Twilight Hunt

As many as nine special ships await you in our new temporary battle type which pits sixteen players against each other! Welcome to the Twilight Hunt—a revamped version of the Big Hunt event from Update 0.10.2.

Ships will sail out for the "Hunt" in the third week of Update 0.10.9, and you can expect to continue hunting until Update 0.10.10 goes live.

Rules
Take the helms of fantastic future warships, clash against other players, and confront the ships of the Twilight Fleet!
Starts: Thu. 21 Oct. 07:00 CEST (UTC+2) End: Thu. 11 Nov. 07:00 CEST (UTC+2)

[expand] [/expand]
Apart from IX Valkyrie, IX Gale, IX Heracles, X Hector, X Avenger, and X Whirlwindships that you're probably already familiar with—you will also be able to join the battle on monster ships X Fangblade, X Thornridge, and X Lobster-Eyed.

[expand] [/expand]
You and 15 other players will be matched against each other on the updated Polygon map, where you won't just be fighting against each other, but also against AI-controlled ships of the Twilight Fleet. Your primary battle objective is to grab as many Battle Points as you can and exit the Polygon via the Portal located at the center of the map. Be cautious, though, as the Portal opens up only some time after the start of each battle.

The Twilight Hunt ends when all surviving players exit through the Portal or when the battle time expires. For this reason, it is better not to stay in the Polygon for too long—the Portal will not stay open forever and, as the battle nears its end, AI-controlled ships of the Twilight Fleet will start hunting down any remaining players, headed by the formidable boss ship Rasputin. For destroying ships of the Twilight Fleet and other players, you will get a temporary resource—Battle Points—that you can use to reinforce your ship directly in battle.

You can team up with other players during the battle. The Twilight Hunt's difficulty intensifies each week—the time it takes for the Portal to open, as well as the HP pools and damage dealt by the Twilight Fleet ships (as well as the amount of Battle Points earned by destroying them!), increase. The maximum team size also increases—from three players in the first week to six players in the third week.
A Few Tips From Us...
• Destroy the first Twilight Fleet ships you encounter, then upgrade your ship. This will give you an advantage in the following engagements.
  • Try to assemble a team of your own or join one with other players. Fighting side by side with your allies will increase your chances of escaping via the Portal. You will always start out alone, even if you enter battle as part of a Division. You will need to locate your Division mates on the map before you can team up with them.
  • You can place markers on the Minimap when playing as part of a team. These markers will be visible to all team members and will help you coordinate your actions. To place a marker, press Сtrl + on the Minimap.
  • As you get closer to the center of the map, the ships of the Twilight Fleet will become increasingly stronger, but you will also earn more Battle Points for destroying them.
  • Keep an eye on Rasputin's arrival timer. This will help you ensure that you are in the right place and combat-ready when she finally arrives. Defeating the boss ship will bring you and your team the most Battle Points.
  • Do not be afraid to experiment—you need to act unpredictably in the Polygon.

[expand] [/expand]
Combat Missions and Rewards
You can access special weekly combat missions during the event. Completing the missions requires you to earn Battle Points in the Twilight Hunt or Base XP in Random, Ranked, and Co-op Battles, as well as in Operations.

Rewards for weekly combat missions: Up to  130 Twilight Tokens and up to 2x Jack-o’-Lantern containers.

To stock up on Community Tokens, you can progress through daily and weekly missions that can only be completed in the Twilight Hunt.

Rewards for daily combat missions: Up to  30 Community Tokens, Free XP and Elite Commander XP, Credits, and XP that counts toward your daily container progress.

Details about the mission completion criteria and rewards are available in the game client. Once the event is over, any XP earned playing the special ships will be transferred to Tier I cruiser Orlan. More details are available in the game client.

Rewards for completing daily missions for Community Tokens: up to  1,300 Community Tokens.

You can find more Community Tokens in our articles. Stay tuned for more news, and be sure to share the articles with your friends so they can also enjoy claiming gifts!

The new temporary resource— Twilight Tokens—can be exchanged in the Armory for themed Commanders with 10 skill points; Intanian Fleet permanent camouflages for VIII Admiral Hipper, VIII Hsienyang, VIII Implacable, IX Kitakaze, IX Dmitri Donskoi, and IX Iowa; Jack-o’-Lantern containers; and other items.

You can earn Twilight Tokens by completing combat missions or obtain them in the Armory in exchange for Doubloons and Community Tokens.
You can exchange Twilight Tokens before: Fri. 19 Nov. 07:00 CEST (UTC+2)

Once Update 0.10.10 goes live, they will automatically be exchanged for Credits at the rate of 1:15,000.
Battle Points
You can earn Battle Points by destroying Twilight Fleet ships and the ships of other players. Rasputin, the boss ship, will bring you the most Battle Points. Be careful though—vanquishing Rasputin and her escorts will not be easy, even with a team.

Having accrued enough Battle Points, you can reinforce your ship directly in battle. To select one of the two improvements, use Ctrl+1, Ctrl+2, or Ctrl + on the preferred improvement. You do not spend any Battle Points in the process of improving your ship, so make sure to reinforce your ship as soon as you are able!

Successfully exiting via the Portal will double your earned Battle Points. If you fail to escape the Polygon, you will still get any Battle Points you accrued in battle. In total, you can earn up to 10,000 Battle Points in a single battle. These will be counted toward your combat mission progress.
Ships and Armaments
A total of nine special ships for the Twilight Hunt are available in Update 0.10.9. The three dreadful new ships— X Fangblade, X Thornridge, and X Lobster-Eyed—will unlock once you complete the corresponding combat missions.

Commander skills, camouflages, and signals are disabled in the Twilight Hunt.
Fangblade
[expand]

An elusive, powerful ship that can zero in on its prey in mere seconds, strike, and sneak away.

Earn 12,500 Battle Points to unlock X Fangblade.

[/expand]
Thornridge
[expand]

This ship is second to none in terms of her agility. She can reach full speed—and come to a full stop—in the blink of an eye.

Earn 25,000 Battle Points to unlock X Thornridge.

[/expand]
Lobster-Eyed
[expand]

A blend of devastating firepower, a huge HP pool, and mediocre firing accuracy.

Earn 62,500 Battle Points to unlock X Lobster-Eyed.

Developer Bulletin for Update 0.10.10
IMPORTANT! Because the update is still being tested, the information in this Bulletin is tentative and reflects the state of game development at the time of its publication. Some changes and new features may be removed entirely or implemented differently by the time the update goes live. Screenshots, specific values of certain characteristics, and details of in-game mechanics will not necessarily be relevant after the update is released.

Please note: The rewards for activities on the Public Test server may differ from those on the live server.
Superships in Ranked Battles
Update 0.10.10 kicks off the Fifth Season of Ranked Battles, and you can participate in the action at the helms of superships. In addition to superships Satsuma and Hannover, which you are probably already familiar with from the Grand Battle, the following steel giants await you in the game:
  • French cruiser Condé—a large heavy cruiser armed with twelve 240 mm guns housed in quad-gun turrets. The ship's air defenses are represented by both post-war dual-purpose guns and dedicated AA weapon systems.
  • U.S. cruiser Annapolis—a project that embodies the development of the Des Moines-class heavy cruisers. The key distinctive features that were not present in her prototype are her larger dimensions and increased firepower, the latter of which was achieved by arming the ship with an additional main battery turret.
  • Japanese destroyer Yamagiri—a large, fast destroyer equipped with dual-purpose main guns and powerful torpedo armament comprising three sextuple-tube torpedo launchers.
  • Soviet destroyer Zorkiy—a project for a high-speed armored flotilla leader. She is armed with dual-purpose guns and dedicated AA guns designed in the U.S.S.R. in the early 1950s, with their designs having drawn upon lessons learned in war.

[expand] [/expand]
Similar to Satsuma and Hannover, the new ships have their own distinct mechanics. They will offer players alternative tactics in battle and generally increase gameplay diversity.
Alternative Firing Mode: Burst Fire (Condé, Zorkiy, and Annapolis)
Each turret has one additional firing mode. It can be activated by pressing the F key. After switching to this mode, each separate turret can deliver several consecutive salvos in rapid succession before being subjected to a long reload. Activating this mode changes gun characteristics such as shell dispersion and penetration capabilities.
Alternative Torpedoes (Yamagiri)
The Japanese superdestroyer is armed with two types of torpedoes that can be switched between in battle. The torpedoes differ by parameters such as range, speed, and damage. Switching to the alternative torpedoes takes an additional fixed amount of time that's separate from the reloading mechanic. Torpedo launcher reloading is suspended while switching to the alternative torpedo type and then resumes immediately after.
Adjustment Fire Bonus (Satsuma and Hannover)
Satsuma and Hannover's adjustment fire bonus no longer triggers automatically. It is now activated by pressing the F key. This change will allow players to apply the power-up bonus at the most optimal moment.
Fifth Ranked Battles Season
The Fifth Season of Ranked Battles is going to be held in a 7 vs. 7 format playing Tier X ships. Superships will also feature in all three leagues! Superships will be subject to the same restrictions applied to their "standard" counterparts. Superships will be available for rent from random bundles. This will help us prevent the battle queue from filling up with superships only.

In addition to Ranked Battles, you can also helm superships into Co-op Battles—a great place to master the new ships and their mechanics in a more relaxed environment.

Details of the Fifth Season of Ranked Battles will be announced later.
Battle Performance Bonuses
In Update 0.10.10, you can earn festive battle performance bonuses on all of your ships of Tier V and above. Depending on the ship's tier, you can grab Coal, Steel, or a special temporary resource that you can exchange for Santa's Gift containers in Update 0.10.11.
Arms Race
Arms Race is back as a temporary battle type in Update 0.10.10. This represents an important testing round before we add Arms Race to Random Battles at some point in the future.

Arms Race brings various buffs scattered around the map that spice up the usual flow of battle. Once picked up, they benefit your entire team by improving their combat characteristics right until the end of each battle.

The new iteration features new buffs that boost armament damage and increase the current and maximum HP values. You can also expect the following changes:
  • The HP-regenerating buff turned out to be overly effective compared with others and reduced the appeal of the Repair Party consumable for players. We've reduced the efficiency of the buff while also refocusing it to first restore the parts of ships that cannot be repaired by the Repair Party consumable.
  • The following buffs have been removed: consumable reload acceleration for ships and squadrons; ship speed increase and rudder-shift time reduction, and aircraft Engine Boost consumable reload time reduction.
    • Reducing the reload time was not as effective as we had intended. It provided a significant bonus only after several levels of this buff had been picked up. Players were only able to achieve this in the middle or closer to the end of a battle when most ships are typically left with just a few consumable charges or none at all.
    • Boosting ship speed and maneuverability was excessively effective for a limited number of ships. For most ships, this boost was of little benefit.
  • We have added an economic reward of XP and Credits for players who pick up buffs, but we have also brought the number of buff levels down from six to three. This will enhance the overall effect provided by each particular level.
  • More buffs will now spawn in "neutral waters," and ships will start each battle in wide formations like they do in Random Battles.

[expand] [/expand]
In Update 0.10.10, we are going to launch Arms Race in test mode with Tier IX–X ships clashing in a 12 vs. 12 format. Details about the conditions of the Arms Race mode will be announced at a later date.
Visual Improvements and Changes
Update 0.10.10 brings quite a few large-scale improvements and changes to the graphics as we continue working on the game's visuals.
New water
Water simulation and visuals have been completely reworked for all maps. The new simulation system can create waves of any shape and height while also adding realism to wave dynamics. This means that waves will now gently rock a ship, and the ship will produce a response that varies according to the wave height. This change will not affect gameplay.

We have improved the display of the sun glitter path over water and other optical effects on the water's surface. Added dynamic seafoam and updated the ship wake effect.

With low graphics settings, water simulation will remain unchanged.
HD textures on maps
We are launching a massive update for all maps and Ports to accommodate enhanced HD textures. In Update 0.10.10, high-detail textures will be added to the Two Brothers and Hotspot maps, as well as the Philippines, Saint-Petersburg, and Twitch Prime Ports.

[expand] [/expand]
Future updates will bring high-detail textures for other maps and Ports. However, like with HDR lighting, such an update requires a huge amount of content to be reworked and an individual approach to each map and Port. For that reason, adopting the new technology for all maps and Ports in the game will take time and be implemented incrementally with the release of future updates.
Underwater world, vegetation, and animations
We are continuing to improve the underwater world in our game. In Update 0.10.10, we have added underwater vegetation on the Two Brothers and Hotspot maps. The underwater world will also appear on the Haven, Sleeping Giant, and Crash Zone Alpha maps. In the next updates, we will focus on adding improvements to the underwater world on other maps as well.

[expand] [/expand]
Vegetation has been enhanced on all maps and in all Ports. Trees look more realistic with enhanced shading and rays of sunlight shining through the green foliage. We have also reworked the wind–tree interactions. We have added more trees and other green foliage on maps.

Ports and maps with HD textures now feature birds, fish, flying flags, and other moving objects. We'll continue adding more animations to maps and Ports over time.
Other Changes
We have added the following five achievements that can only be earned by playing as part of a Division in Random Battles:
  • Coordinated Attack: Your Division must destroy at least seven enemy ships.
  • Hand to Hand: Your Division must damage at least 10 enemy ships. The damage caused to each ship must amount to at least 20% of her normal HP.
  • Brothers-in-Arms: Each Division mate must destroy at least two enemy ships in a single battle.
  • Strike Team: Damage caused by a Division must be equal to 50% or more of the consolidated total normal HP of all enemy ships.
  • General Offensive: A Division must destroy ships of three different types.

The conditions for earning Division Stars (victory bonuses issued to Clanmates) have changed. You can now get a Division Star playing with each of your Clanmates as many as three times by:
  • Winning a battle
  • Earning the Coordinated Attack achievement
  • Earning the Strike Team achievement

Throughout the entire duration of Update 0.10.10, the Engagement stage of the Naval Battle will be held in a group format. Clans will be randomly divided between several groups of 25 or 50 Clans each. The amount of Oil earned depends on the number of Stars obtained and the Clan's place in its own group. Once Update 0.10.11 goes live, the standard format of the Engagement will be replaced with the group format every four weeks.

[expand] [/expand]
We have reworked the portraits of all Commanders in the game and brought them to a uniform size. Added new Commander portraits for the U.S.; Great Britain; the U.S.S.R.; Italy; Pan-Asia; and France.
