Windblown | A look at the horizon (and the clouds!)

Hey there Leapers!
[p]
We hope you've all had an awesome start to the year! We've been working tirelessly over the the recent months, and we are cooking up some really cool stuff that we think you're going to love.

Soooo... we wanted to peel back the curtain and show you exactly what we’re tinkering with right now!
[/p][p][/p]
The Map
[p]A big ask from the Community has actually been for a quick way to see your surroundings during a run. We know we have a bunch of completionists out there who'll who want to scour every last inch of a biome, just in case they miss a waterfall that ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT hide a secret behind it. [/p][p][/p][p]We’re experimenting with new UI concepts, including icons for items and... are those teleportation points? We’re still fine-tuning how much info is "too much" info, so we’ll need your eyes on this soon.[/p][p] [/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Redefining Exploration
[p]Windblown is all about mayhem and agency, but we’ve been asking ourselves: How can we give you even more freedom without breaking that flow? [/p][p]We’ve been reimagining the "bones" of the game - specifically how biomes are stitched together. This new generation system is a big shift for us, aiming to give you way more choice in how you tackle a run:[/p]
 • [p]Do you speedrun straight to the end?[/p]
 • [p]Do you veer off-course to hit the shop?[/p]
 • [p]Do you hunt for every hidden nook or tackle the boss early?[/p]
[p][/p][p]By pairing this exploration overhaul with the map, we’re trying to transform the world into something far more vast and interconnected. We’re pushing for dramatic verticality, specialized transitions, and layouts that reward a true sense of discovery. We can't wait to see if these new layouts feel as rewarding to you as they do to us.[/p][p][/p]
Getting Cloudy
[p]It might sound small, but we feel the backdrop of Windblown is the soul of the atmosphere. We’re introducing a new cloud shader to give each biome a more unique, immersive "vibe" as you dash through the sky.[/p][p][/p]
Here’s the "Before" 👇
[p][/p]
And here’s what we’re seeing in-engine today! 👇
[p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
The Road Ahead
[p]We truly want you to feel the vastness and the richness of the world we’re building. By pairing these new layouts with the map and the updated atmosphere, the goal is a multi-layered world that feels larger and more "alive" than ever before.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]We honestly can’t wait to have you jump in and break these systems once they're ready, so we can see how they actually change your adventures. This is just the beginning, we’re already looking ahead to enriching the in-game economy, meta-systems, and so much more. We’re so excited to finally share this journey with you! Let us know what you think, we’d love to do more of these "behind-the-scenes" looks![/p][p][/p][p]And btw, if you'd like to be more involved with the development of Windblown, and chat with other players make sure you join us in the Windblown Discord![/p][p][/p][p]Thank you again for all the feedback, thoughts and love you share with us![/p][p]-MT[/p]
What's Next?
Windblown | The "Fungal Bloom" Update OUT NOW!

Hey everyone!

We want to take the opportunity to thank you all for your passion and support since our Lost & Altered update came out a couple of weeks ago! It's things like this that fuel our team to push forward, and we can't thank you enough.

Today though, we're back with the next update for Windblown, aptly named "The Fungal Bloom Update". This is our SEVENTH content drop since we launched into Early Access, and a type of thank you to the Community ahead of the holidays!

Check out the latest Community Video below 👇
Fungal Swamp Biome
A HUGE part of this update, is a complete overhaul of the Fungal Swamp Biome! As you may know, the Fungal Swamp was one of our first Biomes in the game, and an environment we always planned to come back to. This update brings the visuals and atmosphere up to speed with the rest of our world, and we hope you enjoy jumping back in!
New Weapon
A new update usually means something new to destroy your enemies with... and this time is no different!

Cuprik's Hammer begins as a very fast, agile weapon, perfect for dealing quick bursts of damage and priming an Alterattack. If you activate it's Alterattack with another weapon however, it turns into a frost-infused powerhouse. Attacks will be slower, but hit way harder, plus every attack will shatter the earth with ice crystals, damaging and sometimes freezing enemies!
New Trinkets
New Trinkets are joining the fray too!

Fury - Go into overdrive, increasing your attack speed and damage for a limited time. You will take more damage yourself though, so watch out.

Wind Gust - Expel a gust of wind around you, knocking enemies back and destroying incoming projectiles! Perfect for dealing with those pesky gun dogs, or rockets in Sanctuary.

Ethereal Blades - launch up to three spectral blades in a straight line, piercing through all enemies in their path. Spend a little bit of time lining up a shot, and the payoff can be huge!
Story Quests and Portraits
Our recent updates have introduced new story quests and lore to the game, and we know this is an important aspect to our Community. So in this more recent update fleshes out some characters even more!

You'll find new interactions with Cuprik and Sigourney, letting you dive deeper into their pasts and better understand their presence in the Ark.

We're not finished there though! We've also added portraits to character dialogues, meaning your interactions with them should be more memorable. These portraits are designed to showcase NPC emotion and intent, hopefully letting you better understand their personalities.
Memory Crystals
We wanted to introduce a clearer way of seeing your progress in Windblown, and what better way then in the Ark?

You'll now find some new islands that store Memory Crystals, and upon dashing through them will showcase things like weapons you've unlocked, and key items or progress!
More!
• Multiple Memory Decks - You can now store presets at the Memory Deck! This means you could create several builds and switch between them while at the Ark.
 • Cuprik's Forge - This now replaces the Equipment Box, and has also had a small upgrade. You can now craft several items before heading out on a run, helping to spend those resources you've been hoarding!
 • Biome Rewards - Each biome should now have extra rewards, instead of just one. This means you can pick the route you want through the Vortex without missing out on any additional benefits.
 • Resource Converter - You know all of those Cogs you've been saving? Well, now you can convert them to other resources you actually need!

There are also loads of under the hood changes, quality of life improvements, performance tweaks and more!

That just about wraps things up for this update, and this year! 2025 has been an absolute blast for the team, and we can't thank you enough. Our players commitment and passion for Windblown is what keeps us moving forward, and we can't wait to show you what next year will bring!

We hope you all have a happy and peaceful holiday period.

Cheers,
