Patch Notes: Holomap System Map

The latest experimental build introduce a key component to gameplay, the System view of the holomap.
Here you can view planets, stations and spaceship belonging to the system you are currently located in.

Two viewing mode can be activated:
  • Map: planets are ordained and station are visible.
  • Orrery: planets are shown at their real position. Stations and spaceship are visible.


Some tweak have been made to the planetary system generation: you will have to migrate any entity built on the space habitat as it will spawn in a different place.

Another big change is the update of the Unity version the game is using.
To allow this the netcode solution had to be migrated too.
It wont change much for now apart from minor performance improvements. But it means that I will now be able to make some progress on the netcode side!

Patch Notes: More Planet Variety!

This build introduces more planets type.
There is now Ice, lava, gas, sand, thunderstorm, terrestrial, moon-like and oceanic planets, each in several forms.
These are simple placeholder for now while waiting for a full fledged procedural planetary tech.

  • Drops not being cleared on quit to title.

Patch Notes: Turrets and space habitats performance improvements

This build improves the turret experience when used with camera, fixes a few turret incorrect collisions issues and improve performance on the space habitat.

Improvements:

Physics performance on the space habitat has been improved (collision and raycast):

Flying a spaceship close to the ground
Firing Beam weapons
Using gimballed weapons
Turrets:

Improper collisions when using decorative children entity.
Turret in raw mode (camera or player seated) will reset player input on enter or on collision.
Camera used with turret now stick more precisely to the turret axis.
Bugfixes:
#3297 Build HUD element is drawn before frosted effect.
#3263 Incorrect Turret collision baking when an axis has decorative children entity attached.
#3170 Photo mode and turret not compatible.
#3307 Can delete brick supposed to be un-deletable under some conditions.
#3301 Big performance hit when firing beam on the Space Habitat.
#3322 Gravity area for spaceship does not extend high over the ground.

Patch Notes: Player Locomotion Improvements and Hotfixes

The latest builds introduced changes to the player locomotion following community feedback.
The jetpack modes selection has been streamlined. Now a simple Jetpack toggle key is used to switch mode, and going to a 0g zone will automatically trigger a switch to the 6 dof mode.
This should make it more clear for newcomer but also faster to switch for more experienced one.

Furthermore there has been a few fixes and improvements to the walking logic and 6 dof logic. Hopefully it should be a lot better! As most of the experienced players have been almost exclusively using the anti-grav mode the others mode (6dof and simple walk) have always been historically lagging behind a bit in term of feel and polish.

There was also a lot of fixes related to the interstellar travel.

Builds released: 20w28a, 20w28b, 20w27a and 20w27b,
Both DEFAULT and EXPERIMENTAL beta branch are now in 20w28b.

New Features and Changes:
  • Locomotion Tab is removed.
  • Jetpack keybind added, F by default.
  • In a gravity field player can switch Jetpack On and Off.
  • In a gravity field Jetpack on will align the player to the gravity field.
  • In a zone without gravity the jetpack will be automatically activated.
  • In a zone without gravity the player can control its roll with the Q and E keys. (6dof mode)
  • New tutorial starting zone to accomodate the change (Zone 1 removed)

  • Tweaked formula for body align to gravity field feature.
