A New You: Customization and Decoration

This is the sixth post in the series of core features in Farm Together 2. Today we're talking about Customization and Farm decoration. Time for a makeover!
Avatar Customization
In Farm Together 2 you can customize your avatar with plenty of things, such as changing your clothes, hair color or even choosing which earrings to wear.

Clothing and accessories will be unlocked as you level up your character (on top of potential seasonal events in the future).

You can save your outfits to presets to easily access them later, or use them in the split-screen mode (yes, we've managed to finish it before the Early Access release!)
Emotes
You can assign up to 4 emotes to greet other players, or townspeople!
Tractor Customization
You can also customize your tractor, changing the model (only one available at the first Early Access version, but more coming soon!), color, antenna, and maybe more things in the future (Honk!).
Decorating your farm
Decorate your farm as you wish! There are lots of decorative items in the shop to give a personal touch to your farm (and even more will come over time!). Roads, fences, decorative buildings, terrain types... Combine this with terraforming and you can achieve lots of different, interesting layouts!
Improvements from the first game
Here are some of the most interesting improvements from the first Farm Together:

  • Body type is now managed by three sliders that control the silhouette, weight and height of your avatar.

This enables the use of all clothings no matter the body of your avatar, something that due to technical reasons wasn't completely allowed in the first game.

  • Color variants are now grouped in a single button in shop listings.

This reduces the amount of clutter in the shop, and we can add more color variants while keeping the shop easy to navigate.

  • You can place roads on hills and ramps independently.

In the first game, roads on hills were placed in a hacky way, and were hard to control. In Farm Together 2 you can place them on slope tiles (as long as it's a straight one!) and hill ramps.

We're also considering adding bigger tiles to allow for wide corners or special road shapes, but we're not sure yet!

A well deserved rest: Housing and Jobs

This is the fifth post in the series of core features in Farm Together 2. Today we're talking about Housing and the jobs we can do inside our home!

While the housing system remains very similar to the one in the first Farm Together, there's a few changes that should improve the overall experience, so check them out!
Building houses
Building a house is a serious business! It will take a big amount of cash and resources, and it's done in several stages taking some time to complete.

Despite that, building a house is still faster compared to the first game, where it could take almost a week to build! Now a house could be completed within the day depending on our activity.
Entering our house
Once the construction is complete, we can finally go inside our house! Initially it will be almost empty, but with time and resources we'll be able to decorate it to our liking!

We can fully customize the looks of buildings and furniture, to give the house our own personal touch. From the color and style of the floor and walls, which rugs to use, or even where to put our notepad!
Jobs
It's not just about decoration! Inside houses we can perform Jobs, such as Cooking or Painting. These are tasks that take time, money and resources, but you will reap more rewards once they're finished!

When starting a job, you can choose from a list of "recipes", each one with its own requirements, duration and number of steps.

Overall, Jobs work the same way as they did in the first Farm Together (at least for now), with two changes to make them more interesting:

  • Now quests can request for Job recipes. For example you can be asked to paint a Painting or cook some food.
  • Finishing a Job will now grant resources that can be used elsewhere (for example sell them, give it to townspeople requesting them, etc).

With these two changes, we're removing the separate "Tickets" currency, as it's not needed anymore.

On top of that, you can now put the results of your work for display inside the house!
More to come!
Our intention for houses in the future is to add more kinds of Jobs (Music, Pottery, Streaming...), that should incentivate the construction of more houses. We also want to add visitors/guests to them so your decoration skills are rewarded, and probably add different minigames to each Job.

We'll be listening to your suggestions for future jobs an ideas to improve the housing system!

Shape your farm: Landscaping

This is our fourth post in the series of core features in Farm Together 2. Today we're talking about Landscaping, one of the most requested features!
Landscaping
One of the new features in Farm Together 2 allows you to easily change the orography of your farm! Now you'll be able to raise or lower hills and slopes with barely any limitation!

Our goal for the landscaping tool is to make it as accessible and easy to use as possible. It will help you get nice results in no time!

Landscaping is unlocked by building the Landscaping Agency in the town. It's not cheap, but once you've done it, using it is rather affordable.
The drone
Once unlocked, you can select landscaping actions from the shop menu. When you select it, we'll bring up a drone to move around the farm, raising or lowering tiles remotely.

The drone can freely move around the farm, so you can easily select which tiles you want to work on.
Terrain height
One of the two landscaping tools is changing height: We can raise or lower a tile's height, telling if we want to put hills or slopes.

If a tile can't be raised because of its surrounding contents (for example a building blocking it, or not enough space available to raise terrain), it's clearly shown which tiles are the problem.
Ramps
The second tool can be used to add or remove ramps from hills. In Farm Together 2 you can climb over hills, so it's not fully required to have them, but they look pretty!
Time for a full farm makeover!
With the new landscaping tool, we've decided to remove the initial farm type choice when creating a farm. This means there won't be a flat layout available from the start (and no difficulty penalty either!).

It's still possible to get a fully flat farm by spending some time and resources in flattening it, if you prefer it that way.

As always, we'll be hearing your feedback on the tool and will adjust how it works if required. Stay tuned for further updates!

Enhance your Farm: Tractor and Tools

This is our third post in the series of core features in Farm Together 2. Today we're talking about your tractor and other tools to enhance productivity of your farm!
Your Tractor
A tractor is an essential tool for any farmer worth its salt! It will help you do your tasks faster over a greater area than just doing it by yourself.

The Tractor is unlocked by building the Garage in the Town. It's possible to hop on it at any time while you're on your farm. Of course, you can customize it, but we'll get to that in a future post.

Using the tractor uses up fuel, that is slowly replenished over time, or you can refill it faster if you build fuel depots.
Tractor improvements in Farm Together 2
We've made several improvements to tractors to make it easier to use:

  • Fuel slowly replenishes over time, so you don't need to move back to fuel depots as often. They will remain being useful, though!
  • Instead of using player level, fuel capacity can be upgraded in the garage.
  • While the working area of the tractor remains being 3x3, interaction speed is now much quicker.
  • Improved behavior while placing roads and fences.
Automatic Mode
We've added an automatic mode to the tractor. When you enable it, the tractor will move in a straight line, quickly working on all tiles it moves over. This includes harvesting, plowing and even planting and watering!

The Automatic mode is specially useful on crops, and it should help with that problematic case of "guests don't plow after harvest"!

While we think this mode is a great tool, we'll be hearing your feedback on it and make adjustments if required.
Farm Tools
You can place special buildings and tools that will help with specific tasks. While these tools are not new, their behavior has been changed a bit, as well as their looks. Here's a couple of examples:

  • Sprinklers:
Sprinklers will automatically keep flowers and crops watered all the time. This doubles their growing speed, so they're really useful!
As an improvement over the first game, sprinklers are no longer a special fence, and are placed on tiles, on top of the flowers/crops. They also cover a range of 3x3 tiles around them.
  • Feeders:
They increase the amount of food available for a group of animals adjacent to it. As we said in our first post, the animals system has been modified to make it more simple, and with it the feeders are more simple as well, directly increasing available food storage without any additional cost.
And more to come!
We want to add new tools and ways to increase productivity on the farm in the future, such as Farmhands, special buildings that help you set an area where only specific crops can be planted, etc.

We're eager to hear your ideas and suggestions once you've got your hands in the game!

Welcome To The Town!

Today we're doing our second post in the series of core features in Farm Together 2. This is an exciting new feature not present in the first game!

(Please note that Town art is not 100% complete)
Introduction
One of the big improvements of Farm Together 2 is the Town!

The Town is a central place where you can sell your hard-earned resources for precious diamonds, chat with your fellow neighbours and help them with some minor tasks from time to time.

You can easily travel between your farm and the town at any time.
Townspeople
The town is bursting with activity! Meet dozens of people eager to have a nice chat with you.

As you keep leveling your farm, more people will join the town, so you'll keep meeting new faces as you play!
Errands
Townspeople may need your help from time to time, requesting specific resources or money. If you help them, you'll get a nice reward, so it's always good to help them!
Shops
You can build shops and stalls in the town. You'll be able to exchange the resources you harvest on your farm (there are a lot more types compared to the first game) for diamonds, that can be used to purchase decorations and new buildings in your farm and house.

Shops have a selling capacity that recovers over time, so you can sell all your resources (up to the available capacity) with a single click.

They also increase your resource storage limit for specific resources.

Shops can be upgraded by spending a specific amount of resources and money, increasing available storage and the shop sell capacity.
Features
You can unlock specific features, such as the Tractor, by building special shops in the town. These features may also be upgraded (for example upgrading the garage increases your tractor fuel tank capacity).
More to come!
The Town has been designed with plenty of available space to add new kinds of shops and stalls in the future, so expect plenty of new types of features and upgrades to be added. We want to allow some customization to how it looks in the future, or add new things to do during seasonal events!
