SC Newsletter / Launcher 1.0 Released / Development Update / Alpha Release Plans



[h2]The Skyclimbers official Launcher v1.0 is now released![/h2]



Your login information will be stored on our servers for eventual cross-play and cross-save features.

  • All Alpha tier backers and above should receive their Steam keys via email today.
  • Batches of keys are being sent with our partner service Humble Bundle in groups of 500.
  • This will grant access to the launcher, OST, Digital Artbook, and HD Wallpapers.
  • The launcher is NOT pre-loaded with any Alpha builds yet...
  • Further improvements to the launcher will be rolled out continuously through our auto-updates.




[h2]Early Access has been delayed to 2022, and Alpha has been Pushed back to Q4 of this year. [/h2]

  • We've done our best to maintain transparency about development progress through the public Roadmap which will continue to be updated through Alpha.
  • We are still wrapping up the last few rounds of Pre-alpha and as a result had to make this decision in an effort to bring backers a more feature-complete, polished Alpha.
  • Thanks to all of your support, Paratope is fully funded through 2022 without any external publishers or investors. Therefore we can continue to maintain build quality as our top priority, and take the time needed to polish the game.
  • In the words of the great Shigeru Miyamoto, "A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad." We thank you for your patience, and promise to deliver a great game :handshake:

  • Yos will be creating custom effects for our characters and game-world. Here is an example of his work!




[h2]Another key area was filled this month by Leonardo, our 3D modeler / Texture Artist![/h2]

  • Leo will primarily focus on characters, along with props. Here are some of his models in action!










[h2]Bringing the models to life will be our new 3D animators!! Welcome to Dayna and Andrey, who will be tackling the hundreds of Sentius Animations we need...[/h2]

[h2]All of the Starter designs for the first three Dynasties are complete![/h2]

  • Each starter Sentius will begin as the Dynasty type and evolve into a dual-type in its final stage. This is marked by the color tag in its name...



  • Yes, you will be able to tame all the starters, though they will be super rare to find...
  • The fourth starter will be achieved through new game + and all will be revealed closer to release!
  • We went with a slightly different art style for the smaller Sentius, which makes them smaller / cuter and we hope you like it!! This makes them easier to mount on your shoulder as well 😉




Round 4 of Pre-alpha was dedicated to Shoi / Void systems...


Plasma is the element of the Shoi Dynasty...



Our narrative Designer Saria has been whipping up lots of lore for us...



The pyramids are rare Shoi locations that will be guarded by other Sentinels...



Inside each pyramid, you will come across the Atlas Prism, a device used for planetary travel and exploration...



Advanced technology such as the Sentius Gauntlet is provided by the Shoi Dynasty...




Void is the only Dynasty that is also an Element...







Void Altars can be used to summon void Lords...



Some Sentius are Void dual- types, such as Ravendos...

  • We are proud to showcase our genre-defining city building / RPG mechanics in full detail!!
  • Admittedly this has taken us longer than estimated to polish, but the results speak for themselves...
  • The groundwork has been laid for our Kingdom progression system, along with robust AI interactions







  • The Sentipedia is growing quickly, with almost 100 entries added to date!
  • You can begin to pick your favorites and plan a team for release 😉

Each Sentius entry will include real in-game data...







World page interactions closely mirror the in-game world map.



  • The world map displays three Dynasties currently based on the planet they inhabit
  • Next, we plan to implement Shoi and Void placed on the moon Hex
  • Clicking on a Dynasty logo will open a full Dynasty overview:





  • Dynasty pages will lead to deeper information as we update the site
  • You will be able to preview all 5 biomes from each continent along with Sentius found there

Q3 Update | Roadmap / Pre-alpha / Alpha

An update on our Pre-alpha development cycle...

  • There has been a change to how Pre-Alpha will be managed going forward. Instead of the originally planned pre-alpha rounds after each new system is implemented, we have decided to move the testing rounds together, to take place in the weeks before Alpha release in Q3.

  • We have made this decision since several of the systems meant for later testing rounds are already being implemented, while some of the earlier systems still require some more work.

  • As a result, initial testing goals for each round have been shifted and we feel that it will be more beneficial to perform the Pre-alpha Tests and Feedback after all critical systems have been implemented.

  • Our stance on NDA for Pre-alpha has also had to be adjusted. We will be maintaining NDA throughout Pre-Alpha testing rounds, however, later Alpha releases will be NDA-free. This is also due to the fact that testing rounds will be isolated in some cases, and represent gameplay scenarios from the mid or late game for the purposes of testing systems at scale.

  • With a large backlog of showcases, gameplay, and informational videos, allowing our team to fully realize our vision prior to launch without interruption will benefit the community as a whole. We appreciate the excitement that so many users have shown in showcasing Skyclimbers as well as helping us improve our game.

  • Despite these changes to the schedule of release for Pre-alpha and its management, we will be continuing to post updates and content related to the game through our various social media channels. This means more un-cut gameplay so that we can continue to showcase the features being developed in a transparent fashion. We highly recommend following us on Youtube, Instagram, Twitter, Reddit, and Steam or otherwise joining our Discord where you can keep up with development more closely.



We understand that this news may be disappointing, however, we feel this is necessary to ensure that we deliver a quality game to you upon release. From all of us here at Paratope, thank you so much for your continued support as we work to bring you a new adventure like no other 😎
