Rise of the Corrupted Update (0.50.14)

[h2]Gameplay: [/h2]
● Added new Game settings and advanced Custom settings. These can be selected when
creating a new game to modify your experience and how you want to play. Not all
achievements are eligible to be earned in a custom game.

● Added five new achievements related to the specific difficulty settings.

● Improved durability of all weapons and equipment to reduce grinding and frequency
of crafting new equipment.

● Fixed a bug where players could no longer deal damage after breaking a Plasma
Welder from repairing buildings.

● Oxygen efficiency equipment and cold protective gear no longer lose durability from
combat damage.

● Added a minimum check to the world generation to always include at least 2
spawners per creature type to ensure the game can be completed.

● Players can now restart their game using the same settings shown on the death screen, without having to return to the main menu (while in single player with respawn disabled).

● The first obelisk the players find will now be activated via the dialogue instead of
having to activate it separately.

● Fixed a bug where throwing multiple gadgets in quick succession would cause some
of them to not be interactable.

● Creatures that have recently taken damage will now delay their health regeneration.

[h2]User Interface: [/h2]
● Added a new Control Screen to the game, separating different settings into new tabs
to help with readability and navigation.

● Added Keybindings to the Control Screen. Players can now see a list of controls and
rebind them to new keys if desired.

● Updating pre-existing settings on the game creation screens to align with the new
direction.

● Game settings can no longer be changed once the save slot is created, with the
exception of the game name, game description, and a select few other settings.

● Removed the option for players to change between single-player and multiplayer
using the in-game menu screen. This can be changed on the save slot.

● Quinn & C.A.R.L barks no longer trigger when the player is having a conversation
with an NPC. Critical suit barks will still trigger.

● Fixed the issue where the Multiplayer Alpha button was overlapping with the start
game/resume button.

● Black bars on the edge of the screen for ultra-wide monitors now properly block
ingame elements from appearing.

● Picking up Schells with a full inventory no longer warns the player about their
inventory being full.

● Players who lose internet connection in the main menu and try to host a game will be
notified they have been switched to offline mode and should attempt again.

● Updated the latest localisations for all languages, adding improvements and fixing
various grammatical errors and adding new entries for the control screens.

● The refresh button on the Join Game screen now has a cooldown to prevent players
from pressing it in quick succession.

● Navigation with a controller on pages with scroll bars now correctly moves the list
down.

● Fixed a bug where quickly hovering over inventory items and trying to interact with
other items would prevent the action from happening.

● Improved controller navigation on the Live News Ticker.

● Improved controller navigation on the Character Customisation screen.

● Fixed an issue where the Start Over button on the death screen was displaying the
incorrect text.

● Fixed a bug where some players reported their save files missing on opening the
game screen.

[h2]Audio: [/h2]
● Fixed a bug where the radiation ambiance in badlands remained on when leaving the
biome.

● Fixed a bug where the hazard music would continue playing after dying and
respawning.

● Fixed a bug where eerie music was stuck permanently on at the game's start.

● Deconstructing sounds now stop as soon as deconstructing finishes.

● Tweaked maximum ranges of environmental assets that could be heard far away
from their source.

● Fixed various NPC dialogue conversations missing their voiceovers.

● Added new sounds when turning a Shield Generator on/off.

● Adjusted various creature sounds such as the Corapod area of effect and the
Brachylon Shaman channeling audio.

[h2]Visuals: [/h2]
● Various improvements to effects and animations.

● Brachylon Shamans now channel Bloom Crystal energy into the World Forge.

● Updated the Security Baton’s effects to match the updated model.

● Updated the footstep effects in the Octomian base to match the metal ground.

● Improved the durability drain rate of equipment that automatically drains
under specific circumstances. Example: oxygen efficiency equipment and
heat equipment.

● Adjusted the player's view detection range for special story elements such as
the Aurelius and the World Forge. Quinn now says the dialogue when it's
within the player's view range.

● Upgrading plants now saves their progress instead of resetting after resuming a saved game.

● Added new heat sources to the Obelisks and torches inside Barr Hollow.

● Removed the radiation hazard from Barr Hollow and improved nearby creatures and terrain colliders.

● Fixed collision on various environmental assets that players could get stuck on.

● Fixed an issue where Brachylon Warriors guarding the Oasis gates would leave and not return.


[h2]User Interface: [/h2]

● Added the Live News ticker to the main menu, which features scrollable screens that players can click on to get more information outside of the game. Steam store page, Discord invite, feature suggestions and bug reporting, Help Center, etc.

● Fixed various grammatical errors and missing information in the games' user interface.

● Fixed the issue where hosts could not add other steam users via the in-game player browser.

● Fixed the issue where food cooked using the portable stove would lerp to every nearby players' inventory.

● Updated various icons to match newly added models on the map and inventory.

● Improved controller support in various user interface screens.

● Fixed a visual issue where the items you received from scanning story
templates lerped twice - misleading the player in regards to what they received.

● Fixed an issue where harvesting or foraging Tamber Plants, Oxygen Bubbles
and other interactables with the map open, would cause the wrong icon to appear/remain.

● Fixed an issue where clients would lose their maps on re-joining a multiplayer game.


[h2]Audio: [/h2]

● Fixed sounds playing during loading, the wrong music playing while paused
and other audio improvements.


[h2]Visuals: [/h2]

● Crafted deployables now match the player’s chosen custom colors.

● Updated the visuals of the Security Baton and Tamber Cloth.

● Polishing various effects such as the fireballs explosion, Bloom Sprites and Void Rifts.

● Various improvements to environmental assets, collision and visual changes.
Examples: creatures running through assets, visible lines on the ground,
incorrectly displaying areas on the map and more.

● Updated various animations for Brachylon and other creatures. Improved
movement of the Brachylon inside of the Oasis.

● Fixed an issue where when structures were being attacked, their damaged effects
were being played at the centre of the world.

● Games will now restart world generation if it fails to spawn all important story
environmental assets.

● Various optimizations, improvements and fixes to crashes reported by the community.

● Players can no longer share save games and unlock all achievements that the
saved file had unlocked

BEYOND CONTACT EARLY ACCESS ROADMAP

Version 1 of our Early Access Roadmap details our plans for content drops through Early Access and the worldwide launch, including previously planned content, quality of life improvements, bug fixes and polish, as well as features that are currently in consideration or being designed. These content drops will flow into the Worldwide Launch, which also includes our Console launch and cross-play multiplayer.

More importantly, though, the Roadmap contains many features, additions, and improvements brought forth by YOU our relentlessly dedicated community, and we thank you sincerely for already helping us shape the future of Beyond Contact.

Our first content drop, Rise Of The Corrupted is currently in testing with QA and will be coming very soon. As highlighted, this content drop will contain advanced game settings, the highly requested configurable keybindings, and our first piece of new content, Rise of the Corrupted which adds Corrupted and Urchin raids of the player structures. With that comes an exciting look at the future of base defense, which is something that will be expanded on in later content drops.
