Brutal Orchestra Celebrates the Death of Hieronymus Bosch!

[p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]509 years ago Hieronymus Bosch was buried at Saint John's Cathedral in 's-Hertogenbosch, North Brabant, Netherlands. His life was poorly documented but his funeral is a date that survives the test of time.[/p][p][/p][p]To celebrate his life and legacy we are putting Brutal Orchestra on sale for 50% off from August 9th to 10th!

In many ways the work of Bosch feels more modern now than it did in his own day.[/p][p][/p][p]As long as there is the dance of chaos and beauty in the world there will be those who try to make sense of it and those who cannot bear to look. Easter Egg of Incubus



The Charcarrion has once more dragged itself from its shallow grave and eggs are seemingly everywhere to be found!

This can only mean one thing: It’s Easter in Purgatory!

Brutal Orchestra 1.4.1f1 Minor fixes

A small update focused on more modding options:

Fixes
  • Fixed bug where Premature Excretion Ability was not being removed properly.
  • Fixed bug where boss pearls were not showcasing properly if mods were being deactivated.
  • Fixed bug where hidden characters were messing up the Character Selection Menu.
  • Fixed Bug on Status Effect Application where it was not properly working as intended.
  • Withering units won't die anymore if a unit dies and spawns another unit.
  • Fixed bug where Fishing Rod and Can o' Worms were generating more items than intended.
  • Showdown Ability icon fixed.
  • Fixed The Orpheum environment layers so they show properly.


Texts:
  • Crooked Die Item now specifies that it only decreases direct damage.
  • Fixed typo on Eviscerate Abilities.
  • Updated Bone Spurs description so it is a bit easier to understand.


Balancing:
  • Bronzo's Bailout Ability will now heal 30 hp instead of fully healing him.
  • Blood Gamble Ability fail condition fixed so even if the attack is blocked by Shield or Divine Protection it won't deal damage to the Party Member that uses it.
  • Starvation Ability now has the Frail intent.


Mods
  • Increased the Ability Icons in Combat from 6 to 10 for Enemies and Party members.
  • Made some Healing and Damage variables modifiable for easier modding access.
  • If a Modded Item is missing its achievement it will showcase an error achievement.
  • Added support for custom Modded Achievement messages.
  • Made the Ability Generation function for characters modifiable for mods.
  • Easy and Hard mode Mung and Jumble Guts Enemy Bundles are now different entities so modders can add their encounters to them without affecting the Easy mode.
  • Added nearly all Passive icons to the Intents list for mods.
  • Added methods to Status and Field Effect scripts so it is easier to remove content from them for mods.
  • Added Specific Unit Targeting by Health to the BrutalAPI.
  • Added Custom data for Combat Results for mods.
  • Added Custom message options for Modded achievements
  • Made Omitted fools independent from each Zone so it is easier for mods to add their fools into the omission list.
  • Added a system to add custom Zones into the run.
  • Added an option to load and swap Zones during a run for future mods.
  • If a modded zone path doesn't end in a boss it will now show a Zone portal alongside the rest of the paths instead of only a Zone portal.

Talia has been very busy this year working on her new game, Clown Meat, which (after some unfortunate but necessary delays) is releasing in 2025!

A fun reveal for roguelike enjoyers is that similar to Nowak (and Bosch), Clown Meat will feature Isaac as a playable character!ːsmileː

Nico performed a herculean feat by creating official Steam Workshop support for Brutal Orchestra, which was released in this year's Brutal Orchestra: Human Canvas update.



Additionally, Nico has been reportedly "working on dice". Barcelona local, Nicolás Delgado, denied further comment when asked for elaboration on the issue.

Brutal Orchestra 1.4f3 Minor Modding additions

Yet another small update with some minor stuff:

Fixes
  • Fixed Ol' Stumpy bug where it was only triggering with Oil-Slicked.
  • Fixed visual issue where a party member getting a passive that they already had would show twice in the Overworld.


Mods
  • Now you can make an item that makes the party member a main character like Nowak.
  • Added Generic text PopUps so you can use any type of popup in-game for your numbers/texts or create a custom one.
  • Spawning enemies now let you set their starting health if you want.
  • If a modded character did not have unlocks but the modder adds unlocks to them later, their greyed out pearls won't be shown anymore so you know which characters still need to beat the final bosses.
  • You can now check the death type of enemies and characters for custom achievements, passives and items.
  • Minor fix for Enemy death modded achievements.
  • Fixed issue with modded items not having their types properly set up.
  • Added some extra functions for Bone Spurs generation in the BrutalAPI.
