HOTFIX - Patch v0.0.2

First off, a huge thank you to all who have bought and played Cats & Dice. Your support means the world to me.

Secondly, I apologize for a missing code that led to Steam Achievements not being recognized. This has now been fixed. HOWEVER, if you've unlocked any Cats or Items you will be locked out of getting any of their related achievements. Another update will be coming later to fix that, so there's no need to restart if you're keen on getting those achievements.

[h3]Regarding the Demo[/h3]
As Cats & Dice has undergone significant changes since the demo version, I've made the decision to take down the demo from the Steam page as I think it no longer adequately represents the game. HOWEVER, for those who must try the demo first, you can do so on the itch.io page.

Changes from the Demo:
- For your Boon/Bane picks; a Bane will now only affect you for a single round (much like a "Boss" fight), whereas a Boon will stick with you throughout the rest of your run. The Banes will also be much stronger to compensate for its temporary nature.

- A Quest system has been added to the shop. Should you choose to take a quest on, it may reward you in various ways in exchange for taking on more risk for the next round. In short, it's a risk/reward system.

- More cats and items and a rarity system.

- To win you'd have to make it through 24 rounds. There's also endless mode if you're up to the challenge.

- Many more changes much smaller in scale so I won't be listing everything out.


This is just the beginning as the game is in early access. There'll be more features and content to come. Enjoy the game and I hope you have fun! Join the community on discord.

[h3]Changes to the game[/h3]

Besides new Cats and items, there has also been a number of changes made to the game that are not reflected in the demo.

One such example is the Boon/Bane system. After looking at feedback and rigorously playtesting it myself, I've made some tweaks to it. A Bane will now only affect you on the round you pick it (much like a "Boss" fight in a sense), whereas a Boon will stick with you throughout the rest of your run. In the previous system where you'd accumulate Banes, it felt too stifling having to constantly plan and play around all the restrictions you'd get. And as you get more Banes it only gets worse.

Of course, to compensate for the fact that a Bane will only affect you for one round it now has much greater impact than before. Each Boon/Bane option will still be randomly paired together so you'd have to weigh the pros and cons of your decision.

Demo Patch v0.1.6

This is a bug fixing update. It should cover all currently known bugs in the demo.

[h3]Bug Fixes[/h3]
- Reroll cost reduction (ticket) in shop now works correctly and should keep the 1st reroll cost at $0 even after you exit and reload your run midway through a round.

- Restarting the game during certain moments can result in the Cat/item you've just bought reappearing in the shop. This has now been fixed.

- Mousing over cats or items in the shop while they are just popping up will sometimes result in them being matched with the wrong sprites or even render them invisible. This has now been fixed.

- Selling a Cat with item(s) equipped now display the correct amount of $ you'd get (Cats + items). Previously there was a visual bug where you'll still get the right amount but the $ indicated is wrong.

- Gecko Keychain and Sticker can sometimes trigger when other Cats trigger their passives (they should only be triggered when the Cats they are equppied on trigger their passives). This has now been fixed.

- You can get wrong numbers from Shieldmaiden buffing Sunstones if you have multiple Sunstones equipped on a single Cat. This is now fixed.
