Friday Progress Report 267

I have added Sweet potato and Spinach for a total of 31 crops (33 if you count the ornamental flowers and clovers), and I will now switch my focus to planning the return of the Faerie Village, this is a feature we had planned for later, but since my brother will be the one implementing the AI I won’t have much to do until he is done, so I either make more crops or do something else, since we have enough crops for now, so I thought adding a new feature would be better.

The Faerie Village would probably add a lot of gameplay since it was a self-contained minigame, and now it can be integrated with other features like farming, getting the faeries to help with watering and harvests

While I plan the return of the faeries my brother is adding a new feature for helping new players, a help screen that changes based on context, it will give tips and instructions based on which UI is open and the game state.

Also we now have more item drop feedback, dropped items go towards the player (just visually, to make sure it doesn’t bug out the items still enter the player inventory instantly)

V0.42.1.6

Changes:
Implemented quality modifiers for the placeholder gathering spots.
Made the player icon on the map persistently blink so it does not get lost amidst the other icons.
Watering can now has different sounds when irrigating crops or missing the tile.

Bugfixes:
Fixed the disappearance of context hotkey disappearance that went unnoticed.
Fixed the bug report tool closing if the cooking window is open.

Friday Progress Report 266

The watering can now has sound feedback when it is watering and when it fully waters the crop it plays a splash sound with a few droplet particles.

We changed how fruit crops give seeds, instead of getting the seeds when consuming or cooking the fruit, which was realistic, but very unpractical, now you get the seeds instantly on harvesting the fruit, this will make seed selection for fruit crops much easier.

We also buffed the yield of several grain crops and made them give more stacks per harvest allowing for more seed trait mutation, also added icons for carrot, turnip and beet greens, now all harvestable have icons.

We have added 2 new crops, Pumpkin and Cantaloupe.

Next week I will add Spinach and Yam, we also have more QoL changes planned for next week, keep an eye out for patchnotes.

V0.42.1.5

Features:
Added Cantaloupe plant

Changes:
Added audio and particle feedback to watering crops. It will play an audio and an particle animation when fully watered.
Made so planting seeds don't spend stamina when it fails and does not lock onto tiles it can't plant on.

Bugfixes:
Fixed a conflict in the translation files that caused the recipe effect skill level unlocks to no longer show the unlock level.
Fixed a couple of memory leaks.
Fixed an issue with grass crops not appearing/disappearing as they should.
Fixed crop effects related to plant stage not affecting the very last stage.
