Demo - MAJOR Overhaul and Polish Ver. 1.7

[p]Grimdelve version 1.7 is chock full of quality of life, visual polish, and content updates. This is an extensive overhaul of most of the demo thanks to the feedback of Rainy Tei Production.[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]Some of the included updates are:[/p]
  • [p]Voice actor JustTrent77 lends his voice to the opening cinematic[/p]
  • [p]Improved the blood and gore visuals[/p]
  • [p]Character motivations are clearer and more mature[/p]
  • [p]New custom cursor[/p]
  • [p]Retooled the speech system for the yet-to-be identified green soldier[/p]
  • [p]Fixed so many bugs and probably made some new ones...[/p]
[p]New face graphic art also coming soon, just waiting on my incredible artist! Good art takes time and yes I do say that with subtle anti generative AI undertones. Also also, I retooled much of the Steam page. Screenshots are more representative of current content, so look at those if you also want a sneak peak of all the new stuff in this update! [/p][p]The demo is nearing completion. Once it's super solid, we begin the long period of silence while I make the rest of the game. Though, somewhere in there I will likely also run a kickstarter. Stay tuned cavedivers and thank you for supporting Grimdelve![/p]

Complete Demo? - Version 0.1.6

[p]Hello cavedivers,[/p][p][/p][p]With Version 0.1.6 comes the skeleton of what I plan to be the final demo build of the game. Every bit of content demo-wise, at a basic level, is now available! However, polish and options related to traits are still subject to change. I am trying to find a happy medium between freedom of choice and being able to actually finish this game in a reasonable timeframe. Anyways, below are a list of additions and changes:[/p][p][/p][p]-NEW CONTENT! There are new scenes past where the previous demo ended, showcasing the darkest parts of Grimdelve.[/p][p]-Some dialogue has been reworked to be less out of place / confusing.[/p][p]-Added some more sprite animations, including some more nudity (big day for the gooners).[/p][p]-Fixed the boulder pushing puzzle in the crawling section.[/p][p]-Fixed some footstep sounds to better match their environment.[/p][p]-Made the timer look better and break the game less (hopefully).[/p][p][/p][p]The demo now matches where I am currently in the game development process. We have finished the content of the demo, which is a great milestone on the road to releasing! Of course, there will be bugs in this build so if you find any, use the in-game form or email me at [email protected]! Look forward to more coming soon.[/p][p][/p][p]ToastyTime[/p]

HUGE Audio Visual Update V. 0.1.5!

[p]Grimdelve Alpha Version 0.1.5 brings with it a TON of much-needed and overdue features, such as:[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Super immersive, directional audio! I love footstep sounds so I gave everything footstep sounds![/p]
  • [p]Text display sound effects! Now Grimdelve is similar to another game set underground...[/p]
  • [p]Cave dust! Caves are dusty, now Grimdelves caves look dusty too![/p]
  • [p]Fixed silly bugs that you all found! Luckily none were game breaking...[/p]
  • [p]I attempted to do some custom sprite work.[/p]
  • [p]Stealth is much less broken now![/p]
  • [p]Fixed a variety of grammar issues.[/p][p][/p]
[p]TLDR: Grimdelve looks prettier, sounds better, and plays smoother. As always, if you find that it doesn't for you, be sure to shoot me an email: [email protected][/p][p][/p]

Version 0.1.4 Released

I have been getting some really great feedback on Grimdelve and some incredible people have helped me find a number of bugs! In this version, bugs in Grimdelve should be few and far between (save for the beetles you'll find scurrying around the caverns).

  • "Fixed" stealth collision bug with a workaround
  • Fixed move route bug that resulted in a hard lock
  • Removed Arabic and instead created a randomized, gibberish language
  • Fixed falling not causing damage
  • Changed some dialogue to make more sense and flow better, including tutorial text
  • Updated controller detection to
  • hopefully* show the proper button prompts
  • Enabled the use of Esc to enter and exit the menu like in most RPG Maker games

Version 0.1.3 Stealth + New Gisela Content!

Version 0.1.3 brings HUGE changes to the caverns of Grimdelve, the biggest of which are brand new stealth mechanics and an additional ~10 minutes worth of scenes featuring Gisela! We are now nearing the completion of the DEMO content, currently only one more sequence featuring Jaro is planned. Once this is added, devlog updates will persist until the game is finished, which should hopefully take a year once the demo is in a completed state.

NEW FEATURES:

  • Stealth! Enter stealth mode to hide the sounds of your steps, but be careful because other things, like lighting your lantern, still make noises. Creep around in the darkness to avoid a new enemy, or try using your traits to get you away safely if you get caught!
  • Scenes featuring Gisela! See her adjust to life underground and decide what first impression she will leave on her new fellows...
  • Dialogue lines, both trait-dependent and not, to help flesh out our characters.
  • Ability to rebind ALL of your keys as you see fit.
  • Improved health system! With the addition of stealth, there needed to be a way to die. But, not everything will instantly kill you. Perhaps you escape your assailant harmed but not dead, or perhaps you survive an otherwise deadly fall...
  • New music and enhanced sound design, including directional footstep sounds!
  • Other minor bug fixes / grammar fixes.

The addition of stealth brings with it a whole host of other issues, especially since it's a mechanic not often seen in RPG Maker games.
