Devlog : Composer rAYE

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Hey everyone, this is rAYE (stylized so not to be confused with the electro-pop singer).

I’m currently working as the composer and sound designer for Dungeon Munchies. I’ve played this game when I was studying in NYC as a Game Center grad student, so it really means a lot for me to join the squad.

I was trying hard to find a cool WIP screenshot or something but this is the best I could get.

So far, all the music for Chapter Two has been completed (yay).
As for the time before releasing, I’ll be working on checking the tracks’ overall structures, mixing and mastering, focusing on making them even more polished.

The second part of Simmer, Grill, and all the other characters’ journey is on its way, I can’t wait for yall to see what we’ve made.
There’s also gonna be a lot of hiphop, EDM, rock, and other genres of music coming, so get ready!
See you thenʕ •ᴥ•ʔ

Monthly Devlog #10 - Delays

Hello! Rising from the ashes of illness, self-doubt and self-sabotage, it's Scofa.
A few months ago, I was on the verge of a mental/physical breakdown due to my living and work habits. My colleagues saw that and forced me to drop everything and take a break. That's the reason behind the lack of updates recently. Because of that delay, we also won't be able to release the next update,(originally scheduled for this summer) on time.

Our sincere apologies to everyone waiting patiently.

"Where's my Chapter Two, huh? Answer me, Simmer! When do I get to show up?"
"I-its almost done!"

I've completely recovered and returned to work. We're all wrapping up development for Chapter Two. I want players to be able to experience it as soon as possible.

We've reached the final stages of development. All new weapons, food, levels, enemies and bosses are complete. Our programmer is spending most of his time testing and fixing bugs.
We have a new person on the team dedicated to music and SFX. We look forward to sharing the workload and a better audio experience for this chapter.
I've recently been refining the dialogue and drawing character portraits and animations.
Like I said: I-it's almost done!

Here's some shiny new content I can show off:
Phantom Barrage
In this type of sword-based build, once you activate a complicated combo, you will enter a state of zen, cutting apart all the enemies around you.

Upgrade your Food
Those barely-useful "Insight" points can now be used to upgrade food. Dishes that seem useless can be upgraded to grant ridiculous stat boosts.

Thank you for your patience and please don't worry. I will not collapse before completing this game.
The next thing you hear from us will be our release announcement for Chapter 2.

See you then!

Monthly Devlog #9

Hi all, it's Scofa and I'm still alive. Here's some of the progress we made over the last month.
Once again, thank you for your patience. We hope to serve you a meal worthy of your attention.

The content for the second chapter will be just as long as the first. I've recently been working on the story/script and got tied up quite a bit on the dialogue, hence the delay.

Here's a preview of the upcoming story content (some spoilers)!
------------------------------------------------

Before getting into Dungeon Munchies, I only knew how to do lewd drawings and dumb, random comics. Doing an actual script with a real plot was a new challenge for me.
I'm glad players enjoyed the first chapter and I hope they'll also enjoy what's we have in store for you.

In the next chapter, we'll get to look deeper into the history of this underground dungeon...

...as well as the rich culture of the fruit people.

There will be new friends, like this fungal-looking professor who's definitely not friendly with the trees.

You'll find records that have been left behind and begin to piece together the truth.

This is a very mysterious new character that will be an important part of the story. Let's keep the identity a secret for now.

Our programmer has also finished putting together the boss battles for this next chapter! There will be a total of four bosses, including the previously-revealed Fruit Combo Boss, each with their own unique battle style.

We're getting closer to completion so stay tuned for our last few devlogs before the big update!

Weeklong Sale Starts Today

Hello everyone, Dungeon Munchies will be on sale for an entire week starting today.
Please stay at home, play lots of games, wash your hands, try to not touch your eyes/mouth and maintain social distancing. That way we can all protect the only dungeon we have.

It's also been two whole years since we officially set up our studio. Thank you for supporting Dungeon Munchies through these last two years. With your support, Dungeon Munchies will continue to grow and become more complete.

Let's get through these trying times together so that we may meet again in a brighter future.

Monthly Devlog #8

Hello, it's Scofa again. This is a slice of what we've been working on last month.

Food UI for the second chapter

Weapons UI for the second chapter

New dishes and features

The theme for the sword build is to press a bunch of buttons and create really pretty acrobatic pyrotechnics.
More sophisticated sword techniques will be available in the second chapter.

Watermelon Juice
Inspired by a certain game's hero ability. Drinking it will increase attack speed and reload weapon ammo after every dash.

Ice Bird Scythe
This new summoning weapon brings an ice bird spirit to your aid.

Assorted Fish Stew
Gives you the ability to "encourage" your workers with your scythe, increasing their attack speed.

We noticed a lack of shield-enhancing dishes in the first chapter, so we added new ones to make shields more fun and useful.
If a shield successfully blocks an attack within a second after it's raised, surrounding enemies are temporarily stunned. As for what the dish is called and it's ingredients... We'll let you figure that out!

That's all we have for this month's devlog.
Thanks for reading!
