[p]Hi, Gamers! [/p][p][/p][p]Tina here—Social Media Expert and Host at RolldBox Games. Today, I’m chatting with Ferran, one of our Co-Founders, as well as the Game Designer and Creative Director of the studio at RolldBox Games 👋 [/p][p][/p][p]The whole team at ROLLDBOX GAMES is beyond hyped thinking about the moment ‘MoV: Origins’ finally reaches you all.[/p][p][/p][p]We can’t wait to hear your thoughts and impressions on the game.[/p][p][/p][p]Maybe you already have some first reactions from what we’ve been sharing so far?[/p][p][/p][p]Feel free to drop them! We'd also love to know what you'd like to see next — that way we can give you more behind-the-scenes bits and dev insights 👀[/p][p][/p][p]You can also follow us on X @MasksOfTheVoid — we’re about to start sharing some extra making-of goodies…[/p][p][/p]
Inside the Development Process
[p]
[/p][p]In the previous Devlog, we gave you a sneak peek at the procedural maps we’ve been working on.[/p][p][/p][p]The Mazes in ‘Masks of the Void: Origins’ are specially crafted just for you — designed to give you a fresh, varied experience every time you dive in. No two runs are the same, and every time you play, new challenges await.[/p][p][/p][p]You’ve got to enjoy them. Seriously![/p][p][/p]

[p][/p][p]We honestly had a blast creating these — always thinking about those key gameplay moments you’d experience. Now… we won’t lie: testing them was a whole different story.[/p][p][/p][p]When we needed to make sure everything was working right (yep, we really care about quality), tracking down the exact room and figuring out why something broke could be a real headache.[/p][p][/p][p]So yeah… we ended up playing through them a lot — just to make sure we’re delivering something solid.[/p][p][/p][p]We also can’t forget about the environment art in each room. This time around, we pushed hard to capture a more natural, immersive vibe — and that meant slow, delicate work.[/p][p][/p][p]But hey — it was all done with tons of passion, just so you can enjoy ‘Masks of the Void’ to the fullest![/p][p][/p]
Sneak Peek of Upcoming Content
[p]And when it comes to hidden worlds… The Void is king.[/p][p][/p][p]We spent a lot of time crafting its architecture — as we mentioned in previous Devlogs —, but what we haven’t shown you yet are the different objects we created to bring those spaces to life.[/p][p][/p][p]Here’s a small selection![/p][p][/p][p]The ones we got truly obsessed with? The candles.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
More to share
[p][/p][p]We haven’t shared much about the music yet — but we’re honestly so proud of the game’s soundtrack.[/p][p]There are some incredible creators behind it![/p][p][/p][p]Just wait until the game drops and check out the Credit List — you’ll see what we mean. [/p][p][/p][p]It’s hard to put into words how rich and powerful the soundtrack is.[/p][p][/p][p]All we can really do is invite you to put on some good headphones and feel the full force of it. 🎧[/p][p]It’s immersive, it surrounds you — and that’s exactly how we hope you’ll experience it.[/p][p]You already got a sneak peek in the trailer.

In our last Devlog, we talked about chess — a game our characters truly love.[/p][p]You’ll even spot fragments of iconic matches hidden throughout Masks of the Void.[/p][p]Can you recognize them?[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]We want to hype you up to play once we launch, and to tell us which ones you spot.[/p][p]Think you can uncover them all?[/p][p][/p][p]🔹In the meantime, here’s a closer look at some of the pieces for you to check out right here:[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]We also want to show you a rarely seen look at the HUB we’ve designed.[/p][p]Do you know how many secrets it holds? Devlog #15: The Light Mask: Minions Are Yours – June 26th, 2025

[p]Hi, Gamers! Tina here—Social Media Expert and Host at RolldBox Games. Today, I’m chatting with Cris, the Art Director of the studio at RolldBox Games and Ferran, one of our Co-Founders, as well as the Game Designer and Creative Director of the studio at RolldBox Games 👋 [/p][p][/p][p]We're getting closer to letting you try all the masks available in Masks of the Void — and we can't wait to hear which one's your favorite![/p][p][/p][p]From our playtests, we've seen a split:
🟡 33% love the Sand mask
🔴 33% go for the Blood mask
⚪ 34% pick the Light mask[/p][p][/p][p]We're super excited to hear from all of you and see if the balance holds…
[/p][p]Or if one mask rises above the rest! [/p][p][/p]
Inside the Development Process
[p]
Today’s all about giving you a closer look at the Light Mask — a little sneak peek before you get to play it yourselves![/p][p][/p][p]But before we dive in, we want to highlight 2 key things that are crucial for us:[/p]
 • [p]Whether we're talking Art or Game Design, our goal with every mask is the same to channel strength, power, and raw intensity.[/p]
 • [p]As our Technical Artist puts it, one of the key pillars throughout development has been crafting bold, distinctive visual effects for each mask, all while striking that sweet spot of visual balance to keep the whole experience feeling cohesive. For example, when it came to the capes, it was all about balancing things like secondary effects, flipbook speed, and emissive values to make everything feel tight and cohesive. [/p][p][/p]
[p][/p][p][/p][p]From a gameplay perspective, our Game Designer explains that the core idea behind the Light Mask is to take control of objects more passively. From the very beginning, we wanted players to feel the "summoner" archetype embedded in its telekinetic abilities.[/p][p][/p][p]That’s how minions came to life — and with them, the ability to command a horde of creatures that fight on your behalf.[/p][p][/p][p]This mask is complex by design, offering huge versatility through a wide variety of summonable units. Managing your resource perception is key here: as long as you handle your minions’ lifespans properly, you’ll be shielded from both enemy waves and boss encounters.[/p][p][/p][p]With smart control and real mastery, this mask can get you out of tough spots.[/p][p][/p]

Sneak Peek of Upcoming Content
[p]Creating the different worlds and environments in Masks of the Void has always been a labor of love — every corner, every object crafted with care and attention to detail.[/p][p][/p][p]Today, we want to share a small detail from the HUB area.[/p][p][/p][p]There’s a chessboard tucked in there…[/p][p][/p][p]But it’s no ordinary board — it’s set up with custom Masks of the Void pieces.[/p][p]Think you can figure out who’s playing? ♟[/p][p] [/p]

[p][/p]
More to share
[p][/p][p]There aren’t just relics and documents — you’ll also need to uncover the shards, figure out how they work, and what they do… How many can you carry at once? What kind of effects will they trigger?[/p][p][/p][p]Well, there’s a bit of randomness baked into all of it — just to keep your experience more dynamic, surprising, and fun every time you play.

Devlog #14: The Blood Mask: True Power – June 11th, 2025

[p]Hi, Gamers!

Tina here—Social Media Expert and Host at RolldBox Games. Today, I’m chatting with Cris, the Art Director of the studio at RolldBox Games and Ferran, one of our Co-Founders, as well as the Game Designer and Creative Director of the studio at RolldBox Games 👋

We're revealing more and more about how we created Masks of the Void. [/p][p][/p][p]We're super excited for the day you'll experience it fully and feel the raw power of Iret through each of the different masks. At the core of the game lies telekinesis, in all its forms.[/p][p][/p][p]Want to dive deeper? Here’s another Devlog with more behind-the-scenes insight.

[/p]
Inside the Development Process
[p]
We shared some details about the Blood Mask in our last Devlog, and now we want to take you deeper into how we came up with it:[/p][p]From both the Art and Game Design sides, our goal with all the masks is to convey strength, power, and intensity

According to our Technical Artist, one constant throughout development has been playing with highly distinctive visual effects to represent each mask, while also searching for what we’d call “middle grounds” to keep the whole product visually coherent.[/p][p][/p][p]For example, when it came to the capes, it was all about balancing things like secondary effects, flipbook speed, and emissive values to tie everything together smoothly.[/p][p]
[/p][p]From a gameplay perspective, our Game Designer explains that with the Blood Mask, we focused on the idea of a whirlwind of chaos. 🌪️[/p][p][/p][p]We wanted a way to control objects "automatically", in a way that lets players feel the brawler/warrior archetype: unafraid to get up close, dishing out strong area damage, but needing a bit more time to deal with specific enemies.[/p][p]
[/p][p]🔹 The Blood Mask gives you the tools to dive straight into the heart of combat — and grow stronger the more damage you take.[/p][p]In scenarios with lots of weak enemies, this mask is ideal.[/p][p][/p]
Sneak Peek of Upcoming Content
[p]Speaking of masks... Let’s take a look at what the Light Mask can do.[/p][p][/p][p]It’ll be available in the full version of the game — coming very, very soon![/p][p][/p][p]You’ll get to enjoy it as much as your creativity allows.[/p][p][/p][p]Why? Because once you try it, you’ll see everything you can pull together with this power.[/p][p]That’s all we’re saying for now, catch us in the next Devlog for a first sneak peek![/p][p]
🔹 Meanwhile, we're showing off this awesome poster our Art Team made — again, because it just looks too cool not to!

Devlog #13: The Sand Mask: A Source of Inspiration – May 28th, 2025

Hi, Gamers!

We’re getting closer and closer to the moment we can finally share Masks of the Void with all of you — it’s not far off now!

We can’t wait for you to discover the story behind this anti-stress roguelite, as some of our playtesters call it.

While the launch approaches, we wanted to give you another glimpse into how we get inspired and how we bring our ideas to life.

We know you love seeing how the team works behind the scenes — so here’s a brand-new Devlog just for you!
Inside the Development Process
We shared some details about the Sand Mask in our last Devlog, and now we want to take you deeper into how we came up with it:

From both the Art and Game Design sides, our goal with all the masks is to convey strength, power, and intensity. That feeling comes through in the shape of each mask, its powers, and the effects crafted by our Technical Artist to bring everything to life.

For the Sand Mask, in particular, the Game Design team focused on a single-direction launch mechanic. We wanted it to channel the Glass Cannon archetype — and what better material than sand to hint at something as fragile and sharp as glass? ✨

🔹 We designed this mask to let you take down powerful enemies like the Sand Guards in a single hit — but only if your spatial awareness is on point:

And to match all that power, we had to find the tricky balance in Iret’s cloak effects: showing the maximum info in the simplest way possible, with style and clarity.

🔹 What do you think of this Sand Mask cloak? Once again, we want the mask’s power to stand out in this World of Sand:
Sneak Peek of Upcoming Content
Speaking of masks, let’s check out what the Blood Mask can do — and you can try it yourself in the available Demo.

Did you know you can grab every object around you, make them orbit, and throw them whenever you want?

Give it a try and share your thoughts!

🔹 We're showing off this awesome poster our Art Team made — again, because it just looks too cool not to!
What do you think?
More to share
Don’t forget to try the Infinite Waves mode in the demo — still live on our Steam page!

Get some training in and get ready to enjoy the full game soon!
