High Above Skylog Number 1: Testing The Japanese Theme

Hello everyone!

I thought I’d share a little update on what I’ve been working on these past few weeks. Lately, I’ve been focusing on polishing High Above a bit more - tweaking things here and there, and slowly adding some new, more complex features to the game.

As you probably know, in High Above you’ll be able to create your own little rooftop retreats, picking from different styles and building cozy spaces up in the clouds. Recently, I’ve been working on expanding one of those styles: a Japanese-inspired rooftop.

My goal is to give you as many tools as possible to create something that feels personal and unique. So I’ve been adding things like decorative trims for walls, styled windows, new plants, and furniture pieces, little details that (hopefully!) help bring your rooftop to life.

Here’s a small video to show you what I mean:

And now I’d love to hear from you!

1. What do you think about this Japanese-inspired style?
2. Would you imagine building something smaller and minimal... or bigger and more elaborate?

Feel free to share your thoughts, ideas, or suggestions in the comments. I always love hearing what you think.

Thanks so much for following along. Talk to you soon,

Alex

Welcome to High Above - Where a Rooftop Escape Awaits

Hello everyone!

My name is Alex, and I’m the solo developer working on High Above. Just a few moments ago, High Above was featured on the Future Games Show! As a fan of the showcase, I’m really happy and grateful for this opportunity. If you missed the show, you can watch the first High Above trailer right below.

I wanted to create a small game that serves as both a relaxing escape and a creative tool. So here it is - my passion project: High Above, a rooftop-building game about finding peace in the skies.

The idea behind this game is to let you create your own hideout on rooftops, high above the city's noise. You’ll be able to choose from different architectural styles - like Mediterranean, modern, Cuban, Japanese, and even post-apocalyptic themes. As you build and decorate your space, you'll see your rooftop come to life. A day-night cycle adds atmosphere, casting warm glows from lamps and lights at night. Animals may come by and visit, vines will grow and make the roof their home, and other small details will hopefully make your space feel alive.

I want High Above to offer complete creative freedom - so no time limits, no objectives, no stress. Just a space to relax and create at your own pace. I hope you’ll enjoy it.

This is just the first of many updates to come. I’d love to build this game with you, so if you’d like to stay in touch, please add High Above to your Steam Wishlist or join my Discord. Feel free to share your ideas and feedback - I’d love to hear what you think. And if you feel High Above is something your family or friends would enjoy, please share it with them - it would mean the world to me. Thank you!

Speak to you soon,

Alex
