Rainbow Six Siege Devs Reflect on 10 Years and the Game’s Future


When Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege launched ten years ago, I am not sure many people expected it to outlive many of the games released that same year. However, here we are, and the game is still going strong with a massive install base, an esports scene, and—judging by the looks of things—Ubisoft has no plans to slow down. Rainbow Six Siege has managed to evolve with the times, and with a team of almost 1,000 people working across Ubisoft, it is a force to be reckoned with.





On a recent visit to Ubisoft Montreal, I had the chance to chat with Siege creative director Alexander Karpazis and Siege game director Joshua Mills about the game and where Siege is heading in the future. Ubisoft Launches Wildcards Siege Mode to Celebrate 10th Anniversery


Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege X is getting a limited-time mode called Wildcards Siege to mark the game’s 10th anniversary, introducing player-voted modifiers that change gameplay each round.





Since launch, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege has defied expectations, building a strong competitive scene and attracting more than 100 million players. Now marking its 10-year anniversary, a milestone few online games reach, Ubisoft is introducing something special. From Dec. 15 to Jan. 5, the game will feature a new limited-time mode called Wildcards Siege.





Wildcards Siege places players in a 5v5 bomb match on the reworked House map. This time, however, gameplay comes with a twist. At the start of each round, players vote on modifier cards that can drastically change how the match plays out.
