Build 3000 — DASH Faster, Smarter, Better!

[h3]Welcome, speedrunners, level creators, and 2D lovers![/h3][p]It has been five years since an update came to life in the pre-Final Edition era. This major update brings lots of new features, optimizations, and fixes:[/p][p]Vertical moving platforms: By popular request from GGHallGamer, platforms can now move vertically as well as horizontally. Place several moving platforms next to each other to create a larger platform and open up new paths in your levels. But beware — heroes and enemies can be crushed if the platform reaches the ceiling![/p][p]Moving spikes: Also requested by GGHallGamer, spike boxes can now move up, down, left, or right. This adds a whole new layer of challenge and excitement for both creating and running levels.[/p][p]New achievements: Hard mode, Expert mode, and EXTREME MODE! Complete levels with very low clear rates to unlock these elite achievements.[/p][p]Optimized Main Menu: The Main Menu has been slightly redesigned to make stats and options easier for newcomers to understand.[/p][p]New tutorial mode: Based on feedback from several players, newcomers can now access the Tutorial list, where each level teaches a specific mechanic. Don’t worry — you can still complete these levels and earn world records.[/p][p]Optimized camera: The camera now moves less, providing a calmer and smoother gameplay experience.[/p][p]100 levels listed per filter category: Browse a larger catalogue of levels — 100 levels per category for now. The plan is to implement pagination so you can access all levels, not just a limited selection. Remember, you can create your own playlists at dashworld.online via the game's "Playlists" menu if you want specific levels listed.[/p][p]Toggle screen shake on/off: Also requested by Devonrv, this option can be found in the Settings menu of the Main Menu.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p] [/p][hr][/hr][h3]Fixes and optimizations:[/h3]
  • [p]Fixed collision issues where bullets would sometimes miss metal crates.[/p]
  • [p]Prevented shooting through platforms from underneath.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed collision errors when possessing a power-up and touching a sploder.[/p]
  • [p]Corrected slopes being drawn incorrectly when spikes were nearby.[/p]
  • [p]Adjusted achievements: Previously, some achievements required 50K plays. They now cap at 10K plays.[/p]
  • [p]Added difficulty display in Run Mode.[/p]
  • [p]Updated default featured playlists: Tutorials, Arcade Mode, Runner Levels, and Hardcore Concerned are now featured.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed crashes when the camera follows the world record ghost while the player dies.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed broken Discord invite in the Main Menu.[/p]
  • [p]Made Underground theme slightly less dark — it is no longer pitch black.[/p]
  • [p]Optimized enemy movement on slopes.[/p]
[hr][/hr][h3]Linux not supported for now:[/h3][p]Unfortunately it was not possible to package the game for Linux at the moment. The goal is to create a Linux build asap. Sorry for the inconvenience it might cause Linux users for now.[/p][p][/p][h3]Remaining issues:[/h3]
  • [p]Minor jitter when moving enemies collide with moving spikes.[/p]
  • [p]Occasional unfair deaths caused by vertical platforms crushing the player.[/p]

New update coming up

[p]DASHers! It has been an absolute thrill to witness the action during the first ten days since release.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Many new runners have joined the game as well as a great deal of new levels fresh from the editors.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]A huge congratulations to the new #1 on the World Records Leaderboard GGHallGamer, who has been active on a daily basis and has strategically made the way to the top of the board. GG![/p][p][/p][p]GGHallGamer also inspired me to implement vertical moving platforms. I've been working steadily on the implementation and have had to deal with misbehaving slappers, spitters and sploders! This has taken a lot of time. To let the community know: I am currently working on the project solo - please be patient A couple more implementations are ready for the big update - I will let them be a surprise for you all! :D[/p][p][/p][p]The runs: Once again the game shows that new players learn to understand the game quickly. The many new world records show that players are enhancing their skills day by day. It shows that the lists are working - players both play the newest levels as well as some classic levels pre 2025.[/p][p]The levels: To see so many and creative new entries on the level hub has been absolutely heart warming. It is more exciting than I could have imagined. To see players make levels which clearly reflect a personal style and vibe. New levels vary from puzzle to extreme precision. This is what we DASH devs dreamed of [/p][p]The Discord server: I have granted some true and classic DASHers a mod role. You can reach them with the handle: @Highly Praised Mod I have cleaned up some of the channels and tried making the server more easy to use. Removing and adding some channels. DASH: Final Edition

[p]Dear DASHers 💙[/p][p]DASH: Danger Action Speed Heroes began as a dream back in 2018: a wild, creative speedrunning platformer built for the community. In 2019 we entered Early Access. Since then many juicy updates, as well as hundreds of levels, streams, and crazy runs have shaped what DASH became.[/p][p]Now it’s time to say:
👉 DASH is leaving Early Access as the Final Edition - this will happen on September 17th 2025
👉 The game will be FREE for everyone[/p][p]What this means:[/p]
  • [p]There might be new updates – but to be safe the official announcement is: DASH is “frozen in time.” This is due to uncertainty regarding whether the development is able to continue.[/p]
  • [p]The game will - for certain - remain as a living snapshot of indie history.[/p]
  • [p]Servers, Discord, and the community will stay alive as long as we can keep them running.[/p]

NEW MULTIPLAYER GAME MODE + perfecting slopes!

Dear DASHers. Today a new build is live. While there is only a few bug fixes and a nice new 'reversed' slope (basically an upside down slope to give new shapes to structures in levels) we are also introducing the first multiplayer mode in the DASHgame. But behold... you must be patient because there is still some way to go until the mode is all the way in the box!



Build 2007; Early Access; Steam:

- The currency and shop is still not available so players will not receive any gifts or medals yet.
- The mode in BUILD 2007 is strictly for testing server and game compatibility! As mentioned there is no reward or visible log screen where you can overview contestants, rewards and all-over score.
- You can't yet see your opponents. YET!! Our next priority (as soon as we can see that the server-to-game system is polished and properly look at by the DASHers and devs) is to include other players in your game screen on the levels. So you will see other players simultaneously on your screen.
- There are so many cool things we can do with this new mode!. Besides from fixing and bug-hunting we would love some intuitive responses from DASHers like "which things we would like to see and experience during this mode".
- Have you tried the Gameboy shader called "4 Colors" yet?





- The slope tiles can now be placed upside down, meaning that they are working on ceilings too. Help perfect the algorithm and report bugs or feedback (in our Discord server's #bug-reports is best but here is cool too [Discord invite: https://discord.gg/vtnHwVY) to the community forum.



We super excited for this next step as we are getting closer to real release! New people are joining the game these days, so it's the perfect timing to update with a new mode!
