Invoking Time!

Greetings Wizards,

With only 2 days left until launch, let's take a look at the entirely new spells in Dark Times.

[h2]Magma Burst[/h2]



Initially, we wanted to make this spell a stream of molten lava... isn't it better to blow stuff up though?
Your go-to "please disperse" spell, Magma Burst leaves a trail of destruction that sets enemies on fire, and explodes on impact (or releasing the Grip buttons).
Cast the Fireball and press the Grip buttons while holding it, then drop the lava rock on the ground.

[h2]Arcane Beam[/h2]



Vegeta, what does the scouter say about his power level?
The Arcane Beam is a concentrated, devastating magic force. Purifying the realm will be much easier once you get the hang of this spell.
Cast the Arcane Shield and press the Grip buttons while holding it, then spread out your hands and unleash the power.

[h2]Storm Nova[/h2]



It's easy to get overwhelmed while rescuing the world. If you ever feel like the enemies are too annoying or there's too many of them to catch a breath, just electrocute EVERYTHING around you. Everyone needs a break, even Wizards.
Cast Lightning, press the Grip buttons while your hands are filled with raw power, then spread your hands to the sides.

[h2]Ice Sabers[/h2]



The freezing mechanic is one of the coolest (pun intended) features of Dark Times, but then you can also go into overdrive with Ice Sabers - your instant freezing solution. Smash them in the faces of your enemies in melee, or alternatively throw them - Ice Sabers know the way.
Cast the Frostbow, put your hands together, press both Grip buttons, and release to the sides - the ice heeds your command.

[h2]Radiant Shards[/h2]



Ever feel like just punching fantasy creatures? Good news - with Radiant Shards, you can either punch or throw. The magical shards work best in close range, utilize the spread to the best of your ability!
Put your hand over your shoulder, press the Trigger, and straighten it to the other side to conjure Radiant Shards. Works with either or both hands!

[h2]Radiant Missiles[/h2]



The Radiant Missiles are the invoked form of Radiant Shards. When conjured, they suspend in the air until touched by your hand - then, they launch in the sky and seek the nearest target. A very powerful spell for... well, dark times.
Cast the Radiant Shards, put your hands together and press the Grip buttons, then spread them to the sides to conjure Radiant Missiles.

[h2]Arcane Pulse[/h2]



The last addition to the spell arsenal, the Arcane Pulse means raw, directed kinetic power. Make the enemies, crates, barrels and torches back off with a swift and precise motion in a Jedi-like manner.
To cast Arcane Pulse, put your hand forward, press the Grip button, pull your hand toward your chest, then push forward and release the Grip. Arcane Pulse can be cast in either or both hands (stronger effect with both!)

Introduction to the Reworked Classic Spells

Greetings Wizards,

Dark Times are creeping ever closer! We thought it’d be better for the Realm if you knew what you were doing with the power we’re going to put in your hands. In this community update we’re going to take a look at the reworked Classic Spells.

[h2]Fireball[/h2]



The gesture system is back, and this time one-handed spells can be cast in either hand.
Definitely your go-to “PANIC” spell, the Fireball will act like a living flame seeking target that deals damage and sets the opponent aflame on impact.



You might notice that the first thing that appears in your hand when casting is just an ember. Before this change, during internal playtesting, we noticed one of our level designers perfected the motions of casting and throwing Fireballs, essentially turning himself into a weird fusion of machine gun and flamethrower. After obliterating the entire stage in mere minutes, leaving only scorched earth in his wake, he just said “good spell”. Can’t blame him, it is a good spell.
However, with the goal of encouraging the player to use different spells to control combat, we decided to prevent Fireball spam. With the slight ember ignition delay, casting this spell feels much more natural now.



[h2]Frostbow[/h2]



We’re very glad with how the Frostbow turned out in Dark Times. This spell is cast with both hands, and accompanied by controller vibration when drawing an Ice Arrow. Instead of being just another way to deal damage, the spell’s utility is more focused on crowd control now. Ice Arrows are quick, precise, and efficient, making them an ideal tool for handling chaotic encounters.
Shooting an enemy once will make them Chilled and slower, while shooting them twice will make them Frozen and immobile. Finding out the best spell combos to exploit these states will be your key to victory!



[h2]Arcane Shield[/h2]



Your trusty Arcane Shield will be your most valued possession in the spell arsenal, and benefits greatly from being cast in either hand, depending on the situation. Your Wizard body is frail, but your magic powers are immense. Protect yourself the best way you can. The journey through the plagued land of Meliora will be perilous, and filled with hostile creatures and traps.
Thankfully, the shield can be used as a weapon as well. Bash your enemies away, or throw it like Captain America for magical damage in a pinch.



[h2]Lightning[/h2]



Cast with both hands, Lightning was one of the fan-favorites in The Wizards, and we don’t think it’ll change much in Dark Times. The unlimited power is more unlimited than ever, now paralyzing enemies and featuring a wider area of effect that focuses on single targets. For enhanced performance, Chill an enemy with Ice Magic, melt the frost with Fire Magic, and then hit them with Lightning. Wet opponents stand no chance against electric current.
Unfortunately, flat .gifs don’t do it justice!
