I'm hoping to have time to put out another content update soon. Just wanted to fix a few smaller issues with this update.

1.852 Holster Update

Just a quick update that will aid in grabbing/putting away weapons without difficulty

-Added a highlight around the holster objects to make them more visible.

Explosives Update (v1.85)

Today, I have released the Explosives Update for Containment Initiative. This update includes a few fun new toys to play with and some great improvements for the game overall.

Features:
Grenade Launcher
This weapon has been a blast(no pun intended) to create. It's a single shot M79 Grenade Launcher that uses a break barrel mechanism for reloading. When zombies bunch up, you can create absolute carnage with just a single blast from it. You can damage and kill yourself and your teammate if you get to close to the blast, so be careful! The weapon is available as a sidearm, so you can dual wield this with other guns just like the Sawed-Off Shotgun. It will cost $10,000 and is available to purchase under the Equipment menu.

Here is some longer gameplay with audio:
Propane Tanks
If you can't afford the Grenade Launcher, then don't worry, you can still have plenty of fun with these new tanks. Propane tanks will now spawn in random locations in most missions. You can carry them around and shoot them to create an explosion. Being able to use them strategically with your partner is a lot of fun.
New Muzzle Flash Effects
As part of this update, the game engine was updated to Unity 2018. This caused some issues with existing particle effects and I ended up having to replace a good chunk of them. The end result looks much better than before:
Holster Adjustment
This has been a long requested feature that finally made it into this update. You can now adjust the vertical positioning of your holster in the options menu.

Full Update Notes:
-Grenade launcher sidearm added
-Propane tanks added as random spawns to most levels
-Holster height adjustment added to options menu
-Engine upgrade to Unity 2018
-Minor menu adjustments to accommodate additional sidearm
-New Particle Systems(Muzzle flashes, etc.)

This update was a particularly tough one to work on due to one major personal change. As of last month, I'm now a dad. Turns out it's a lot harder to put an update out when you have to take a break from blowing up zombies to change diapers.

Next month marks five years since I started work on the game. I just want to thank everyone who has played and supported development during this time. Working on this has been an amazing opportunity and I just want to let everyone know how much I appreciate them playing it.

If you have any questions/comments regarding the update, please come join the Discord. I'm usually around and am happy to answer any questions you may have.

If you are interested in looking back at how the first Early Access release looked, here's a video of the game back in 2016:(Spoiler: It's awful and really embarrassing)

Containment Initiative 1.8 Released

Tonight I have pushed the 1.8 update for Containment Initiative. This update includes some major graphical overhauls on two maps(Defense: Bridge, City), a new Challenge mode, as well as a new side arm: the Sawed-Off Shotgun.

Features:
Sawed-off Shotgun
The new sidearm is the first to allow you to dual wield guns in the game. I have to say I had a blast creating it and playing around with it. Loading shells and then flicking your wrist to close the barrel feels superb. You can obtain this weapon by completing the new Challenge Mode.

Some separate gameplay with audio(ignore the multiple shotgun reload sounds, I was testing an automated reload of the existing in game shotgun):
Volumetric Fog/Lighting Upgrades
The two Defense maps have had a major visual overhaul. They always stuck out visually as a bit of a sore spot before this update. This brings them in line with the rest of the game visually.
Challenge Mode:
Also included in the update is a new Challenge mode that includes permadeath along with making zombies faster and stronger. You can select this mode in the options menu. Zombies will be 20% faster and do 25% more damage. If you complete the Challenge Mode without dying, you are rewarded with the Sawed Off Shotgun. I'm planning on adding additional difficulty and variety in this mode in the future.
UI Updates:
Some of the UI elements were in dire need of updating in the main menu. I've included icons and pictures for nearly all of the equipment/attachments in addition to simplifying everything in order to make it easier to understand for new players.
Full Update Notes:
-Sawed Off Shotgun sidearm added as the reward for completing Challenge mode(Decided to revert the unlocking of all utility items on completion of challenge mode. This is the only reward aside from the achievement)
-UI Updates(New icons for equipment, new font, some positional adjustments)
-Fixed a bug where the shotgun could reload itself forever when simple reload was selected
-Bridge re-made with new models and fog system
-City Defense lighting revamped
-Challenge Mode added: Resets all objectives upon activation, Zombies move 20% faster, do 25% more damage, Permadeath(Resets all objectives if you die or fail mission), Completing challenge mode nets you a new achievement Sawed off shotgun
-Scavenge City map added to multiplayer(Disabled currently until more testing and dev work is completed
-Improved reload animations for PC player ground support
-PC player ground support fire rate increased by 25%

I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday at the end of what's been a pretty crazy year. Here's to hoping that 2021 will be better.

Thanks for playing,

-CiDev
