Hi again,
Today, we're setting the previously announced open beta to be live on the default Steam branch. We thank all those who participated for their helpful feedback and insight. Please continue to report any issues you may experience, and we'll do what we're able to address them.
Changelog:

ADDITIONS:
• Added new WebM video support library.
  • Added texture streaming to try reduce VRAM usage (can be disabled using -no_texture_stream).
  • Added DXSupport config, setting DX levels manually is no longer required.
  • Added back the "quti" console command.
  • Added new sub menu to options G String Options. You can open the Sentry Settings from here.

  • Added Sentry permission dialog that opens on first time boot.
  • Added HIM
CHANGES:
• Reduced total game size by around 2 GB (via LZMA BSP/map compression).
  • Bound pyrokinesis to gamepad "Select" button.
  • Updated end credits
  • Increased an internal memory usage limit, which may help with crashes experienced prior.
    > NOTE: Memory issues are still present. We cannot fix it because G String is 32 bit!
    > This will be fixed in the Ultimate Edition update with a 64 bit port.
  • Updated murdock_air8 to resolve missing assets.
  • Updated dragon_girl to resolve missing assets.
  • Updated money_is_dead4_2 to resolve missing assets.
  • Updated perp_org3 to resolve missing assets.
    > NOTE: This change will break saves in the chapter Perpetual Orgasm!
  • Updated out of memory error message.
FIXES:
• Finally fixed the "White Bug", in which props and textures would turn blindingly white.
  • Fixed many crashes related to video playback.
  • Fixed broken audio issues.
  • Fixed issues where the game would not launch on Linux.
  • Fixed file mounting issues preventing certain assets from loading at random.
  • Fixed issue with VGUI not rendering properly.
  • Fixed VGUI depth so the main menu now properly appears behind VGUI menus.
  • Fixed controller config not executing when enabling it in the options menu.
  • Fixed controller weapon selection.
  • Fixed a few models and textures.
  • Fixed a crash with the error material being destroyed too early on shutdown.
  • Fixed a crash where AI squads tried to gather their teammates when they do not exist.
  • Fixed rare crash where the player tries to check if they are in a ship but it doesn't exist.
  • Intro video and game should now run on Linux via proton.
  • Restored config files for gamepad support.
  • Removed faulty Cinema library (it was in-fact, not cinema).

That's a lot to read through we're aware, so the highlights here are:
  • Vastly improved game performance and stability
  • Controller support on everything but the menu
  • Functionality on Linux via Proton
  • Fixed the white prop bug

Thank you for your continued support, and enjoy the update.

G String - Critical Issue Patch - Now in Open Beta!

Hi everyone,

Today we're launching the open beta for a fairly substantial game patch. This patch is focused on the current version of the game, with the intent of making it a far more stable experience. Virtually every concern from launch has been addressed, but we've opened it up to the public so that we may better collect your feedback and hunt down any hard to find bugs.

Please note this is NOT Ultimate Edition. We're hard at work!

We're still hard at work on Ultimate Edition, but it'll still take a little more time. In the meantime, we hope that you'll try the open beta for the patch. We intend to share much more on Ultimate Edition when we can, but we'll leave you with this preview for now.

REMAINING KNOWN BUGS/ISSUES

  • CRASH ON LOAD:
SOLUTION: Add "+novid" to the game's launch parameters on Steam.

  • MISSING TEXTURES/WIREFRAME BUG. SOLUTION: Add "+mat_dxlevel 95" to the game's launch parameters on Steam.

  • THE WHITE BUG: All props turn white.
SOLUTION: Restart the game. We have reduced the likelihood of this error occurring but it's a very random bug so we can't guarantee that you won't run into it.

  • WATER/SKY FLICKER: This can happen when there is water at the beginning of a level.
SOLUTION: Resolves by itself after a few seconds.

  • SOME VGUI ELEMENTS WON'T RENDER CORRECTLY. SOLUTION: Reopen the misbehaving tabs/restart the game. This graphical error is a side effect of the game being ported over from older versions of the Source Engine. Working on it.

NOTES:

  • Sometimes level transitions occur after the screen fades to white so the loading icon might be hard to see. Don't worry, the next map is loading, it's not a freeze or crash.

  • Console will not most likely not render properly after this update. Working on it.

  • In some cases when the player is close to a brush and in interactive animations view plane clipping issues can occur. Working on it.

Enjoy and have fun.

The July 2021 Update (codenamed the B Cup) is out.

REMAINING KNOWN BUGS/ISSUES

THE WHITE BUG: All props turn white.
SOLUTION: Restart the game. We have reduced the likelihood of this error occurring but it's such a random bug that we can't guarantee yet that you won't run into it.

WATER/SKY FLICKER: This can happen when there is a large body of water at the beginning of a level.
SOLUTION: It goes away on it's own after a few seconds.

SOME VGUI ELEMENTS WON'T RENDER CORRECTLY.
SOLUTION. Reopen the misbehaving tabs/restart the game. This graphical error is a side effect of the game being ported over from older versions of the Source Engine. As soon as a fix is found a patch will be released right away.

Sometimes level transitions occur after the screen fades to white. The loading icon might be hard to see in such instances. Don't worry, the next map is loading, it's not a freeze or crash.
