Pyramid inspired to the House of Eagles

Hello, dear followers of Mictlan!

Today we bring you this new WIP. Our artists created this pyramid inspired by the House of Eagles belonging to the archeological zone of Malinalco.
This place's main purpose was to be a sanctuary for the Eagle and Jaguar warriors to stay in, to rest between battles, to train their fighting skills, and to perform sacred rituals related to witchcraft.

Inside the pyramids, there were three sculptures of birds and one of a feline, in addition to several stone bowls, which are believed to be used to place the hearts of people that were sacrificed in the temple.

Black Temple

Today we are presenting concept art pieces of the Black Temple, right out of the imagination of our talented artist Mauricio Pampin.

In this temple, Micltantecutli’s priests would worship him by sacrificing prisoners.
We can see where the points of interest will be located in the temple, like the sacrificial table or Mictlantecuhtli’s effigy, as well as the scale of the walls and columns in relation to the player’s character.

In order to accomplish this kind of works, our artists need to carry extensive research on pre-Columbian architecture, and then mix reality and historical accuracy with the dark fantasy elements that will give this place a surreal, frightening look.

Cihuacoatl

Today we want to show you the first concept arts for the Mexica deity Cihuacoatl.

The “snake woman” is a deity associated with earth and its fertility under the name of Quilaztli; but perhaps her biggest qualities are her prophetic abilities and her intimate relationship with power as a complementary figure to Huitzilopochtli.

The temple of Cihuacoatl was known as the House of Blackness, and in some texts, there were stories about how it was necessary to crawl into a space of complete darkness where she resided.

It would help us immensely if you decide to sign up to our Kickstarter campaign.
In order to launch the campaign, we need as many supporters as possible to register to the page. It literally takes a minute to do so, but it would mean the world to us.

ElGranQenk joining Mictlan!

Mictlan community, greetings!

Huitzilopochtli has blessed this day! We have the pleasure of announcing our collaboration with the one and only ElGranQenk, who joins the growing list of YouTubers that, just like you, want to support the development of this project.

In today's concept art, we can see him as a fearless explorer, dawning his breastplate and bearing his sword, ready to venture deep into the uncharted parts of Mictlan and face the otherworldly forces that thrived in 16th century Mesoamerica.

We are launching our Kickstarter campaign soon! (have you registered yet? It only takes a minute!)

Flyers of Papantla

Today we are presenting you the Flyers of Papantla, those who performed the ancient Ritual of the Flyers.

The origin of this ritual is a prayer to a deity as a way to ask for the rain to fall over the crops in times of drought. It was a fertility dance full of symbolism, originally associated with the region of Totonacapan in Veracruz.

These participants to the Ritual of the Flyers, in Pre-Columbian times, are wearing more simple clothes, they are possibly from a more rural area, isolated from the urban centers where these rituals would have the proper flair of an event of this magnitude.
