Cavity Busters Update #10: Polishing a dead old tooth

Hiya everyone! This update leans more on the polish side of things. There's some upgrades as well!

What's New:
  • 3 new upgrades
  • holding the shotgum button as Baby Tooth will increase fire rate for a goop cost
  • teleport map now shows your current location
  • default button added to accessibility menu
  • mini boss have a health bar



Fixes and tweaks:
  • fixed player getting healed while dying and canceling death screen
  • fixed a bug that caused items in a room to disappear when leaving room
  • bowel movement won't happen in boss rooms, treasure rooms or disease curing rooms. They can still happen in dig rooms however.
  • bowel movement antibody spawn rate were nerfed
  • falling bullet mod was changed to chomp attacks. essentially the same thing just visually different
  • tiny delay to when you can recall your charged tooth. tiny tiny.
  • flak ammo was nerfed
  • monumeats increase difficulty between 1 and 2 points
  • fixed taking a continue not taking effect while in a modded room
  • fixed some bugs with the teleport map
  • wall dashing with a controller is a bit different


Wall dashing with a controller is a bit different
Wall dashing with a controller used to be all or nothing. With mouse and kb you could pick where your wall dash ended within the wall dash range. That's lost while using a controller. But now you can be more precise with wall dashing while using a controller. It's not perfect but it's a start in the right direction to smoothing out controller use. Also note it works best when the controller is not in auto aim mode.

The new combo system:
Combos now decay at a much slower rate. A portion of your combo will be taken away when hurt.
Combo meter now increases when the meter is filled rather then for just killing enemies.
More work still needs to be on this. But it feels much better already. :)

UPDATE 9 Hot fix 2

This adjusts the stats for Baby Tooth. He'll start with higher damage, higher range, higher fire rate and a lower heal requirement. Also upgrades that would normally effect your regular tooth now effect your shots gum bullets but only when playing as Baby.

Cavity Busters Update #9: New Twin Stick Gummy

Hey all! Welcome to another weekly update! This one is pretty sweet and I'm very excited to see what you all think of it.

The New Gummy
This Gummy is for everyone who enjoyed most of the mechanics of Cavity Busters but found combat to be a bit tedious. This Gummy is a more traditional twin stick shooter type character. You aim where you want to shoot, hold the shoot button, and voila! Shoot bullets and cause damage! This character is called Baby Tooth and is in no way a dig at the people this was intended for. The name fit thematically as you shoot small low damage baby teeth. Don't be fooled though. This character is still a challenge as all diseases that effect tooth shots will still be present and sometimes more devastating.

What's new:
  • new playable character
  • new character select screen
  • 2 new upgrades
  • monumeats(?)
  • 3 new rooms to discovery


Bugs and tweaks:
fixed some controller bugs
combo meter will not decrease while bosses are dying or changing phases now

Cavity Busters Update #8

Hey all! This update is a bit smaller compared to last weeks but we have two new enemies to crush you this time!

What's New:
  • 2 new enemies
  • 4 new minor stat up items. These can drop from treasure meat lumps.
  • 26 new rooms


Bug fixes and tweaks:
  • Incisor gummy now has different tooth projectile art
  • mini gums are slightly better
  • aim line now shows accuracy
  • reload tooth animation is now less intrusive
  • cleaned up the death screen a bit

Cavity Busters Update 7: New playable character

Howdy all! Another big update for this week. First and foremost we have a new playable Gummy!



This Gummy has lower health but starts with two teeth and is a bit faster. Instead of a boomerang charge shot, shooting a charged shot shoots two slow teeth. When the shoot button is pressed these teeth will home in on the nearest enemy. However if you were to collect the charged teeth before they hit an enemy or a wall, they'll fire off a powerful attack! The Gummy is unlocked the first time you beat the game. If you've beaten the game it'll unlock once start of the new update :) You'll be able to select it through the hub room computer.

What's new:
  • A new playable character
  • 2 new upgrades


Fixes and tweaks:
  • saving requires you to be in range of Gob
  • can now only gain one boss tooth at the start of the round
  • fixed a bug where Factory Lobe II boss would run in place
  • fixed a bug where upon loading a saved game player would have two bullet types
  • fixed a bug in tutorial that duplicates players
  • fixed a bug in tutorial that cause boomerang shot to fail
  • fixed a bug that would disable shooting when picking up an upgrade that gave extra teeth
  • now only pressing the jump button spends your jump instead of touching stunned enemies
  • fixed a bug where enemies would regain health upon being frozen
  • hyperthyroidism now takes away a percentage of enemy health
  • poison ammo now deals a small amount of base damage
  • run total should be more accurate now
  • can no longer save while digging
  • fixed potential memory leak
  • room modifiers will now be displayed in the starting room
  • tooth will now properly hit enemies instead of passing through them at high speeds
