Players’ Maps: January

[p]Pupultas!
[p]Let’s explore another custom map! This time we take a look at Chivalry — a scenario created by Panther.
[p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][p]Have you ever imagined what would it feel like to be surrounded by all the bosses of Diplomacy is Not an Option? Well, no need to imagine anymore — Chivalry can show you. Once you start, you’ll find yourself encircled by a number of special enemies ranging from Ozzie to king Ferdinand III. And even more — some attacking waves contain tough monsters like Heffalumps and Wargs. As well as an occasional Just a Harmless Little Bunny running around!
[p][p]Or maybe you wonder how it is to fight your own troops? You’ll find it out too! The Undead copies are ready to attack the Town Hall and just wait for their turn to march. Spoiler: it gets absolutely brutal.
[p]You’ll get plenty of time to prepare, however. With the first attacking wave arriving on day 20, you need to utilise massive forests surrounding your castle, scout for the closest stone and iron spots and take over them. Focus on expansion and population first, then prepare your army to face the challenge. If you survive 5 attacking waves, you win. Don’t forget that you need to clear the entire map by day 55, and enemies have defences of their own. Can you break through with few losses?
[p]Tell us how your attempt to conquer the map goes!
[p]We’ve also made Map Publishing Guidelines — check it out, we are listing the requirements for participating in our monthly map highlights there. Hope it helps!

Roadmap for 2026

[p]Pupultas!
[p]Development of Diplomacy is Not an Option continues! Earlier this year we released an update that introduced the playable Undead to Sandbox Mode. However, that was merely a tease of what lies ahead. Less foreplay — straight to the good stuff. So, what’s up for 2026?
[p]If the first year of post-release support went under the signs of the Undead and the Map Editor, the second year will be a passionate declaration of our love for the game.

The Protected Update
[p]And what matters most when it comes to love? Correct — protection. And control. That is why in March we will introduce The Protected Update — a set of maps inspired by classic tower defence gameplay, designed to put your fortifications to the ultimate test. Attacking waves will grow stronger and more frequent, rising like desire in anticipation. Fortunately, Scott the Bloody will once again return to lead the Rebel troops — now fully under your command. Together with them, you will not just fill the cracks in your walls, but build a truly unbreakable defence, perfected to the point of absolute impenetrability. Armed means protected. We will also add custom maps we have featured previously into the game, allowing players to easily discover interesting scenarios, while giving map creators yet another reason to craft something special.

The Loving Update
[p]Spring is a time for passion. While we prepare something bigger, March will bring something again — a smaller, more restrained, yet no less intimate surprise: new maps as part of The Loving Update. For a careful and long emotional siege.

The Deep Update
[p]April marks the start of delivering on your most important requests — the ones we have heard loud and clear. We will dive into the very core of gameplay mechanics to add even more depth. Your feedback has made one thing clear: the Lord’s research tree currently lacks expressiveness. That is why The Deep Update will revolve around a reworked progression system — reimagined and meticulously refined so that every research path can be completed to the very end with a sense of satisfaction. After all, depth is defined not by size, but by the right tool — and the skill to use it. Sarranga will not be left behind either and will receive its own thick branch of technologies. Additionally, your scouts will undergo special training, allowing them to report attacking wave compositions in far greater detail.

The Bigger, Longer Update
[p]Staying true to the course set by your requests, we keep up the pace. Diplomacy is Not an Option is a complex game with many nuanced mechanics, and to succeed — and, more importantly, to enjoy the experience — they must be felt, not just understood. To help with that, in May we are preparing The Bigger, Longer Update, built entirely around another frequent request: making the game clearer and more approachable. The tutorial system will be expanded, allowing newcomers to get into the rhythm faster and fully grasp control over the game. Having a big stick is less important — hitting the target with the first strike is what truly matters. We will also improve the interface, making it flexible and comfortable. With UI scaling, you will be able to adjust it to a size that suits you. And if commanding from above is not your style and you crave the heat of battle, you will be able to take direct control of a single warrior to feel every sharp edge of combat — and achieve a sweet feeling of domination. Just hope that enemy catapult balls do not interrupt your rushing into enemy ranks with brute force…

The Penetrative Update
[p]We will continue to implement your feedback, and June will be dedicated to improving the campaign. Alongside The Penetrative Update, we will introduce a new layer of progression. Due to the specifics of DiNaO, a traditional form of meta-progression does not fit the game, so we have devised our own, unique solution. The core idea remains the same: to deliver a sense of growth and advancement after every completed mission.

The Hot Update
[p]In August, prepare for The Hot Update. It will bring scorching maps that will challenge your endurance in intense battles.

The Culmination
[p]And in October, something truly massive awaits you. The Culmination. Unforgettable. We will keep the intrigue for now, but trust us — it will be worth it. Stay tuned for more news, and thank you for being with us!

Update 1.0.119_r

Features
 • The Undead is now available as a playable faction in Sandbox. Please note that not all maps were possible to convert to the Undead versions, so the number of maps available to the faction is a bit less than to the Lord’s forces;
General
 • Changed the roster of starting units for difficulties Easy-Peasy Lemon Squeezy and Almost a Walk in the Park in The Next Best Superstar campaign mission (Abberlore siege in the Undead branch) thus making it possible to get Zerg Rush achievement on the listed difficulties;
Improvements
 • Increased responsiveness when placing a number of the same buildings fast;
 • Expanded the Statistics window to incorporate information on buildings’ resource consumption (e.g. Wood, Iron or Dead Souls) and Defilement resource (when playing for the Undead);
 • In Endless and Sandbox Modes map tabs now show more information — beside map names and enemy factions you can now see playable faction, map sizes, and enemy numbers;
 • Multiple UI/UX fixes and improvements;
Bug Fixes
 • Fixed a bug that caused some saves made in Sandbox Mode get stuck on 75% when loading;
 • The achievement A Hunting We Shall Go (to kill Defiled Father of Heffalumps) now is granted properly in Cure for the Princess mission on Your Worst Nightmare difficulty;
 • Fixed a visual bug that caused the top panel to show incorrect numbers for daily resource income when playing for the Undead (e.g. 80.0001/day instead of 80/day);
 • Fixed a bug that made it so changing storage capacity of Bones, Dead Souls and Death Metal for some Undead buildings in Map Editor wasn’t working;
 • Fixed a bug that caused the Undead to be listed as enemies on maps created in Map Editor with no enemies when the Undead were selected as playable faction;
 • Some localization fixes.

December Custom Map Showcase!

[p]Pupultas!
[p]Again it’s time for us to look at some fun maps you’ve created!
[p]Today we challenge you to test your skills at surviving with limited stone! Because that’s the premise of Valley of Ferwood — a small, but full of character map.
[dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][p]Your goals are simple — build Town Hall III, clear the map from enemies and survive five attacking waves. The catch is, you have a single source of stone on the entire map. Use it wisely, hunt for carts and resource piles, trade extensively! Copious amounts of iron and wood will help you fuel your war machine — simply keep expanding and increasing your production and population. Rugged terrain will also help — mountains surrounding the keep will funnel enemies to be mowed by your defences.
[p][p]This is a medium difficulty map and will be great for players who want to train their progression speed, or for those who simply want to have some fun! Give it a try and give alittlesupernova thumbs up!
