Flying Controls Update

  • Dinosaurs now gain experience points from eating.
  • You must accumulate X% of your previous growth stage's required growth points in order to gain experience points equal to one fifth of the cost of one stat increase.
  • You cannot gain experience points through eating as a hatchling.
  • This also works when you are full grown.
  • Now herbivores and scavengers (carnivores as well) have a way to advance their stats that doesn't involve killing.
  • Carnivores require 7.5% growth points.
  • Herbivores require 15% growth points.
  • As with gaining growth points for normal growth some sources give more growth points and this also affects how much you need to eat in order to gain experience points.

Changes:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • While flying, your dinosaur no longer automatically turns to face the direction the camera is facing. The dinosaur now only turns when a directional key is pressed on the keyboard (W, A, S, D).

  • While flying, pressing the forward directional key no longer makes your dinosaur dive.

  • While flying, pressing the 'S' key will no longer slow down your dinosaur.

  • While flying upwards, your dinosaur will slow down.

  • While flying downwards, your dinosaur will speed up.

  • While flying, pressing and holding the left control key will slow your dinosaur down until it is hovering. Continue holding down the left control key to hover.

  • While flying and hovering, the player can now attack, smell, call for help, join pack, and leave pack.

  • While flying and hovering you can use the movement keys for fine hovering precision.

  • While flying and hovering you can now flap your wings with the spacebar to gain altitude but not be propelled forward.

  • While flying you can now gain a quick burst of speed if you aren't at maximum speed by holding the 'Left Shift' key and pressing 'Spacebar'. Also works while hovering.

Bug Fixes:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • Fixed some glitches with the different flying animations.

High Definition Rendering

  • The game now uses Unity's High Definition Render Pipeline.

  • The ocean's underwater camera effect has been changed. Being underwater now looks higher quality.

  • The jungle's vegetation is now affected by wind.

  • There are now game announcements on the main menu screen. These can be toggled on and off.

  • Will Dodson has created a music track for the game and it is featured as the main menu music!

Temporarily Disabled:
  • The smelling system had to be disabled temporarily. Another solution will need to be created that works with Unity's High Definition Render Pipeline.

Changes:
  • Overhead healthbars are now larger for larger dinosaurs.

  • The underwater ambience sound can now be adjusted with the 'Ambience' slider in the audio options menu.

  • Plant food that is being carried is now five times larger than previously to make it easier to see.

  • The player's dinosaurs now only play their attack sound if they hit a target.

  • Some biomes have received vegetation adjustments.

  • Archelon and Sarcosuchus can now spawn in the ocean.

Bug Fixes:
  • If a dinosaur's corpse is underwater and turns into a pile of meat that pile of meat no longer spawns at the surface of the water.

  • The footstep volume slider was changing the bass boost volume. This has been corrected.

  • Dinosaur attack range and eating range code has been modified and range values were refined. Previously it wasn't always working as intended.

  • Food dropped while underwater now appears in front of the player instead of at the surface of the water.

  • Ammonite no longer sometimes spawn on land.

Common, Uncommon, and Rare Edible Plants

There are now common, uncommon, and rare edible plants for herbivores. The rarer a plant is the more nutritious it is and the more growth points it gives. Each biome has its own edible plants. Each biome's plants are worth different amounts of growth points so it may be worth traveling to other biomes in order to grow faster.

Performance:
  • The load time when you've chosen a dinosaur at the main menu and are loading into the game has been removed.

  • The noticeable load time during gameplay of new patches of grass loading into the area has been removed. There should no longer be any freezes during gameplay.

Various Changes

The player can now turn their dinosaur without moving by holding the control key and then pressing a movement key. This does not work while flying.

The player can now smell nests. Their own nest is highlighted in light pink and other nests are highlighted in dark pink. Aquatic dinosaurs cannot smell nests on land. Only aquatic and amphibious dinosaurs can smell nests underwater. Nests can be smelled ten times further away than other things can be smelled. Up to four nests can be smelled at once, depending on the age of the dinosaur.

The player's dinosaur now has an acceleration rate that is used while moving. They'll start moving slower and pick up speed over time. Each species can have its own acceleration rate.

Aquatic nests now appear as seaweed.

Changes:
  • Leedsichthys now has gills.

  • The meadow biome has been changed to the prarie biome, and its grasses have changed.

  • The ocean biome has changed slightly.

  • The Archelon and Sarcosuchus now play their swimming and water-idle animations slower.

Balance Tuning:
  • Dinosaur speed no longer increases linearly from hatchling size to adult size. Instead there are four speeds, one for hatchling, juvenile, sub-adult, and adult. This allows younger dinosaurs to be faster but not quite as fast as the adults. Now, most dinosaurs are much faster at younger stages.

  • Dinosaur movement speed has received a tuning pass.

  • Dinosaur turn speed has received a tuning pass.

  • All flying dinosaurs have had their stamina doubled so they can fly longer.
