[Lionfire] New Map Spotlight: Star Bastion

Map Structure

The battlefield includes two parts: the trenches outside the city walls and the streets and alleys within, connected by bastion walls and sloped terrain. The outer city area dominates the map more than in the previous siege maps.

There are four significant strategic targets: Point A, one Trebuchet strategic point, and two supply points. All can be occupied by the attacker from the beginning of the battle.

After Point A is seized, there will be three primary paths leading into the inner city: one requires repairing the Point A drawbridge to directly access the city's supplies, another demands breaching the city walls to reach the strategic point atop the triangular bastion, and the last one winds covertly at a corner of the city walls.

Within the city area, a double-layered structure of corridors divides it. The main base flag and defensive safe zone for the defenders are on one side of the corridor, while on the other side, away from the main base flag, lies a contested supply point.

Map Mechanism

The attacker gains access to the trebuchet upon capturing the first strategic point on the map, granting them one use count. Capturing the second strategic point resets the trebuchet's use count back to one.

Aiming phase: the trebuchet has a larger aiming range. It will marks multiple enemy players within its range for a time, with the mark revealed to all.

Launching phase: once the aiming ceases, the trebuchet hurls fiery stones towards the target's center and the marked players' final positions, the stones unguided in the air.

Unit Background
The name ‘Palace Guards’ embodies resilience and determination. They are the elite troops most relied upon by the dynasty in the central plains. With their high defense, the Palace Guards can advance as the vanguard or retreat to cover the rear, making them a versatile force in both offense and defense. On the battlefield, they often play a crucial role in frontline combat and positional defense, earning them the title of the Empire’s Wall.

Unit Skills
  • [Shield Rush]: Order your unit to charge in a designated direction, inflicting high damage on enemies hit along the way. Charging soldiers takes less damage.
  • [Patient Snipers]: The unit immediately takes a defensive stance, reducing charge damage taken from the front. It also gets control immunity for 5 seconds. Attacking enemies while in this state will increase the amount of damage dealt.
Unit Strategy

  • With high defense, the Palace Guards can advance as a vanguard or fall back to cover the rear, making them a versatile unit for both offense and defense. On the battlefield, they often play a key role in front-line conflicts and positional defense.

  • When facing polearm infantry, use Shield Rush to rush the enemy, then follow up with Patient Snipers by crouching to absorb the first wave of damage. Afterward, use the second skill to deal massive damage in an instant.

  • When facing a cavalry charge, the Palace Guards can quickly crouch using Patient Snipers before engaging the enemy, avoiding being directly trampled. This makes them one of the few swordsmen capable of fighting cavalry head-on.

  • After learning shield, the Palace Guards' defensive capabilities are greatly enhanced. In narrow terrains like stairs or alleys, forming a shield can effectively block the frontlines, making them a powerful force that can hold off numerous enemies.
