Beta 9.4 - Controller Fixes

Beta 9.4 includes some fixes and some changes to controller support in HammerHelm along with some other updates.
  • Moving the right-stick up and down now correctly moves the camera up and down.
  • Pressing the Left Stick toggles sprint mode.
  • Pressing the D-pad left and right will now cycle through your hotbar correctly.
  • Pressing up on the D-pad will activate the highlighted hotbar and use the item in it.
  • Rolling backwards now costs 10 stamina. The same as right and left rolls.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed the character to continue moving when the Town Manager UI was open.
  • You can no longer open other windows when the Town Manager is open.
  • Fixed an animation bug related to assigning a worker to another job. The NPC would remain in their "carrying something" pose even though they were no longer carrying anything.
  • Adjusted the parameters when dynamically adding items to the crafting or building UI with regards to the size of the scroll bar and how much it moves when using a controller.
  • Added text to the controller map UI making it clear that "B button" can be used to Dash Attack or perform your Power Attack if you have a target. Without a target, it opens the Townspeople UI.


I also have a few other things related to UI and controllers that I am working on fixing:
  • The tutorial UIs do not update the keys needed to perform actions if you change them in settings.
  • The tutorial UI and text pop-ups do not show controller information when you are using a controller.
  • Jumping with a controller doesn't actually allow you to jump over things the way spacebar jumping does.

Beta 9.3 - Improved Event Animations

Today's update is the 550th build for HammerHelm since launching!

Beta 9.3 includes some big improvements to the Level Up and Quest Complete animations. I'm really happy with how these turned out.



This build includes::
  • Updated Level Up and Quest Complete animations.
  • Updated XP gain. I removed this from the floating text and added the XP bar to the main UI.
  • Added the health bar, stamina bar, and xp bar to the localization system.
  • Updated the dungeon description text to use the new UI look.
  • Fixed a couple of localization bugs related to Shaydee and Grrrumble.

Beta 9.2 - Combat Balance and More

Beta 9.2 includes some balance tweaks to combat and monster AI along with some other changes and fixes.
  • Reduced the stamina use from rolling to 10. Twenty was too high.
  • Reduced the time it takes to drink a potion.
  • Reduced the number of Red Mushrooms needed to craft a Weak Stamina Potion from 4 to 2.
  • Monsters will now have a chance to immediately attack again if their attack misses because you dodge rolled. Before attacking they will play a roar/anger animation and sound. Orcs, Goblins, Ratman, Skeletons, Mushroommen, and Scarecrows all have a chance to do this. This attack can be blocked or dodged again.
  • Fixed a bug that caused stamina to drop below zero.
  • Added a level up particle effect.
  • Made a change to the Orc Quest regarding the number of huts you can place. Prior to this change it was possible to max out the number of huts you can place before getting the second "Place an Orc Hut" quest. Now when you get that quest you will always be allowed to place one more hut.
  • Changed the Orc Conversation UI to use to the new UI look.
  • Fixed a bug that caused sounds to sometimes still play if both the sound and music slider were set to zero.
  • Updated the "How to Fight" UI to display the correct hotkey for opening your Inventory.

Beta 9.1.4 - Tweaks and Fixes

Beta 9.1.4 includes some more tweaks to existing systems and some fixes.
  • Updated the "Shroomin" quest to use the localization system.
  • Increased the stamina used from rolling from 5 to 20.
  • The X Button on the controller can now be used to close the choose character UI, and create character UI.
  • Fixed the Ram Helm Armor Decorative Display icons.
  • Corrected the localization for Spiderthorn.
  • You can now drop off glowberry and bloodblossom at the storehouse. The system was incorrectly looking for pure glowberry and pure bloodblossom.
  • Fixed a bug in the resource dropoff menu related to holding shift and pressing one of the arrows. These will now always transfer 5 of the resource.
  • Fixed a bug that kept the Ratman Mage from stopping his area of effect spell attack.
  • Fixed a localization bug related to one of the Orc's names.

Thank you again to everyone who has submitted bugs and feedback. I feel like the game is getting to a very nice stable state. I'm also working on a couple of new things that I'm not quite ready to talk about yet, but hope to be able to in the near future. So stay tuned! :)

Beta 9.1.3 - Some Fixes and Changes

Beta 9.1.3 includes the following fixes and changes:
  • You can no longer get stuck jumping on a monster's head.
  • The first quick slot now correctly shows the quantity of potions.
  • The quest pointer will no longer display if the quest doesn't have a specific location.
  • Fixed a bug that caused sound to still play if both the music and sound sliders were set to zero.
  • Fixed a bug that sometimes caused NPC Treasure chests (the ones dropped at the end of some quests) to not open.
