Panama Beta Soon

I'm almost done with the final chapter of the Panama DLC. Making the combat will be easy, but I'm still trying to write some good endings, team dialogue, and a possible romance (just for the hikikomori players).

I want the finale to be damn good, so it's gonna take another week or two for the Beta release. Sorry I keep postponing it.

The Beta won't have voice acting and there will probably be some bugs, though not nearly as many as when Oaxaca released. This time it will just be a few script bugs, and of course I'll fix those immediately after reported.

Anyway, screenshots are below.

Version 5.4

Thanks for sending your difficult saves, and please keep doing it ([email protected]). I used them to add a couple more items to make life easier on the final map and the Beneath the Ruins map (the hardest parts of the game). I also added clotheslines, a bit more garbage, junk items, as well as a couple more structures. You have to start a new game for story file changes.

Panama DLC will be out in a couple more weeks.

Complete list of fixes:

SOURCE CODE:
-Fixed minor bug with player cursor in character info screen.
-Reset character's X angle when changing teammates (instead of looking at feet initially).
-Usable objects only work if they have a name now.

SCRIPTS:
-Clotheslines change depending on controlling faction and weather.
-Fixed bug where AARFY would attack even after player accepts the deal.
-Added new option in barrel INIT script: Wooden Barrel (destructable).
-Added USE scripts to barrels and crates that will show descriptions.

RESOURCES:
-Added new textures: "clothesline.bmp", "clotheslineB.bmp", "clotheslineC.bmp".
-Added new textures: "barrelG.png", "barrelGBroken.bmp".
-Improved texture: "cloudyNightShipC.dds" (made Polyphonic darker in background).

STORY FILE: (requires starting a new game)
-Removed shelter and bed from Lonely Coast map and added a house with a locked door.
-Added antiviral pills and a deep mushroom (for infravision) to the Beneath the Ruins map.
-Added some extra items to the lower levels of the final map.
-Changed all barrels and crates to usable objects.
-Added clotheslines to various towns.
-Added some more garbage, junk, etc.

Please Send Saves

Brigand is a complicated game and there's no way I can test every single build and every single path through the game for balance. Some stuff will always work better than other stuff. It's also impossible for me to erase all the info I have in my brain to play test it as a new player.

So my request is, please send me your saves on a difficult or exciting part of the game, and let me try it out. Also, let me record video of playing your character and upload it to Youtube. I will also post whatever link you want for some marketing ass-scratching, or consensual back-scratching or whatever it's called.

My email is: [email protected]

Send good saves.

Version 5.3C

Alright alright alright.

Got a minor update here, fixing some skill balance issues in chapter 9, and some other shit.

Complete list of fixes:

SOURCE CODE:
-Objects with material set to "animal" no longer pulsate if they have a name (ex: severed heads).

SCRIPTS:
-Chapters 9 and 10 now give you 10 skill points instead of 8, mainly so the player can upgrade Software and recover equipment.
-Fixed bugs in some map script files (AKA ticker scripts) in which indoor ambient sounds weren't set.
-Decreased Software requirement for McVannon's Bedroom door from 20 to 10 on the Polyphonic.

STORY FILE: (requires starting a new game)
-Changed cliffs slightly outside Pochutla Warehouse District so Tio doesn't get stuck on them.
-Added a medkit and two methane grenades to the security room of the Polyphonic (to make Ch. 9 easier).
-Added text "Hacking for Morons" to basement of Junkfort.

Bug Fix and Planned Release Date

Whoops, since I always play test with the sound off listening to stupid podcasts, I didn't notice there was a script problem with the inside/outside ambient sound on some maps. Sometimes the ambiance would completely be cut off when you go inside. Fixed now.

Also, my official planned release date for the Beta of Brigand: Panama is August 3rd. Then it will take another week for some kind-hearted folk to playtest the beta and for me to finish getting voice acting done. So August 10th. I can't promise it won't be postponed, since you know, any fuckin thing could happen.
