The Farstriders warband are free and out now for Early Access

A new warband approaches!


Hello lost souls!

That's right. The glass has shattered to reveal our newest warband, The Farstriders!

As we've stated before, the initial plan was to release all future warbands as paid DLC. We had also planned to only release future warband DLC once Early Access had completed. But plans change.

The developers here at Steel Sky Productions want to thank our amazing community of players, who have joined us during our early stages of development and have given amazing feedback.
It's because of you that we have been able to evolve and adapt Warhammer Underworlds: Online to the game it currently is, and what it will continue to become.

So to best show our thanks, we're releasing The Farstriders warband FREE TODAY !!!



[h2]The Farstriders[/h2]
  • Take control of the battlefield with Sanson Farstrider, Almeric Eagle-Eye and Elias Swiftblade; as they use their wayfinding skills to hunt down their opponents and seek liberation from the cursed Mirrored City.

  • Each of The Farstriders become Inspired when they complete the round in the enemy's territory.

  • In combination with their ranged attacks and ploys, players can easily maneuver these fighters into strong, tactical positions.

[h3]Bug Fixes & Small Changes[/h3]
+ Not So Immovable: Fixed a bug where Immovable Object would not score if Confused Priorities was used
+ All the Damage: Damage from Ploys now count towards scoring the objective Multiple Fronts
+ Who’s a Good Boy?: Fixed inspiration animations for Riptooth
+ Cowardcast Begone!: Slight changes to Steelheart's Champions AI to be more aggressive
+ Oops: Fixed warband skins using their internal name in the cosmetics list

[h3]Known Issues[/h3]
+ Farstriders Ploy - Steady Volley: There is an issue with activating Steady Volley if a fighter has the Shadestep upgrade attached to them - Steady Volley won't calculate Charge actions that move through other fighters
+ Farstriders Ploy - Retribution: The reaction Retribution occasionally does not activate when it should
+ Farstriders - Customisation: The current skin for the Farstriders is not showing up in-match
+ Steelheart Champions Bots: When the steelheart bots try to charge, it causes them to soft-lock.
+ Bulletin: The New Cards bulletin post is currently not showing the last Universal Card Release
+ Menu Buttons: Rarely, buttons for Casual Play and Bot Match will be disabled. Restarting the game will fix this, though

We aim to fix these Known Issues in a small hotfix in the next few days.

[h3]Glossary Improvements[/h3]
We’re continuing to make improvements to the Glossary. This week we have added two things; hyperlinks to allow related glossary entries to link to each other, and more images and animations to help illustrate the core game concepts more clearly.


[h3]Tutorial Prompts for new players[/h3]
When first time players start up the game they will immediately be prompted to play through our tutorials. Experienced players (or those who like to take a more “immersive” approach to learning the game) can still choose to skip these tutorials.

[h3]Phase Labels[/h3]
To help new players (and assist experienced ones) we’ve added additional labels that let you know exactly what phase of the game you are currently in.

[h3]Rollover Fighter Name Plates[/h3]
We’ve hidden the nameplates above each fighter to help declutter the battlefield and make it easier to see and select your fighters. Wound counts and team markers are still visible, and if you do forget a fighters name simply roll your cursor over a fighter and their name will popup.

[h3]Bug Fixes[/h3]
Sepulchral Guard Ploy - “Swift Evasion”: Fixed an issue where players would be allowed to select fighters that could not be pushed further from enemies.
Sepulchral Guard Objective - “March of the Dead”: Fixed an issue where Universal Ploy - “Hidden Paths” would not count towards scoring this objective. “Hidden Paths” can now be used to help score “March of the Dead”.
Universal Objective - “Crushing Force”: Now checks damage AFTER all modifiers are applied (Lethal Strike, Gorkamorka’s Blessing, etc.) to determine if this objective can be scored.
Universal Ploy - “Lethal Strike”: Fixed an issue where this card was not providing double damage when interrupted mid attack (by cards such as Ironskull’s - “Last Lunge” or Universal - “Fuelled by Fury”).
Universal Ploy - “Lethal Strike”: Also fixed an issue where this card was doubling damage AFTER modifiers, when it should only double the base damage characteristic of the attack next used.
Universal Ploy - “Teamwork”: Now updates the calculated Support totals after the push is complete (and before the attack starts).
Ironskull’s Boyz Upgrade - “Dead Ard’”: Fixed an issue where this upgrade would sometimes only work the first time the equipped fighter was attacked, but then never again.
Ironskull’s Boyz Objective - “Good Scrap”: Fixed issue where this Objective was being scored based on the number of fighters taken out during the ENTIRE game, instead of just the last Action Phase. This card now functions correctly.
Sepulchral Guard Objective “More Able Bodies”: Fixed issue where this Objective was ALSO being scored based on the number of fighters taken out during the ENTIRE game, instead of just the last Action Phase. This card now functions correctly.
Universal Objective - “Honest Opponent”: Now tracks the amount of ploys played during a round while still in the Objective Deck (this prevents it from scoring incorrectly if a player draws it mid round after playing a number of ploys).
Magore’s Fiends Upgrade - “No Respite”: Was incorrectly allowing players to Charge when the equipped fighter was taken out. It also correctly checks which enemy fighters are in range for an attack.
Overly Board: Fixed a visual issue where “Choose Board” would briefly pop up while player is connecting/launching a game.
Concessions of a Katophrane (Trapped in the Mirror City!): Fixed a number of issues around players conceding matches then their opponents being forced to continue playing or also concede themselves.

We’ve added some visual effects to better communicate the following cards:

[h3]“Waiting for Game” Tips[/h3]
We’ve added some game tips and information for you while you’re waiting to connect to a Casual, Ranked or Friend match. We’ll be adding more tips to this system in the coming weeks, so if you have suggestions for tips or strategies that could help new players let us know!

[h3]Phase Labels[/h3]
To help new players (and assist experienced ones) we’ve added additional labels that let you know exactly what phase of the game you are currently in.

[h3]Event Log Tooltips[/h3]
The Event Log now has inline words for individual fighters and cards that can be hovered over to show a Tooltip with more information.

[h3]Bug Fixes[/h3]
- Universal Objective - “Complete Victory”: now checks for the number of fighters taken out at the End Phase. Previously these cards would track each TO during the game which didn’t account for resurrected fighters or fighters that narrowly avoid getting stomped (looking at you Gurzag equipped with “Unkillable”!).

- Universal Objective - “Chosen Champion”: accidently required 3 or more fighters to be alive before it could be scored. This has been fixed.

- Universal Objective - “Ploymaster”: now tracks the number of ploys played during a round while still in the Objective Deck (allowing it to score correctly if drawn mid-round).
- Universal Objective - “Massive Assault”: now tracks the amount of damage done during a round while still in the Objective Deck (allowing it to score correctly if drawn mid-round).

- Magore’s Fiends - “All the better to Slay Them”: should score correctly now that it checks if it's scorable after knockback and push events.

- Magore Fiends Objective - “No Escape” & Ironskull’s Boyz Objective “Call of the Waaaagh!”: both of these objectives will now track charges during a round while in the Objective Deck (allowing it to score correctly if drawn mid-round).

- Sepulchral Guard Objective - “March of the Dead”: now tracks the number of fighters that have moved during a round while still in the Objective Deck (allowing it to score correctly if drawn mid-round).

- Are you not Inspired?: Fixed an issue where inspired fighters were not registering as inspired causing issues for Universal Ploy - Cruel Taunt.

- Match Made in Shadespire 2 (The Matchening): More fixes for bugs relating to the issue where cancelling out of a matchmaking queue might affect your ability to enter online matches. It turns out this was not just one bug but many that we needed to squash, so if you have any symptoms relating to this matchmaking issue, please post an in-game bug report, quit the match, and restart the application to clear the data.
Symptoms include:
- The Board Setup rolloff happening twice or more
- Players being stuck on the Board Setup screen after choosing a board
- Players being stuck waiting for opponents to load into the 3D Match environment.
