Please make a backup of your looks/scenes files in preparation of Mirage update

Hello dear Steam users,

Soon I will release Mirage 0.4-beta-1. During this automatic update Steam will automatically erase all content inside Mirage directory including your scenes and looks files. On my PC they are located at:
F:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\MirageByMorganaVR\Mirage_Data\StreamingAssets\looks
F:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\MirageByMorganaVR\Mirage_Data\StreamingAssets\poses
F:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\MirageByMorganaVR\Mirage_Data\StreamingAssets\scenes

New Mirage version will save/load user files from C:\Users\YOUR_NAME\Documents\My Games\Mirage folder so all future game updates won't affect your save files anymore but for this update this manual copy/pasting of files will be required.

Best, M

Release date of the Importer of 3D characters, hairs, clothing

Hi dear Steam users,

I wanted to give you an update on the Importer - it is almost ready and I plan to release it somewhere in July 2022. It will be called Mirage 0.4-beta-1 and will feature an Importer (Unity plugin) that can import Genesis 3 Female characters, clothing, hairs from official Daz store. Importing of custom made characters (by copy-pasting morphs files and textures) will be released later.

After the Importer beta-1 is released I will either expand Importer's functionality or will integrate cloth physics module. Probably I will make a public poll to understand what users want more.

Cheers, M

Happy New Year! + 2021 Retrospective.

Hi dear Steam users,

I wish you all wonderful holidays! This year I was working on Mirage almost every day - mainly on Importer and C++ physics engine.

Importer's workflow has been improved - it requires less manual adjustments to convert Daz assets (G3F characters, clothes, hair styles) to Mirage binary format but after updating to Unity 2021.2.x an Importer sometimes crashes and in rare cases some textures are missing after the Importing is done.

Cloth physics module - I have added logs and dumps recently to help me debug complex bug reports that will be reported by users. Code updates about cloth behavior in dynamics and small optimizations need to be implemented.

In 2022 a release of these two modules (Importer and Cloth physics) have the highest priority for me. I will think if they can be released on old UI from Mirage 035 or the usage of new, completely redesigned and improved (but not finished) UI from Mirage 04 is required.

Mirage 0.4 November Progress Report + Video

Video: https://vimeo.com/654447606
---

Hi dear Steam users,

In November I, again, divided time between these 3 tasks:

1) Importer of Genesis 3 content

2) New UI for Mirage 0.4 (VR version shown in the video)

3) C++ physics engine (cloth module)

On Importer I worked on automatic generation of missing textures in Daz characters needed for the best rendering quality in Unity's HDRP. Also I improved tools for materials import - now it takes less time to setup a character for the Importer.

UI was adopted partially to VR. It's still rough around the edges and UX need to be improved but basic interactions work already (moving windows around and interacting with their content)

On physics I almost finished work on cloth module, need to add logs and dumps for extended errors reporting from users, there will be bugs in initial release and I need those to reproduce bugs on my development machine.

Thank you very much for your patience and for trusting in me.

Mirage 0.4 October Progress Report + Video

Video: https://vimeo.com/641178550
---

Hi dear Steam users,

In October I divided time between these three tasks:

  1. Importer of Genesis 3 content
  2. New UI for Mirage 0.4
  3. C++ physics engine (cloth module)

In the video I demonstrate new UI prototype for Mirage 0.4

I know that most of you are waiting for the Importer to be released but please wait until I simplify it for the end users to operate. At the moment regular users will need to spend around 4-6 hours to import a character. It's an unacceptably long time. Ideally users will press a single button and importing is done, more realistically some fiddling will still be required but it will be simple and could be finished in 15-30 mins.

I make Importer to be useful for experienced users/3D artists as well by supporting advanced customization options like total control over Unity materials and choice of shaders.

Thanks for your support and understanding.
