Patch #1 Notes

[p]Every time a game gets released, a patch note gets its wings. And I think that's beautiful.

And so is ours, because it's actually nothing major. Just a bunch of QoL changes and bug fixes![/p][p]We've been extremely lucky that nothing major has broken, so let's keep it like that, shall we? πŸ‘€ We've just has to tweak a few things, make others behave, and so forth.[/p][p][/p][p]Here's what's on the docket for this lukewarm fix:[/p][p][/p][p]So far, apart from some game tweaks, we haven't had any game-breaking occurrences. Which for a game launch is pretty freaking great... And now I need to knock on wood because we'd love for it to stay that way.[/p][p]But if you do stumble upon something you think needs to be fixed or looked at, we're all ears! You can post it in the thread of this update, make a new entry on the game's forum page, or find us on a platform like Discord to let us know. We have a whole channel just for bugs![/p][p][/p][p]Thank you so much for the support you've show our game so far. It means the world to us.[/p][p][/p][p]If you've picked up the game, regardless of if you've enjoyed your time with it, we'd really appreciate it if you left a review. It helps not only other players know what's up with the game, but it tells Steam that "hey, this game ain't half bad".[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]There's one more big announcement from us coming in the next week, so stay tuned for that. But for now, thank you for making our first launch an amazing experience![/p][p][/p][p]Chat soon,[/p][p]

🀘 Thank You for an Amazing Launch Week! 🀘

[p]Hey everyone![/p][p]We've officially entered our first post-launch weekend, which gave us enough breathing room to come here and say how immensely grateful we are for the support so far!

Thanks to you we're officially rated as Positive on steam - with a 100% positive review score! [/p][p](And, knock on wood, there's been very minimal bug reports which is even more of a miracle)[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Every single kind word has meant the world to us. It not only helps us by telling Steam that our game is worth showing to other people, but helps us improve and keeps the experience rocking for everyone.[/p][p][/p][p]We hope you are having a Metavoidal-filled weekend; May your combos be as perfect as your dodges, and your boss battles triumphant!

As always, if you run into any issues or come across any bugs, please let us know on any channel you feel most comfortable using. We have a dedicated bug channel in our Discord.[/p][p][/p][p]Thanks again for helping us have such a positive start!

Speak soon,

IT'S SHOW TIME!
IT'S FINALLY TIME TO RELEASE THE CORRUPTION OF METAL ONTO THE WORLD!

Our master plan is finally complete.
[p][/p][p]"I don't get the reference" button[/p][p][/p][p]Right. On. Schedule. Mostly... Let's not talk about the Xbox delay.[/p][p][/p][p]Ok all jokes aside I can finally say, after 3 long years of development, that Metavoidal is available to play! AS WE SPEAK!

Wow, that's surreal to type.

Thank you so much for supporting us, this game, and our dream of releasing a commercial game. I'm so incredibly proud of every single team member that has ever touched the game, because it's our weird combination of ideas that made MVDL what it is.

There will never be another game like this, because we all put a bit of ourselves in it every day. And I cannot wait to hear what people say about it.

As always, if you run into any bugs please find us on any platform that you're comfortable using and send us what you've got. Or you can make use of the bugs channel in our discord.[/p][p][/p]
And now, a sneaky reveal...
[p][/p][p]We're currently working on releasing MVDL's OST! That's right, we will have the soundtrack available as soon as we physically can. The tentative release date is the 22nd of August, but I will let you know as soon as I do if that changes.

The soundtrack will feature 43 tracks, including the theme song our wonderful maestro, JD Viljoen, created for the game. I can't wait for you guys to hear it, he did an incredible job with the OST and it deserves all the praise.

OK, I think that's all from us at the moment.

Thank you again for the support. At the time of writing, we've reached over 11 thousand wishlists. A number none of us even fathomed would be possible at the start of the project. But here we are! And it is quite literally thanks to you.

So for one more time,
GOOD LUCK & HAVE FUN!

Metavoidal Is Coming Soon!

[p]That's right, you Double-Bass Demons, our game is coming out SOON! And not only will it be come in kicking on Steam, but on Xbox (and the Microsoft store), as well.

Enough fanfare, feast your eyes on the official release date trailer for METAVOIDAL!
[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p] We're currently doing final soundchecks for the big debut show. But while you wait, why not tell all your friends, or share this video with your parents to show them it wasn't just a phase, or write about it on your favourite venue's bathroom walls to help us reach the metal heads that would like to play a little drummer dude!

It's been a hell of a long road to get here (there's a roguelite joke in here somewhere). We know at some point it even seemed like Metavoidal was stuck in indie game purgatory (even me), but we're finally seeing the light at the end of this very long development tunnel!

As the observant ones among you would suspect, this isn't the only thing we have locked and loaded on the road to release. But you'll have to keep an eye on our comms to catch the shiny & new gameplay trailer that we've got hidden in the back.

So we'll see you soon!

STILL PLAYING

Listen, we all know that gaming (as an industry) kind of feels like we're all trapped in the 9 circles of hell. Or The Hunger Games. Or some other third fictional metaphor about fighting to stay alive. And that's exactly what we've been doing! Just like the BeeGees, we've been trying to stay alive.

This resulted in us having to take a momentary step back from Metavoidal. But we're back now, baby!
#1 Thank you for your support
We know we've been talking about our game for literally years at this point. Release dates have been moved, the game's scope has increased/decreased/simply creased our brows multiple times, and we've disappeared for a few months. But we're still very much committed to releasing this game!
So firstly, thanks for believing in us and our project, and then secondly for sticking around!
Now onto the questions you may have:
#2 What now?
Well, when we took a break the game was 90 - 95% complete. So the biggest task for us right now is to playtest the crap out of it and fix the things that are broken.

There are some very obviously broken things, and then there are the things literally only one of us experienced but would really suck if one of YOU experienced it while playing. So we're taking the 220 grit sand paper to the game, and smoothing as many edges as we can.
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!
Metavoidal will be part of the Six-One-Indie Steam event that's happening from the 22nd to 26th of May. We might sneak an update in that has some QoL improvements and bug fixes, but we're pretty happy with the current demo build as it stands. So we won't be changing anything major.

That said we've made the demo a separate page from the main. Why? Because we'd love to see player reviews! So if you've played the demo before, would you mind leaving a little review for us? Just so that we know if there were any bits that you might have particularly liked/disliked!
#3 What now-now?
Just like the good old South African saying implies, the game will be releasing 'now-now'. Meaning: At some point in the near future, just not right now.

That window can be between a week and 2 months from now, depending on how quickly we can smooth the edges... or depending on other, unforeseen factors.

We do have things like the release of the OST planned, so hopefully you'll be able to vibe to the sounds of corrupting metal. But until then, know that we haven't abandoned this wacky idea.

Until the next update,
This has been your beloved band of golden retriever devs,
Yellow Lab Games
