Development Blog #14

Greetings dinosaur hunters!

In this development blog we present our latest work with the game. We are working on several improvements like adding storage areas and reworking shotgun shots. These improvements you can expect to see in the next patch. All images are work in progress images and are subject to change.
Environment improvements
We’ve done changes to the foliage to improve the look of it. A new ground material is being added to the island.
Storage area
Work is ongoing with the storage area. This will be another vendor at special locations where you’ll be able to store extra equipment that wouldn’t fit your inventory. You’ll be able to access the same storage area content in each special location.
Shotgun pellet shot
To differentiate the shotgun from other weapons we are creating a new ammo type for it. We’re changing the ammo from slug (single projectile like rest of the weapons) to buckshot. One buckshot will contain multiple smaller pellets that will slightly spread.

These were some of the features that you will be seeing in the next update.

Thank you for reading and we look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Development Blog #13

Greeting dinosaur hunters!

In this development blog we present our latest work with the game. We are working on several improvements like adding Carnotaurus and a new weapon: double rifle. These improvements you can expect to see in the next patch. All images are work in progress images and are subject to change.
.700 Double Rifle
.700 double rifle will be added to the game. This double barrel weapon will be different from other weapons as you can fire two barrels rapidly with great force but you have to reload every two shots.
Carnotaurus
Work is ongoing with Carnotaurus. It will be another large carnivore that will be both fast and challenging to kill. It has now charge behaviour, so it will try to knock you down instead of only biting.
Landscape changes
We want to improve the playability of several areas of the map. Some really steep hills are being removed enabling more land where dinosaurs and players can roam more freely. New types of trees are being tested and ways to populate more areas with large bushes.
Localization system
We are building a localization system that enables us to translate the game to different languages.

These were some of the features that you will be seeing in the next update. We are also working on fixes for issues reported by our players.

Thank you for reading and we look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Fast Travel Update (0.89)

Greetings dinosaur hunters!

Fast travel is now available. Thank you for all the feedback! A lot of items in this update are a result of this feedback.
Fast travel
Players can now fast travel from one special location to another. Fast travel is enabled to all locations a player has discovered. It has a cooldown so you’re not able to use it all the time. Fast travel can be used from the new vendor machine.
New shop UI
Shop has a new look & feel. Equipment is now categorized clearly. The shop shows which weapons you already own to avoid unwanted duplicate purchases. The shop also shows the amount of each ammunition type you have.
New ammunition type: 50 cal ammo pack
50 cal rifle now requires its own ammunition type. Players can buy 50 cal ammo packs in the shops.
Multiplayer fixes and improvements
• Binoculars now have animations on other players.
 • Dinosaur and player movements are now synchronized more smoothly between clients and the host.
 • Pteranodon is now properly synced for clients.
 • Other player names are now visible properly.
 • Reduced audio spam from joining a match.
 • Dinosaur calls are better synced for clients.
 • When multiple players hit a dinosaur the reward is split between these players when claimed. If you claim a dinosaur that you didn’t hit, the reward will go to the players that hit it and not you.
Dinosaur updates
• Increased spawn rates of common dinosaurs
 • Dinosaurs now have new standing behaviour, so they are not constantly walking.
 • Dinosaurs now have a slight delay in reacting to sound to be more realistic and to prevent dinosaurs from reacting before a bullet actually hits.
 • Brachiosaurus and Iguanodon walk animation now matches the speed.
 • Pteranodon draw distance was improved. Pteranodon is now smaller.
Other improvements
• You get both claim reward and contract reward from dinosaur trophies.
 • When a dinosaur is killed a message is no longer displayed in the top left corner. Instead a message is displayed when a player claims a dinosaur
 • When player dies ammunition is dropped evenly from all weapons
 • Player health is stored: New game starts with the health you had in the last session
 • Player spawns near the place they last disconnected instead of spawning in a random location around the island.
 • Harvest screen has a scroll bar when all hits won’t fit the screen
 • Added minor visual improvements to some locations

Development Blog #12

Greeting dinosaur hunters!

To keep you up to date on our development progress we are continuing our development blog series. From this post you’ll find out what we’ve been developing lately and what you’ll see in the coming updates. All images are work in progress images.
Fast travel
Fast travel mechanism is in development. We are planning to add a new vendor where players will be able to fast travel to different locations on the island they’ve previously discovered.
New shop UI
Shop UI will get clearer with grouping of different items and new main color.
Big undergrowth & bushes
We will include big undergrowth and bushes to the environment. These will block visibility better making it more challenging to spot dinosaurs from afar.
