Mega Report #37

And another milestone is here! After over two months of very intense work, we’re proud to present a new Mega Patch. The new update, called "The Truth" adds a lot of new things and improvements - read on to see some of the most important content!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xrv1AlrkELI

Remember it's Mega Patch number 6, so we're getting really close to the end of production of Chernobylite and we focus mostly on polishing the experience, making the game more balanced, hunting bugs and fixing every glitch.

We are happy to see you enjoy the game in its current state, but remember there's more to come!
Do you want to read about all the changes? Take a look here:
New missions and new character
You'll be able to discover more of Igor's and Tatiana's story, but you'll also learn some nasty things about gruesome experiments that happened in the Zone.

Little Stalker is our new character - you'll have to discover his story by visiting the Red Forest location and fulfilling Olga's mission chain. And you'll definitely see this little fellow many times in the future!
New enemies!
Recently we've told you about a completely new enemy: Armored Soldier a.k.a. Supershot. So we're happy to tell you it's here already! You can encounter him in different situations, but remember - besides being a regular NAR soldier, he is also heavily armored and if you let him aim properly, you'll get hurt badly. Even a single shot like this can mean Igor's death, as he gets more vulnerable for a few seconds.

Also Duster, which we told you about a few times before, finally found his way into the game! Maybe he's not the scariest nor the biggest one, but can be very dangerous as he uses his skills in a deadly manner. You have to track him quickly, avoid his attacks and kill as soon as possible. Or run!
New prison
Another thing we've told you about recently. You just have to take a look at it by yourselves! It's dark, dangerous and Igor will have a difficult time trying to escape it!

Tell us later in the comments section how you like the feeling of that place. Of course, you'll have to "visit" it before!
UI changes
So we have reworked the User Interface a lot. We've followed our own ideas, but also your suggestions too! Right now it's definitely more user-friendly as you may check on your companions, you can see what items, stations or furniture you can craft, you can see your abilities and perks.

How do you like the new UI? Tell us!
Remember to join our streams!
We have a lot to celebrate, so thanks to the new Mega Patch release we'll be doing much more streams in the following few days.

Here’s the link to the transmissions, it’ll always be the same one: https://steamcommunity.com/broadcast/watch/76561198887982618

So that’s all for this today.
Take care, stalkers!

Mega Patch #6 - “The Truth” Changelog

Hello stalkers!

After two months of very intense work, we’re proud to deliver you a new megapatch and content pack, called “The Truth”. New location, characters, enemies, gameplay functions and tons of improvements are there.

We’re getting closer and closer to finalizing the project content and focus entirely on bugfixing, polishing and balance, but still a lot of elements in the game are temporary (aka placeholders). Please note that especially the dialogue localization for different languages requires a lot of additional work that can not be done before we finish working the game script. We hope that even in the unfinished version of the game you can feel yourself immersed in one of the most unusual places in the world.

Feel free to comment on the Steam forum about your impressions and let us know how you think we should work on further improvements and expansions.

See you in the Zone!

Content Additions
 • New enemy: Duster. This combination of larva and spider hides in its egg, spits acid and moves by turning it into dust. Pretty sick mix, right?
 • New enemy: Armored Soldier. This guy with the shotgun knows no fear and does not use covers. He also won't let you stay in one place for too long.
 • New level. NAR prison. You might have gone to NAR prison before, but it was just a placeholder that had many problems. Now you can rediscover the new prison.
 • New quest: On opposite sides of the barricade (part of Olga's chain)
 • New quest: The truth about NAR's experiments (part of Olga's chain)
 • New Story Character: Little Stalker. You'll see this boy many more times in the future ...
 • We've added the ability to train with companions. Now, acquiring skills is accompanied by appropriate training.

Technology improvements
 • We improved the save system a lot. Now checkpoints are performed MUCH more often, on average more often than every minute. This should make the game a lot easier for anyone who complained about the frequency of checkpoints.
 • We have introduced the option to save a given checkpoint and the ability to return to it at any time. Maybe it's not the manual save you asked for so much... But it's very close to it.
 • From the main menu you have access to the load game. There you will find the option to load the last few days, the current checkpoint and all checkpoints that you have manually saved. Everything with time stamps to make it easier for you to get a handle on it.

Improvements/Additions
 • Monsters now fight soldiers. You can put them on each other and observe the effects.
 • We tweaked enemy AI and combat effects. Shooting should be a lot nicer now.
 • We have added the ability to display weapon stats to inventory.
 • We have added new information gates. Now the player will be informed in a much clearer way about the level up, changing relations with companies or finding new evidence.

Redesign, balance and feedback
 • The environment scanner was overpowered and appeared to be "cheating". You have complained about it many times. Now its cooldown is much longer, and its range is slightly shorter. Want your PDA to work like it used to? Work for it and train with Tarakan.
 • We have completely rebuilt the UI related to Igor. There is a tab with his skills, as well as the status and state of relations with our companions. We are still working on this element, bigger changes are on the way.
 • We have completely rebuilt the experience system. Now you will get the experience more and more often. It will be easier to do more points for training. Good skills, however, now cost more points.

General
 • Fixed collision in Prypiat Port Hospital, thanks to @Narvik from Steam Forums for report.
 • Game will no longer reset after 15 days of gameplay.
 • We have fixed collision on building where Gas Mask was necessary for Mikhail Rescue quest. Now it is fully accessible.

Localization update

We will prepare the fully professional localization before the final release of Chernobylite but for now, during Early Access, we are working with the community to provide you with as many languages as we can even though the texts in-game are constantly changing. Please find below a quick summary of current localization status:
 • German localization - over 90% of interface lines and about 80% of the dialogues are now translated but there are still some big parts missing
 • Russian localization - all interface lines and over 95% of the dialogues in game are now localized (still, many voiceovers are missing)
 • Polish localization - all interface lines and over 95% of the dialogues in game are now localized
 • Ukrainian localization - about 80% interface lines and over 95% of the dialogues in game are now localized
 • Czech localization - over 90% of interface lines and over 95% of the dialogues are now translated but there are still some big parts missing
 • Hungarian localization - over 90% of interface lines and over 95% of the dialogues are now translated but there are still some big parts missing
 • Turkish localization - over 80% of interface lines and about 60% of the dialogues are now translated but there are still some big parts missing
 • Spanish localization - over 90% of interface lines and about 20% of the dialogues are now translated but there are still some big parts missing
 • French localization - about 60% of interface lines and about 20% of the dialogues are now translated but there are still some big parts missing
 • Netherlands localization - about 20% of interface lines and about 20% of the dialogues are now translated but there are still some big parts missing

Weekly Report #36

This week we have something totally new: an enemy we’ve never show you so far! And also completely fresh screenshots from the new level: prison. We told you about upcoming changes with this one, so think of those images as an update!

But because we want also to assure you that we’re not stopping the work on already existing content, we will show you some very pretty screenshots from the map you may already know: Pripyat Port.
Supershot
Completely new enemy which will be extremely dangerous, especially if assisted by other soldiers. That’s a NAR fighter, who is heavily armored, so killing him definitely wouldn’t be an easy job. Even alone, this soldier pose a huge threat to Igor - he need some time to aim properly, but when he shoots… Igor will surely notice the hit.

You can see the animations of Igor getting shot by this new enemy. It doesn’t look like something easy to run from, right?
New prison
So from the recent Weekly Reports you may know that we’re working on the prison level. If Igor gets caught and surrenders to the enemies, he can end up behind the bars. Some of you have seen the prison before and it was totally not finished at all - it was just a placeholder level, which was only there to test the functionality.

Right now, you can see how great it’s going to look. And that’s not over yet! It’ll be even better when we finish it! We just need a bit more time.
Old, but new
Pripyat Port. You’ve probably been there more than once, but did you think it’s going to stay that way until the premiere? No way! We want to make it even better, so here’s a sneak peek at what we’re testing right now:

How do you like it?

Remember to join our streams!

As we already told you, we’re making the livestreams a regular thing. Besides special ones, which we will also make, we will stream the game and answer your questions every Monday, starting around 6:00 to 7:00 PM CEST (we’re announcing every one of them in our social media soon before it starts or just after it has started)

Here’s the link to the transmissions, it’ll always be the same one: https://steamcommunity.com/broadcast/watch/76561198887982618

So that’s all for this today.
Take care, stalkers!

Weekly Report #35

Hello stalkers!

We had some questions about monsters & other enemies' interactions, so we would like to tell you more about how we’re going to deal with that. As we see it, immersion is very important for players to have the best experience, that’s why we’re constantly upgrading mechanics and content that are already in the game. But we’re also working on new ideas.

Recently we’ve added the biggest update since the start of our Early Access (Mega Patches excluded), which could tell you a lot on how the game has changed, is changing and will change in the future. Most of these new things are the ones we’ve planned from the beginning, but now is the time to introduce them.

https://steamcommunity.com/games/1016800/announcements/detail/2740956291116634774
New effects
One of the new things is the hit effect - when Igor gets shot or punched by a monster, the camera shakes. Also, when his health is low you’ll know about that thanks to the “pulsing” effect. This will help you better feel what Zona has prepared for you.

But that’s not the end of what’s new - with the recent update, we’ve reworked the healing system. Do you remember using first aid kits? Before the mentioned changes, you had to enter the inventory (“I” on the keyboard), but now you can add the kits to the quick use menu.

But we also made that bit more challenging, because Igor will have to take a few seconds to patch himself up. That brings the newly added animation of him using the first aid kit, but it also means that healing your character won’t be so easy and you’ll have to pick the right moment to do so very carefully when in difficult situations.
Chernohost massacre!
So, you may already know that the Chernobylite monsters were partially switched with Chernohosts. The new enemy was designed to be dangerous in the open field and we used Chernobylite monsters like placeholders so far. With the recent update, all monsters outside the building were switched to Chernohosts.

Not only you’ll face a completely new enemy, but in an environment that has changed due to that switch. Chernohost is much faster and more dangerous in particular situations. Also for other enemies!

We remember questions about why the monsters don’t attack soldiers. We knew the day that will change will come - and it’s close! It’ll arrive with the incoming Mega Patch!

On the gif below you can see how we’re working on interactions between NAR and Chernohosts. Well, “interactions” may not be the correct word - we are testing now their behaviour, so the soldiers don’t defend themselves on this gif.
