FSR Hot-Fix

Quick follow-up to today’s FSR support update, this patch fixes a couple of important issues related to how FSR was being applied:

🔧 Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where FSR would auto-activate on systems without DLSS support, even if players didn’t manually enable it.
  • Fixed an issue where FSR Frame Generation would remain active after disabling FSR.
  • Fixed an issue where the saved DLSS setting would sometimes not activate properly until the player opened the options menu.

Thanks to everyone who reported these quickly!
If you run into anything else, please let us know via Steam Discussions or Discord.

AMD FSR Support Added!

Today’s update adds support for AMD FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution)!
This should offer a noticeable performance boost for players who weren’t able to take advantage of DLSS.

That said, we want to be clear:
We are actively working on real, game&engine-side optimization improvements.
Adding FSR isn’t a shortcut or replacement it’s a helpful option while we continue improving performance across the board. We know how important smooth performance is, and it’s a top priority for us during early access. Expect more improvements in the coming days.

And as always, keep giving us your feedback and bug reports through Steam Discussions and Discord.
Thank you all for your support, feedback, and patience as we keep pushing HELLBREAK forward!

Patch Notes (June 16)

Thanks again for all your continued feedback and reports. We’re back with another update focused on improving progression clarity, wave stability, and overall experience flow.

Improvements & Fixes:

  • Fixed a rare but important issue that caused some waves and bosses to not spawn properly.
  • The “!” indicator will now stay visible if you have a completed mission reward waiting to be claimed.
  • Rerolling a weapon or spell now guarantees a different one will appear—no more rerolling into the same item.
  • The Courtyard arena will now unlock if you complete a trial in Necropit even if you don't finish the required missions.
  • After picking up your first weapon, the game will only offer a new weapon 3 times until you level up more. This keeps the flow cleaner and avoids interruptions early on for people who want to use the Banshee.

We're hard at work polishing the game and making it smoother to play and progress through. If you encounter anything odd or have feedback, reach us via Steam Discussions or Discord.

See you in the arena 🔥

Quality of Life & Balance Update – June 14

[p]Another patch is live! Today’s update brings some key quality of life improvements and balance changes based directly on your feedback and what we’ve been observing post-launch.

Quality of Life Improvements:[/p]
  • [p]You can now push enemies (except bosses) by walking into them. No more getting body-blocked in tight spaces.[/p]
  • [p]Any non-AoE damage you take from behind (off-screen) now deals 50% less damage. This should make surprise projectiles and backstabs a bit less punishing. We’ll keep an eye on this and adjust the value if necessary.[/p]
  • [p] You now gain +1 reroll every 5 level-ups to help with build variety and flexibility.[/p]
[p]
Bug Fixes:
  • [p]Fixed a rare crash issue related to the first perk of the Bloodfang.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where the charged melee animation could get stuck.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug where the first level of the headshot damage increase perk was dealing more damage than the amount shown.[/p]
Balance Changes:[/p]
  • [p]Increased the base damage of the Banshee (starting pistol) by 5. This ensures that Tormented enemies now die in 2 headshots instead of 3, even without upgrades.[/p]
  • [p]Slightly reduced EXP requirements for the first few level-ups to smooth out early pacing.[/p]
  • [p]Reduced the homing speed of Oculon’s mines.[/p]
[p]
Mission Changes:[/p]
  • [p]Serathiel – Mission 2: Apply Inferno to 20 enemies → now 15[/p]
  • [p]Gholgoroth – Mission 2: Apply Blight to 25 enemies → now 15[/p]
  • [p]Varkoth – Mission 2: Use any spell 5 times → now 2[/p]
[p]
Let us know how it feels! As always, we’re active on Discord and checking the Steam Discussions regularly.

Thanks again for your continued support and feedback![/p]
