Cardiac Event Recorder - Update #106

[h2]New Monsters[/h2][p]Surprise update! It's a Boxing Day miracle! So what's in the box? It's 2 new, completely unplanned, special monsters![/p][p]The first is actually now the easiest battle in the whole game. This monster fills the singular Level 1 slot for special monsters, but there is another purpose for including her. Normally when I want to test the power of certain gifts, I would set Blot to secret dev "sandbag" mode, so that she won't do any attacks or change phases. There are a few players that wanted something like this to be accessible in-game, so I've converted my "sandbag" into this new battle! She will usually be capped at Level 1, but In Freeplay her level can be set all the way up to 999, and she won't attack you at all if you raise her level anywhere above 1. Perfect for all you build crafters out there.[/p][p]The other new battle is finally a 3rd option for the True Panic event. But this time it's one of the new Avoidant battles. I want to put this danger bubble mechanic into as many places as I can, but If I add any more common monsters, I'd potentially have to add all new events, personalities, character art, and rebalance The Towers mode again. Good thing I don't have to worry about ANY of that with this new monster. This is also why I recently changed a few battles that already existed into avoidant battles. I specifically choose ones that didn't have anything particularly special going on in them already.[/p][h2]Content Added[/h2]

-Bug Fix: Danger Bubbles would stay active after a battle with Avoidant Vitrea was over
-Bug Fix: The Wrath bounty set incorrectly showed +1% mote score, but the effect was still the correct amount
-Bug Fix: Blizzard Veyeral's event could crash if you had very few different themes of gifts when the event starts
-Bug Fix: It was possible for Blizzard Veyeral to want the same gift theme twice, making her repeat herself in the dialogue
-Added support for abbreviated monster names on cards for other languages, this also applies to their blessings and burdens
-Fixed some typos

v8.29a

This update introduces a new battle type! Or rather it makes a variant that was exclusive to burden effects into an official battle type that some monsters can just be normally. I've made changes to 5 battles, but there are a few more on the way. I intended to save these for a bigger update, but I had to put this patch out asap to fix a bug with Playstation controllers.

v8.29a - December 21st, 2025
-4 monster battles have been reworked into a new "Avoidant" battle type where monsters create Danger Bubbles that were previously exclusive to a burden effect
-Alter Blot has been renamed to Avoidant Blot, and her battle was changed
-Alter Vitrea has been renamed to Avoidant Vitrea, and her battle was changed
-Sapphire and Vibrant Veyeral have also been changed into avoidant battles
-The Wrathful and Repelling variants of all the above battles have been adjustsed too
-Sapphire's phase during Nova's battle is now also an avoidant phase
-Danger Bubbles now have a different design and color depending on their damage element
-Bug Fix: The Quickplay equip bar could appear to be over the score limit by 1 pixel when it shouldn't due to rounding errors
-A Gamemaker update potentially fixed a bug with the control sticks of certain types of controllers, but AS ALWAYS probably introduced some new problem somewhere else

[h2]New Event[/h2][p]A long time ago, back when v8.0 just released, I had said that both Hadesoh and Shanx would get a trading event that somehow involved the newly introduced Burdens. But shortly after that, I came up with the bonding time events and accidentally added about a whole year of development time to the game! Now I am finally at the end of all these events, and I'm feeling really good about it. Every single monster will get to have a unique event that represents them, and I believe the whole game and its theme benefits so much from it. You really get to know every single monster, and you actually become more powerful as a result.[/p][p]The new event is a gift trade with Blizzard Veyeral. The types of gifts that she wants and the types she rejects are randomized on every visit. You are also able to take a single burden from her to increase her mood as well. This was originally the concept for Shanx's event, but I decided to drop it in favor of the new bonding time events. I even gave several of these events the "take on a burden" choice in honor of the old idea.[/p][p]Blizzard Veyeral herself was only added recently to balance out the fact that the Veyeral Tower had one less battle than all the other towers. I hadn't really thought about what event to give her up until just a few weeks ago, but then I realized, I already had a whole trading event idea with no other monster to fill the role![/p][p]Now only Shanx's event remains! Poor Shanx, but I guess I just like to save the best for last.[/p][h2]Content Added[/h2]
