Waking up thirsty: sleep system prototype

[p]In Paleolith, sleep isn’t just a menu option — it’s a real, animated action.
We’ve been working on a basic version of the sleep mechanic, and here’s how it works right now:[/p]
 • [p]The character lies down with a full-body animation[/p]
 • [p]Time speeds up — fatigue, thirst, hunger, and health change dynamically[/p]
 • [p]When thirst reaches a critical level, the character wakes up automatically[/p]
[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]This is just one part of a larger system where your needs shape how long you can rest and what happens while you sleep. In future versions, shelter warmth, weather, and dreams will all affect sleep.[/p][p]💬 We’d be happy to hear what you think — feel free to leave a comment.[/p][p]🔥 If you’d like to help us move faster, support us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/paleolith[/p][p][/p]

Spear fishing prototype and reactive water

[p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p](Direct link, just in case)[/p]
Here’s a look at our spear fishing mechanic - now supported by a reactive water system.
[p]The water responds to:
– fish movement
– player movement
– thrown objects like spears or rocks[/p][p]It’s intentionally hard to hit a moving fish - especially with imprecise tools and physical aiming. But when it works, it feels earned.[/p][p]This is still early and rough: some visual bugs remain, the spear is a placeholder, and wave settings need adjustment. But the interaction is starting to come together - and we’re excited to show you how it’s evolving.[/p][p][/p][p]Thank you for following Paleolith![/p][p]Even a small monthly pledge on Patreon helps us work faster - and believe in what we’re building.[/p][p][/p]

Core systems are starting to breathe – here's how it looks

[p]Hey everyone,[/p][p]We're making steady progress on the essential survival systems. Here’s a look at two core mechanics that are already playable: eating and fire maintenance.[/p][p](If this animation stutters or runs slowly on your device (especially on iOS), you can watch it on YouTube.)[/p]
🍎 Eating mechanic
[p][/p]
🔥 Fueling the fire
[p](If playback is choppy or unresponsive, you can see it smoothly on YouTube.)[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]There’s still a lot of work ahead — visually, technically, and mechanically — but we’re aiming to get all core systems playable and functional before polishing visuals.[/p][p][/p][p]If you'd like to support the project and help us move faster, consider becoming a patron:

🔥 Fire system – first look

Here’s a first look at our fire system in action. Everything you see is physical — no scripted burning
(Burning process below is sped up for clarity)
 • Logs burn down into chunks and disappear over time
 • Fire spreads between physically interacting logs
 • Sparks fly as wood crackles and shifts
 • Each log is a real object you can add to the fire

Next up: natural smoke, glowing embers, ash — and burning any stick you find in the woods.

Still early and rough, but already brings the fire to life.
