Pre-Alpha March Update 0.7.0

Greetings!
This is quite a large update and contains a substantial amount of new content and updates.

  • Soul Goal and Soul Counter have been added to the Main HUD. Each level will have a contracted amount required to collect. If achieved by the end of the final wave, the level will be successful. If not, the level will have failed.

  • Bloodline Agreement (Story) has been added at the beginning of the level to establish the players name and enter into the agreement with The Devil.

  • New beginning level cinematic added.

  • Game Intro Cinematic (Work in progress) added.

  • Moved the Snakeskin room and Spike Wall room to the Scare Traps section. Pre-Fab rooms will now be primarily for pre-designed rooms.

  • Guests Heart Rate bar will only show if within a certain distance to the player.

  • Inferno Updated to apply damage over time to guests that enter the trap when activated. The amount of damage applied is 1/2 of the current upgrade scare amount every 3 seconds.

  • Spike Wall is now a Sinister Trap and will crush guests to death.

  • Added Spike wall blood FX and sound FX.

  • Fixed an issue where guests would not notice the game was paused if the player has clicked on them to view their details.

  • Police now drive to the location vs. magically appearing.

  • Collisions for walls should no longer prevent placing scare traps and decor close to the walls.

  • Guests faces are now randomized with halloween masks.

  • Guests skin tone is now randomized at spawn.

  • Guest waves are now more randomized in terms of how many guests are spawned.

  • Guests are now spawned in different locations for better spacing and queueing.

  • Player now starts in the early evening. Dynamic Day/Night cycle reflects this.

  • Weather effects now add puddles and snow in the world. Does not affect items inside haunted house even though they are exposed to the elements as this is an invisible roof for the player.

  • Added several new ambient tracks to the soundtrack, When player zooms out substantially an ambient soundtrack will play.

  • Updated the pause and game speed functions so that the time of day will now reflect the game speed.

  • New sound fx for game speed UI.

  • Dragging the build window should now move to the correct location with the anchor at the mouse cursor location.

  • Upgrade Buttons now react correctly and will show the previously purchased upgrades as green.

  • Fixed an issue where right clicking while moving did not sell the item.

  • Updated Phobia icons. These will be further developed and replaced with image icons vs. abbreviations.

  • Fixed the guest details so they appear when you click on a guest and go away when you click away.

  • Guests will now move in slow-motion when Guest Details are visible so the player can more easily read this panel of information.

  • New Decor Items (Will later be moved to a Services tab) Maybe A Slice Of Pie concession vendor, Snack vending machine and Drink vending machine. Further functionality will be implemented. For now, it's just a static prop.

  • Fear Tolerance is now called HEART RATE.

  • Added PHOBIAS to the game. If guests have certain Phobias and the player builds items with matching phobias this will act as a fear multiplier for that guest and increase their heart rate.

  • Fixed an issue where the guest counter was showing an incorrect count at the beginning of the game.

  • If a wave of guests has been spawned, player will no longer be able to move items until the cooldown period is over (equal to 1/2 of the current wave timer). This prevents a player from just moving traps from its original location to a new location and not having to buy an additional trap. This could be seen as cheating or an exploit.

Police, Trap Upgrades & Gameplay Mechanics update

Greetings, a pretty hefty update today as I implement the first version of the Police Investigation gameplay mechanic as well as gameplay mechanic updates and changes.

  • Guests that leave completely scared will increase the haunted house fear reputation. Subsequently, guests that leave unimpressed or not scared will decrease the fear reputation.

  • When a guest dies either by heart attack or by a sinister trap their soul will now be added to the soul counter (top right corner).

  • Guest details now contain recent guest thoughts based on how scared they are.

  • If guests fear tolerance gets too low, they have a chance to have a heart attack. This is random for each guest.

  • Guest details should now be more responsive when the mouse enters and leaves hovering over them to show details.

  • Guests will now spawn with dynamic fear tolerance. If player's overall Fear Reputation is higher, the guests will be more difficult to scare.

  • Guest details widget updated with Fear Tolerance percentage data.

  • Added sound fx for the police report.

  • Updated the lights for the police car.

  • Updated the sound fx for the police leaving.

  • Police will now potentially investigate multiple attractions before leaving.

  • Police will now provide a police report with their findings after they have completed their investigation. This is still a work in progress.

  • If a sinister trap is activated while the police are on the scene investigating, you will need to either bribe the police (random chance) or hire a lawyer (Lawyer mechanic is not yet implemented).

  • Simplified the construction lights. Removed light posts and animation.

  • Implemented a new overlap detection function to ensure hallways/rooms are big enough for guests to navigate.

  • Fixed an issue with the main menu Early Access text. This should now appear and disappear correctly if the mouse is hovering or not hovering over the text area.

  • Removed Steam VR and Occulus VR support as these were features that are enabled by default via Unreal Engine and are not supported by this game.

  • Implemented trap upgrades. These can be found in the options when selecting an item that can be upgraded. Upgraded traps cause more fear to the guests but cost Fear Reputation to upgrade.


Known Issues:
  • Sinister Traps are not working as expected.
  • Some graphic bugs with guest details
  • Some collision on some items need further tweaks and adjustments
  • End of level Win/Lose logic is not working as expected due to 0.6.0 changes. This will be addressed in the next update.

Pre-Alpha 0.5.8

Hotfix from update 0.5.7-0.5.8
Patch notes are as follows:

  • Fixed a performance issue related to the construction lights.
  • Fixed an issue when guests are spawned into the level, they will match the current game speed setting.
  • Manual Wave Timer fixed to be consistently 1/4th of the wave time.
  • Fixed a bug related to guests leaving while HP reaches 0.
  • Fixed an issue where guest scare level text and background profile color was not updating properly with each wave.
  • Fixed an issue where the cooldown timer would not reset on player activated traps.


Pre-Alpha 0.5.7

Happy Valentines Day to those that celebrate it, Here is the most recent update version 0.5.7.
Patch notes are as follows:

  • Fixed an issue related to the game speed and the game being paused/unpaused.

  • Repositioned the Guest HP bar so it is now displayed over the guest for better visibility.

  • Guests on Player Activated traps should no longer take damage unless the trap is activated by the player.

  • When level complete and the player is taken to the level select screen, the camera should now be possessed and no longer allow free movement.

  • Guests details can now be seen once they enter the haunted house by hovering the mouse over them.

  • Guest Details now update their current Fear Tolerance correctly (HP).

  • Players can now move around and build while the game is paused.

  • - Construction Lights now activate when moving an item and Deactivate once the item has been placed.

  • When in Guest Camera mode, ESCAPE key now exits this view (as well as G+SHIFT).

  • Last wave of level now shows up as FINAL WAVE in the timer section.

  • Hovering your mouse over a guest will display their current details.

  • Fixed an issue where the User Activated traps hotkeys were not working correctly.

  • Added a visual indicator to each User Activated trap to display its assigned quickslot number.

  • Updated trap distance and radius for all scare traps.

  • Updated UI elements

  • Added a new song to the soundtrack

  • Fixed an issue where the tutorial prevented the player from clicking on the other UI elements.

  • Guests can now be clicked on to display individual details and information. More information will be added to this panel in later builds.

  • Finance Screen placeholder is implemented. You are only able to adjust the ticket entry price.

  • Fixed the collision on several items

  • Increased initial starting money and fear for testing purposes. This will be balanced prior to early access release.

  • Guest Camera Mode now allows free movement in a first person perspective to explore your haunted house. NOTE: Scare traps are not triggered by the player when in this mode.

  • Revamped the user activated traps. These traps will now appear as a Quickslot and can be activated via mouse click or number keys.

Greetings,
A new pre-alpha update has been pushed to Steam. This update aims to fix some bugs reported by testers as well as quality of life improvements as suggested by testers.

  • Implemented construction lighting when in Build mode.

  • Dragging the build window to a new location will now make the build window always open at the same location.

  • Added new construction item Metal Truss

  • Added new decor item CIrcus Game

  • Added new decor item Pumpkins

  • FIrst iteration of the Police investigation gameplay element has been implemented. Only visual at this point. Further logic to be added.

  • New Sound FX added for Trap Door, Clown Burst and The Butcher

  • New icon added to build list items that have a cooldown.

  • Added a new manual trap activation to the Trap Door (Sinister Trap). These will be further developed in future builds. Sinister traps have a significant cooldown.

  • Added a new progress bar to show fear reputation amount and to help visualize fear reputation balance to prevent the police from investigating your haunted house.

  • Added scream audio fx to guests when they are scared. This is a first pass and will be further tweaked.

  • Added a new song to the soundtrack.

  • Skeletal Grave Swipe now resets correctly without skeleton going into a T-Pose.

  • Cooldown timer added to the Grave Swipe, Barrel Crash, Scare Trap attraction.
