickaxe now sell back to the shop for 1/2 which is 5 Gems.
* There were a handful of items (other than T1 masks) that could be sold back to the shop for Gems and those are no longer sellable to shops.
* Fixed a massive memory leak that happens on startup. Should use way less memory now.
* Added a worker queue for loading collision data. It was crashing mobile browsers when there were more workers than cpu cores.
* Fixed a bug where when you are moving and the cursor was over someone else you'd bounce back and forth.
* Fixed a cursor jump flicker.
* Disabled mobile browser touch and hold selection as it screws with gameplay.
* I now free the memory from the loaded map file after converting it into map layers in the game client.
* Greatly reduced the amount of memory the collision maps are using. (672MB > 21MB)
* Added a keep-alive message to keep browsers from throttling our web socket worker.
* Setup my iphone for development with Xcode.
* Ran the game on my phone in the capacitorjs app wrapper for the first time. Runs smooth.
* Got safe area insets working across all devices. See iPhone screenshots.
* Moved roman numerals to UI spritesheet and the game is now using that.
* Moved achievement background to the spritesheet as well so now it doesn't pop in when the achievement is shown.
* Rebirth icon added to player info.
* Market sell tab now has all bitmap fonts and shows price with commas.
* Casting particle area width now scales with your scale.
* Decreased the width of the market sell tab price text input.
* Fixed an old bug having to do with looting stackable items.
* Fixed another old bug having to do with bags opening/closing.
* Fixed a bug having to do with looting and where the loot ends up.
