Conquest: The next beta release is coming soon
[p]Hello everyone,[/p][p][/p][p]We want to share some of the progress we are making for Vanguard Galaxy while we work towards the 0.8 update. We will highlight a few features that we are very excited about. These features will be released in a beta branch on Steam first. Just like we did for the previous big update, we found it to be a great way to push out updates quick and gather feedback from players.[/p][p]If all goes well, these new changes should be ready for us to share next week.[/p][p]What you see below is still work in progress and will be improved upon as we keep developing Vanguard Galaxy.[/p][p][/p][h3]Conquest[/h3][p]The next area of the map will be accessible and it looks very different from the previous ones.[/p][p]
[/p][p]The three big corporations, as well as some minor factions, each feature on this map as the battle for Canis Majoris heats up. You will be able to support the faction of your choice in order to supply it with reinforcements. These reinforcements are then used by that faction to fight over territory against the other factions present on the map.[/p][p]Depending on your conduct, this can now have negative impact on your reputation with other factions. But no worries, there are embassies available where you can always restore your reputation (just put ECHO to work as a diplomat).[/p][p]One of the smaller factions you can support will make sure you need those embassies for sure. :)[/p][p]In this area you can also level up to level 60 and acquire better loot.[/p][p][/p][h3]Bigger Ships[/h3][p]In this update you will be able to acquire the first large ship types (Destroyers!!). Each of the factions will eventually get one (or more), so you will run into them out in the world as well. These bigger ships of course require bigger modules and hardpoints. So the large variant of modules and turrets will become available.[/p][p]
[/p][p][/p][h3]Mercenaries[/h3][p]As the requirements of your tasks grow, so does the need for companions in the field. You will be able to hire these Mercenaries to accompany you on your travels for a specific amount of time and cost.[/p][p][/p][h3]New Skills[/h3][p]With the new level cap also comes a new tier of skills for the existing skill trees. And you can of course acquire more skill points to spend on all these new possibilities. [/p][p][/p][p]And a few more things we want to mention that will be available when the beta release becomes available:[/p]
- [p]To improve the speed for active play, docking at a space station will be performed in the background. You can start interacting with the space station interior immediately, without having to wait for the entire docking animation to play out.[/p]
- [p]A new Jump Gate tech will be unlockable, through a side quest, to allow faster travel over bigger distances.[/p]
- [p]Ships will now have a speed limit, which mainly affects WASD usage. Also the interaction of spaceships with the map borders has been modified so that you cannot use it to speed up the ship.[/p]
- [p]Multiple fixes and performance improvements (full patch notes will be published later).[/p]
