New trailer and Devlog

[p][/p][p]Hello again, acolytes of Tabal. We’re back with new updates on Catechesis and a special surprise for Yuppie Psycho fans.[/p][p][/p]
NEW TEASER TRAILER
[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
NEW DEVLOG
[p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]Development Progress[/p][p]Over the past few weeks, we’ve been running private playtests of the first three dungeons in Catechesis. Feedback has been very positive, especially around progression and combat. However, the early difficulty curve was too steep, so we’re adjusting that to make the experience more welcoming. Whether you enjoy action or exploration, the progression system lets you tailor the game to your playstyle.[/p][p]Skill Trees[/p][p]The skill tree is powered by demon blood, a resource earned from defeating enemies. It can be spent at Tabalist altars to unlock new skills and level up. If Daniel dies before using it, you’ll need to retrieve the blood from where you fell. Very similar to Souls games. Other collectibles like hearts, bones, and eyes improve healing and faith abilities, helping you stay alive longer.[/p][p]Characters[/p][p]At the heart of the game is Daniel’s church, where his eccentric grandfather Don Ezequiel serves as priest. When Ezequiel falls ill, Daniel’s quest begins. Alongside him are characters like Mrs. Cordelia, a sharp-tongued family friend with a deep connection to the church’s past.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Yuppie Psycho Gets Mod Support!
[p]Lastly, we’re thrilled to announce that Yuppie Psycho now has official mod support. Create new stories, characters, music, and more. Join our Discord to try it out and share your creations.[/p]
Do you wan to try it?
• [p]Also we recommend you to join our Discord Server. There you’ll find all the guides, documentation, and support you need to get started, plus a space to share your creations and try out other people’s mods.[/p]
[p][/p][p]I know this game is taking forever. Thank you so much for your patience and support. This project is longer than our previous games, and it’s taking a bit more time to polish. But it will be worth the wait, I promise![/p][p][/p][p]Thanks for following along. More news and surprises are coming soon.[/p][p]Amen, Tabal![/p][p][/p]

Updates and Inspiration

Catechesis update 🙏

We’re still working super hard on Catechesis. Things are moving forward in areas like combat, where we’ve added some cool new enemies. (Did you know we’re aiming for 40+ enemies total?!) We’re also tweaking the UI, fleshing out the game’s story, and getting close to finishing some key story illustrations. Plus, we’ve started private alpha tests with a few close friends—they’re playing through about 60% of the game right now. This round’s all about testing combat, systems, and hero leveling, since those are the trickier spots for us.

The feedback’s been awesome so far, and the gameplay’s already pretty lengthy. Honestly, we’re thinking the final game could hit around 15 hours—crazy, right?! That’s why it’s taking a while.
We’re cooking up a detailed devlog for the next few months, so stick around for more updates. We’ve got a ton to show you!

Catechesis Inspiration. HORROR RPGs

On top of this quick update, we’ve got something special—a video about our big inspiration for Catechesis (and our past games): RPG Maker horror games. Check out the creepy world of RPG Maker horror—like the viral scarefest Ao Oni or the artsy chills of Ib. We’ll dive into how this simple tool spawned psychological horror gems that still haunt players years later. You’ll hear about the stories behind these indie classics and what makes their fear factor so unique. Whether you’re a diehard fan or just curious about these cult hits, come along as we celebrate their wild creativity and lasting vibes.

That’s all for now. Keep an eye out for the next devlog!

Devlog #3 Forbidden Learning

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Greetings, Acolytes! With Halloween upon us, we’re thrilled to bring you spine-tingling updates from Catechesis. This time, we dive deep into the game’s mechanics, introduce a memorable new character, and share exclusive news for our Yuppie Psycho fans.

The dev team has been hard at work, with recent private beta tests of the first two dungeons giving us key insights. Thanks to valuable feedback, we’re refining Catechesis’s combat system and character progression to ensure both new and seasoned players feel fully immersed. Plus, the story is now fully locked, with only some alternate endings left to refine. The narrative is designed for you to uncover and experience firsthand, filled with surprises, choices, and unexpected turns. Alongside the expanded maps and new cutscenes, Catechesis is shaping up to be our most ambitious project yet, with over 44 unique enemies and a world much larger than Yuppie Psycho.

One of our most intriguing new mechanics is the blood altar save system. These altars, inspired by the Souls series, are a pivotal addition, allowing Daniel to respawn, recover, and even teleport between dungeons. The first altar, the Hemopheretro, has deep mythological roots, offering Daniel—and you—a lifeline in his journey. But the lore surrounding these altars is as dark as it is complex, with secrets that will slowly reveal themselves as you progress.

And finally, for our Yuppie Psycho fans, we have a special surprise—exclusive new pins of Brian Pasternack and Mr. Devil, now available on Makeship! These limited-edition items celebrate the characters in a unique, collectible way, so be sure to grab yours.

As always, we’re deeply grateful for your support and excited to bring you along on this journey. If you haven’t already, please wishlist Catechesis on Steam and join us on Discord for even more updates. Amen Tabal!

A first Glimpse

It has been a few months since we announced our game, and we believe it’s time for a new developer’s log. We’re working tirelessly to create a game that will leave a lasting impression on you. It’s no easy task, but we want to share glimpses of our progress with our fans to quench your anticipation for the release.

In this devlog, we’ll cover the following:
 • Development: Learn how different parts of our team collaborate to build the game’s initial structure—a solid playable foundation for what’s to come.
 • Characters: Allow us to introduce Sophie, a character who will evoke either love or hate. But Sophie is just the beginning; more intriguing characters await in future devlogs.
 • Mechanics: Get a sneak peek at the combat system in ‘Catechesis.’ Combat is uncharted territory for us, but we’re striving to create an experience that appeals to both new players and seasoned fans.
 • Latest News: Did you know it’s been five years since we released ‘Yuppie Psycho’? The overwhelming love from our fans keeps us pushing boundaries. Check out the video for surprises we’ve prepared to celebrate this special occasion.

That’s all for now. We’ll continue working hard, so please help us spread the word of the God Tabal among your friends and add us to your wishlists.

Amen Tabal!
