Cardiac Event Recorder - Update #99
New Event
[p]It's been a while since the last main update, but there were still 9 weekly-ish patches to the last version. Version numbers are kinda arbitrary anyways, but all those patches were mainly focused on the Storm Veyeral and Sandrome events. The last few patches took a little longer than intended, but in my defense, I could not stop playing Nightreign! It's almost like they made my own game just for me! It's like a boss rush roguelike thing, and I can't get enough of it! It's one of the few games that I've kept playing well past earning the platinum trophy.[/p][p]Anyways, I've finally added Chionotoh's event! If you haven't been here since the last main update, I also added 13 stage events, and several new gifts too![/p]
Content Added
• [p]1 new Event (Total: 80)[/p]
 • [p]1 new dream to fulfill (Total: 741)[/p]
Updates and tweaks
• [p]None this time[/p]
Bug Fixes
• [p]None this time [/p]
Upcoming Stuff
[p]Only 6 unique monster events left to go! They are for these monsters, but not in any particular order.[/p]
 • [p]Voladrome[/p]
 • [p]Shanx[/p]
 • [p]Dendrohai[/p]
 • [p]Lavalin[/p]
 • [p]Ventra[/p]
 • [p]Blizzard Veyeral[/p]
[p]The next patch will be on July 12th and it will include at least one of the remaining events. Who will get to be the star of update number 100?[/p][p]Thank you for playing! ːradiantheartː ːradiantheartː ːradiantheartː[/p]

v8.22i

This is the final patch to complete v8.22!

If you're wondering why this one specifically took a lot longer than the rest, it's because I was physically unable to stop playing Elden Ring Nightreign for about a week. I mostly play on my PS5 so ignore my few hours on steam, it's way over 100 hours already. I can imagine this is what it feels like every time someone tells me they binge my game for 100 hours in a week. I'm just glad that every idea I would have taken from Nightreign is already analogous to something in my game.

v8.22i - June 15th, 2025
-Added all 4 remaining interactions for both Gift Delivery events
-Added 5 new bonus gifts (Total: 73)
-Added several options for dialog speed and autoplaying scenes
-Changed the default sound and music volumes from 100 to 75 for new players
-Changed the categories for many options in the options menu
-Removed the anti-aliasing option as it really didn't do anything
-Changed the dialogue for rejecting Joule and Sentinel 4X's events, because those still implied that your character actually said no to them. You know that the Zaraden would NEVER do that, so this was basically a plot hole.
-Bug Fix: Returning to the scene category after viewing any scene in the collection would reset the selection back to the first option
-Bug Fix: Restarting a battle in Freeplay would unintentionally also restart the battle music
-Bug Fix: The dream fulfilled popup would disappear temporarily if it appeared during a chapter transition
-Bug Fix: The hud text for "Don't Panic" challenges would leak it's color into certain other objects
-Bug Fix: Having specific exact crit rate values could cause a rounding error that leads to broken Level 0 crits
-Bug Fix: In gift deliveries, Null Unit used the wrong pool of gifts for your options
-Bug Fix: Some Tox Polyps minions would not despawn when leaving the screen, and the battle would soft lock if too many escaped this way

The final Gift Delivery interactions were for Monovai, Philolu, Veyeral Rain, and Molten Veyeral. This just leaves the 7 monsters that don't have their own events yet, but those will be added as their events are completed.

I'll finally get to Chionotoh's event next time! Next update will be on June 28th!

v8.22h

v8.22h - May 24th, 2025
-Added interactions for Frozen Veyeral and Astrayo to both gift delivery events
-Added a new minigame to Voltage Veyeral's event (in the rainy field)
-Text can't be skipped while it's in fast talking mode (This mainly applies to Astrayo dialogue)
-All Zaramech and Glass Flora monsters now bump you away if you touch their main body
-Optimized the drawing of circles for panic attacks, blue safety bubbles, and all monster saw attacks
-A bunch of other tiny optimizations over many battles
-Adjusted the possible answers for some quiz questions that had ambiguously incorrect answers due to the addition of new events
-Adjusted the layering of objects in Shy Momo and Shiny Momo's battles
-Adjusted the way movement speed reducing burdens apply their effect since it would ignore any speed gained by Sugar Mites
-Bug Fix: Saved Quick Gifts in Endless Stress were not loading correctly
-Bug Fix: Roundsaw's broken shell parts spawned a little off center
-Fixed several typos

I finished MOST of the optimizations I had in my list! All that's left for gift deliveries are 4 interactions. One of these specifically needs a new set of bonus gifts that I also have to make. The final patch of v8.22 will be released whenever I finish these! Probably about a week from now as most of these have been.

v8.22g

v8.22g - May 14th, 2025
-Added 3 new interactions to both gift delivery events
-Made A LOT of internal optimizations that shouldn't change anything visually for you, but may have introduced new bugs
-Added some new combinations of backgrounds tinting against certain monster battles for better contrast
-Bug fix: Some of Molten Veyeral's event options did not preview the change to the temperature bar correctly
-In Voltage Veyeral's event the "Take Burden" option will only appear if you are in an area that aligns with Voltage's desires. This avoids very specific and incorrect looking outcomes with the amount of charge gained or lost by taking a burden.
-Bug Fix: In the endless shop, the price of gifts for the 3 main shot types increased faster than intended
-In the endless shop, the price of gifts will now increase even more if you go above 105% love power
-Fixed several typos

This one was a little late, but I spent most of the week finally knocking out a big optimization that I've been putting off for a while. Without getting super technical, I rewrote how the game draws plain color boxes. This was usually done using a built in function of gamemaker, but it can be very inefficient. Examples of this are black squares insides of void walls during battles, and drawing screen sized rectangles to tint the backgrounds. This was also the reason I changed the yellow safety bubbles in the last patch. Those were using gamemaker's default circles instead. But this time, nothing should look any different as long as I didn't mess any of it up!

The new gift interactions are for Dot, Vitrea, and Vibrant Veyeral. This leaves only 3 glyphs and 3 veyerals to give interactions to. There are actually still a few more than that, but those are for the monsters that don't have their own events yet. Those interactions will be added later!

I want to get a few other things done on this schedule, so I'm going to split all the remaining stuff into 2 more patches before returning to the regular schedule. I won't put a date on the next patch, but it will be soon!

v8.22f

v8.22f - May 3rd, 2025
-Added 4 new interactions to both gift delivery events
-Changes to the radiating collection tutorial intended to nudge players towards discovering all the extra card details
-Optimized the way critical bubbles are drawn
-Changed the way yellow safety bubbles are drawn, and optimized them too
-Nix Polyps: Safety bubbles created by breaking a polyp will always appear on the screen even if the polyp was broken off screen
-Gem Battles: Optimized code for drawing the rings and orbitals
-Nova Battle: Optimized a lot of code that was running for gems that were not even on screen
-Bug Fix: Calorie and Pearl's phase 2 rings were always supposed to pulse with the music beat, but they didn't
-Bug Fix: During a battle with a Fallen Heart, the game could crash if the music ever cuts out
-Bug Fix: Music set in the music room would unintentionally revert back to the normal menu music when leaving the music room

The new gift delivery interactions are: Chemory, Hadesoh, Syncron, and Flip Flap

I am knocking out a lot of random things off THE LIST.
Once again, the next patch will be whatever I get done by next weekend.
