Defense Rework

[h2]Damage Reduction[/h2]
  • Maximum Damage Reduction is now capped at 80% baseline.
  • Maximum Damage Reduction can be increased to a maximum of 96%.
  • Reduced the values of Damage Reduction on Affixes.
  • Almost every item with Damage Reduction has been adjusted.

[h2]Glancing Hits[/h2]
Dodge has very much been a live or die situation; and requires a secondary defense to even be viable. To help alleviate this issue, Glancing Hits have been added.
When you fail to Dodge an attack, the attacker's attack roll will be unluckily rolled against your Dodge Chance. If your Dodge Chance now beats the new attacker unlucky roll, damage received will be halved as a glancing hit. This will apply before Damage Reduction.

  • Base Barrier Regeneration is now 10%.
  • Maximum Barrier Regeneration is 100%.
  • Every 5 Intelligence grants 1% Barrier Regeneration.

  • All enemies now deal 30% less Damage.

  • Enemy scaling in each tier has been reduced significantly.

  • They now trigger when you slide over them, like boost plates.
  • Effects have been reduced.
  • They can only activate once per round.

Developmental Help

Ghoul Smash is looking for Linux users and Steam Deck owners to begin testing on that platform soon.

Ghoul Smash is looking for translators to begin translating the game to more languages. You can do so yourself by editing the localization.csv file within the game directory.

  • Added a new upgrade that increases the player's level cap to 100.
  • This upgrade costs 2,000,000 Salvage.
  • All experience earned at level 50 will be retroactively added once this upgrade is purchased.

  • Extended the length of the demo, going all the way to the Dungeon in Act 1.

Additions

[h2]Buff Plates[/h2]
  • Buff Plates now randomly spawn during encounters. There are a total of 7 different Buff Plates, each with their own unique effect. To learn more about them, consult the guide in-game.
  • Act 1 has had Buff Plates added to some of the encounters. Act 2 and Endgame will be visited at a later time.

  • A bare-bones combat tutorial has been added to the Atlas. Offers a unique reward and a head start for the campaign.

In Preparation for the Steam NEXTFEST in June, Ghoul Smash has recieved some updates!

Additions

[h2]Linux / Steam Deck[/h2]
  • The first build with Linux support has been implemented.


[h2]Save Backups[/h2]
  • Ghoul Smash now includes a backups folder located in %appdata%/roaming/Ghoul_Smash. After each game session, a backup of your current save will be created, up to a maximum of 10 backups. The oldest backup will be automatically deleted if there are already 10 saved. Note that this folder will be removed during forced Save Wipes or upon player death in Hardcore mode.
  • To load a backup, simply copy and paste your desired backup into the main /Ghoul_Smash/ folder and rename it to 'saveData.sav', overwriting any existing save data.

  • Reworked the Crafting Window and streamlined the dropping of materials to make crafting quicker and less cumbersome.

  • The maximum reduction in an enemy's Damage Reduction with Pierce is now capped at -10%.
  • Enemies now have a maximum Dodge chance of 95%, ensuring a minimum 5% chance to hit them even if their Dodge chance exceeds 95%. Accuracy is still advantageous; however, to reduce their Dodge chance below 95%, a minimum of 46 Accuracy is required in the example provided.

  • All variants of Thrust have been updated to reduce the minimum enemy damage reduction to -20% and now include Pierce as a built-in feature.


[h3]Ball Lightning[/h3]
  • Fixed a bug where Ball Lightning should have summoned a maximum of 2 Lightning Orbs; now it correctly summons up to 3 Lightning Orbs.


[h3]Energy Leech[/h3]
  • 5% (previously 2%) of your Default Collision Damage is now leeched as Barrier.


[h3]Energy Siphon[/h3]
  • 0.1% (previously 0.5%) of your Skill Damage is now leeched as Barrier.


[h3]Siegebolt[/h3]
Siegebolt outperformed many of the other T6 Weapons with no investment required. It has been adjusted.
  • Reduced the base damage to 40 (previously 60) of each projectile.
  • Reduced the base damage of the Shrapnel to 30 (previously 60).


[h3]Resonance[/h3]
  • You now gain x0.25 (previously x0.5) Damage at the start of your turn if your Strength, Dexterity, and Intelligence are equal.


[h2]Fixes[/h2]
  • Fixed the Character Model appearing when in the Options Menu.
  • Fixed the Molten Golem encounter from dropping Tier 1 Items.
  • Fixed the Tooltip for Trident Dagger.
  • Resolved an issue where selecting a resolution above your monitor's capabilities caused the cursor to lock, requiring manual adjustment of the resolution via systemdata.ini in %appdata%/roaming/Ghoul_Smash.
  • Fixed a soft lock that occurred when attempting to open the Attributes Window while selecting mode at the beginning of the game.
