Thank You
[p][/p][p]I want to give a huge thank you to everyone who has supported End of Everything throughout the Early Access process and now into its full release stage.[/p][p][/p][p]Over the past few years working on this project, I’ve learned an incredible amount about game development. As a solo developer, every update, system, and improvement has been a learning experience, and I’ve done my best to listen to player feedback and shape the game in that direction.[/p][p][/p][p]I truly appreciate everyone who stuck with the project during Early Access and helped guide its development. Your feedback has been incredibly valuable in improving the game and pushing it forward.[/p][p][/p][p]I also want to apologize if the development process felt lengthy at times. During this period I was also completing my Game Design diploma at university, which helped me grow as a developer and allowed me to bring more knowledge and improvements back into the game and my studio.[/p][p][/p][p]Thank you all for your patience, support, and feedback along the way. It genuinely means a lot.[/p][p][/p][p]Development will continue as we move forward toward the 1.0.0 complete release, with many more improvements and features still to come.[/p]

[p][/p][p]🔗 Get End of Everything now on Steam

End of Everything — Update 0.2.3

🔧 Update 0.2.3

🚨 Critical Fixes & Core Improvements
[p][/p]
🛠️ Repair Station (Anvil) Exploit & Validation Fixes
[p]Fixed a critical item duplication exploit involving the Repair Station (Anvil)[/p]
  • [p]Certain non-repairable items could previously be inserted, causing duplication and broken interactions[/p]
  • [p]Stackable items can no longer be placed into the Repair Station, preventing unintended behavior and exploits[/p]
  • [p]The Repair Station (Anvil) now strictly validates repairable items and safely handles edge cases to prevent exploits and UI issues[/p]
  • [p]Added additional safety handling to prevent invalid items from being accepted through unusual inventory interactions[/p]
🗺️ Playable Area Boundary System
[p]Invisible wall edges have been removed[/p]
  • [p]Approaching the edge of the map now displays a screen overlay warning indicating you are leaving the playable area[/p]
  • [p]Remaining outside the boundary for 10 seconds will result in player death, preserving immersion while enforcing map limits[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where players could respawn inside or too close to the out-of-bounds trigger, causing repeated damage after death[/p]
  • [p]Players now correctly respawn safely back inside the playable area after an out-of-bounds death[/p]
  • [p]Adjusted out-of-bounds warning text to be wider and more readable across different screen sizes[/p]

🔧 Gameplay & Systems Updates
[p][/p]
🧠 Infected AI & Combat Overhaul
[p]Infected behavior has been significantly improved to feel more reactive, readable, and dangerous.[/p]
  • [p]Added a new Investigate state — infected will now search last known locations instead of instantly disengaging[/p]
  • [p]Added line-of-sight and field-of-view detection, preventing infected from reacting through walls or outside their vision[/p]
  • [p]Added hearing groundwork, allowing infected to react to sound-based events (footsteps, doors, gunshots) as this system expands[/p]
  • [p]Added a search pattern system, where infected scan and check multiple points around where you were last seen or heard[/p]
  • [p]Attacks now use a windup + recovery system for more readable, fair, AAA-style combat pacing[/p]
  • [p]Added type-based special attacks (where supported by animations):[/p]
    • [p]Walker — Grab[/p]
    • [p]Runner — Tackle[/p]
    • [p]Hellhound — Pounce[/p]
  • [p]Improved infected variety through type-based tuning (FOV, hearing range, chase frequency, attack tweaks, special chances)[/p]
🎮 Keybinds/Controller Support (Groundwork)
[p]Initial groundwork added for controller support[/p]
  • [p]Default keybinds have been added to the Gameplay tab in the in-game options menu[/p]

  • [p]Machete[/p]
  • [p]Stone Pickaxe[/p]
  • [p]Stone Hatchet[/p]
  • [p]Stone tools harvest resources slower than steel variants, reinforcing early-game progression and balance[/p]
  • [p]Added proper item descriptions for the Machete, Stone Pickaxe, and Stone Hatchet[/p]
💤 Sleep System — Risk & Reward Update
[p]Sleeping now involves a 30-second vulnerable period where no actions can be performed[/p]
  • [p]Upon waking, the player gains +20 HP[/p]
  • [p]This adds meaningful risk when sleeping in the open — placing a sleeping bag without nearby structures leaves you exposed during the sleep duration[/p]

🧍 Player UI & Respawn Fixes
[p][/p]
📊 Player Stats UI Update
[p]Player stats are now visible on the home screen and are fully functional (no longer placeholders)[/p]
  • [p]More stats will be added over time as systems expand[/p]
🏕️ Sleeping Bag Respawn Fix
[p]Fixed all known issues where sleeping bags would sometimes fail to become the player’s new respawn point[/p]

🔜 More Hotfixes & Planned Updates
[p][/p][p]The following features, fixes, and improvements are planned as development continues toward full release:[/p]
🧩 UI, Controls & Quality of Life
