Neon Abyss Live Hotfix 1 & Experimental Branch Patch

Our first patch is here in the form of a hotfix! Thank you to everyone who has submitted reports and feedback so far! This hotfix is PC specific and is on GoG but will come to PC Gamepass later. We're also working on console fixes for the black screen issue, and Nintendo Switch performance issues which we'll keep everyone updated on through our socials!

We also have a whole heap of changes to the experimental branch, including optional items, pick-up pets pause before they grab, auto-save (so you can leave the game mid run and pick it back up!) and much more further down in this news post!

[h3]Hotfix 1[/h3]


  • Cursor not confined to fullscreen fix.
  • French keyboard compatibility .
  • Remove Vibrant Ball, Peter and Jack (until a full update with reworked pet mechanics - see experimental notes.)
  • Saya animation bug fix.
  • Fix for credits not scrolling.


[h3]Experimental Branch Changes including auto-saves![/h3]

Major changes:

  • Removed the Naughty-egg, all pets are back (except the Vibrant ball), also added a new set of pets
  • You can now ban items/pets/weapons in the gallery (Achievement will not be available after a certain number of bans).
  • Boss badge for every character (different difficulty will result in a different boss badge).
  • Auto-save for every level, you can now continue your runs.
  • Monsters will no longer pop out of thin air without warning, a portal will appear before the monster spawns.
  • A new button is now set for the character's passive ability instead of the interact key.
  • The inventory screen can now show more than three rows of items.


Balance Tweaks:

  • Max Hearts and shield containers now reduced from 10 to 8.
  • Removed the “Hit-recover" time for the player (you stay in place and flash rather than being pushed back.)
  • Pets now no longer shoot on their own, they will only shoot if you shoot (hopefully reducing things like instant crystal turns to violent crystals.)
  • The Grabber, Peter and Dr Blue now pause before going to collect items.
  • Tweaked item drop rates.
  • Tweaked level setup, the musical monster will not appear on early levels.
  • Tweaked damage model, balanced weapon damages, you will no longer three-hit bosses, or dealing no damage to bosses.
  • Tweaked biter monsters' behaviors.
  • Tweaked rewards from rooms.


Bug fixes:

  • Fixed issue where player/monsters may glitch out of the room.
  • Fixed Saya revive bug with melee mode.
  • Fixed roulette machine.

Experimental Branch Update - AZERTY Keyboard Fix

Hey Abyssonauts!

We now have a fix on the experimental branch for the AZERTY issues, which should address rebinding issues and give full support to this keyboard type! More info on how you can try this update early a long with lots more changes and fixes most requested by the community here!

We are working as hard as we can on testing a hotfix for the live PC versions of the game and will let you all know as soon as we are ready to move this and some other major fixes already on the experimental to the live version.

New Experimental Branch to Try Upcoming Neon Abyss Changes Early!

Hey Abyssonauts!

It’s been incredible to see everyone dive into the full version of Neon Abyss and we’re overwhelmed by all the support so far! We would also like to thank everyone who has given us so much useful feedback on social media and here on Steam! We want to reassure everyone that we’re listening and taking on board all your suggestions!

[h3]Try out new changes early with the ‘Experimental Branch’[/h3]

An optional build of the game with some of the changes and fixes we have already begun working on from community feedback is now live! This branch will be updated regularly and will eventually see some of its changes moved to the live version with hotfixes and future updates.

Note: This branch has not been fully tested and may contain unforeseen bugs and issues.

Here is the list of changes and fixes that is currently in this build:

Changes
  • [Removed] Vibrant Ball whilst we redesign it
  • Normal eggs will not hatch into controversial pets (Grabber, Dr. Blue, Jack, Peter)
  • A new kind of egg (naughty egg), it will not fail to hatch, but includes the controversial pets, you need to manually press interact button to pick this egg up.
  • Grenade projectile preview (not available in hard mode.)
  • Upgrade tree tweaked to be less grindy.
  • Extra gem drop for fixed bosses, each time you beat the last boss, you will be awarded extra gems based on your difficulty levels (max 21 extra on abyssa.l)
  • Wisdom progress will not be reset when violence path is triggered, it halves your current wisdom progress.
  • The first level shop will now be on 50% sale, also shop now displays item names.
  • You will now unlock more monsters by defeating managers, (previously, you have to unlock them on the unlock tree.)
  • Enemy bullets will now be displayed in front of player bullets.
  • Increase the duration of the item banner display.
  • Nerfed the movement speed for the second stage of McFamily bosses.
  • Slot machine door will open after self destruct.
  • Supports for more aspect ratios.


Bug Fixes
  • Potential fix for upgrade tree can not interactable bug
  • Fixed stats for certain monster and bosses so they will not be invincible to certain weapons
  • Fixed issue where stacked explosions might propel player/monster/boss out of the room on performance hitch
  • Fixed tracking weapons not able to lock on to Athena and Zeus
  • Fixed Saya's animation being stuck when in the air
  • Fixed being unable to show map and teleport bug with Heart of Fire
  • Fullscreen mode now locks cursor.



Please also bare in mind that not every change will make it to the live version, and we’ll be listening to your thoughts on what does and doesn’t work. Your save should carry over between this version and live but we also cannot guarantee your save data!

[h3] How to access the Experimental Branch [/h3]

**We highly recommend that you use a new save slot on the experimental branch, which is the safest way. Do not use the old save data, which may cause some unknown issues.**

First right click the game in your Steam Library and select Properties.



Then select the ‘Betas’ tab



From here select Experimental from the dropdown.



Your game should now automatically download the experimental branch when you next play Neon Abyss!

We are also working hard to get a hotfix out to the live version that will resolve some of the most reported issues and troublesome pets like the Vibrant Ball!

Neon Abyss is a colourful mix of Isaac and Gungeon, out now on Game Pass

If you've gotten thrills out of action roguelikes like The Binding of Isaac and Enter the Gungeon, you might want to do yourself a favour and check out Neon Abyss. Veewo Games' new bullet-heavy platformer, Neon Abyss is one of those indie games where each run lets you watch weird mechanics bounce off each other as you look and hope for the killer synergy that will carry you through to the end.


You're a member of the Grim Squad, recruited by Hades himself to eliminate the so called New Gods, and your journey starts in a neon-drenched nightclub. Once you start a run, you'll be platforming around procedurally-generated levels, starting on a quest to take out the 'Managers,' boss characters you'll have to complete a series of levels to find.


It's the journey to them that's compelling though, because you're picking up a mix of unique weapons (think of Enter the Gungeon here) and items that alter the way the game's rules work or buff your damage. You'll also periodically find eggs that float in a little conga line behind you, sometimes hatching to reveal a little friend who will tag along and help in some strange way.

[h3]Collect sweet loot and have unlimited synergies[/h3]

Random item drops are key in helping you blast your way though the abyss. Each has its own passive abilities that can stack and combine with other effects to create powerful synergies.



[h3]Tackle mini-games[/h3]

Take a break from the dungeon running and play a slew of unlockable mini-games that could appear in your run like playing a giant piano to unlock some juicy item drops.
